Jade smiled as he saw the lifeless corpses of the Champion Arachnis. After notifying him of all the deaths his IP said
‘You have completed the quest’
[Reach Rank 15 – reward: a job promotion or change opportunity – status: complete]
‘You can change to the Soul Hunter (Hunter) (Event Limited) job or promote to the Mercenary (Hunter) job’
Jade said ‘What are the details of these jobs?’
His IP replied ‘The Soul Hunter job is an event limited job: It can only be gotten during the World War 3: Coronation War Event. The requirements to get this job are:
Kill a Authority Level 5 King that is equal to or more than double your Rank in the WW3 Event.
Possess one or more Soul Glyphs.
Reach Rank 15 with the Hunter job.
The requirement for getting the Mercenary job is trading with other creatures and reaching Rank 15 with the Hunter job.’
Jade asked when he saw that his IP had nothing more to say ‘What about privileges of the jobs? And what are Soul Glyphs’
His IP answered ‘You can only get information about the privileges of a job when you choose the job. Giving you information about the privileges now will allow you get information about a job without killing a creature with said job. Your current job (Hunter) doesn’t allow you access to information about Soul Glyphs’.
Jade sighed and thought ‘Kill, kill, kill. You really like your deaths don’t you? Well it’s a no-brainer; I’m taking the Soul Hunter job’
His IP said ‘Done. Choose one of the privileges’
[Soul Map: This privilege allows the user to know the location and Rank of every Soul in the known world.
Soul Sense: This privilege allows the user to know the level of sturdiness, amount of Soul Glyphs and Soul Mandalas and the names of the Soul Glyphs and Soul Mandalas of a soul that is within the user’s IP range.]
Jade stared in amazement at the two privileges; they both had no Rank limit. Jade thought ‘I get to keep the Soul Map privilege even if the even ends? Ah, good things can also happen to me! I wonder what this Soul Glyph and Mandala is though. IP, what’s a Soul Glyph?’

His IP replied ‘A Soul Glyph is the final form of a Soul Ability.A Soul Mandala is an evolution of the soul that comes from a profound understanding of one’s self’Jade was surprised as he thought ‘Well that’s something I didn’t know. Do I have a Soul Glyph or Mandala?’
His IP answered ‘You have zero Soul Mandalas and two Soul Glyphs. They are’
[Dread-Smith]
[Space]
Jade thought ‘Dread-Smith must be the final form of True Dream. *Sigh* If only I could check it out… anyways, that’s about to change. Space must be the result of me fully understanding space. Understanding space as amazing and hard as it is, is just a requirement to creating Tiered Armaments. There are still ways to go’
Jade said ‘Give me the Soul Sense privilege’
His IP replied ‘Done. You have completed the Quest’
[Reach Rank 19 – reward: an additional privilege – status: complete]
‘You have acquired the Soul Map privilege. You have completed the Job Quest’
[(Superior) Primordial Human:
Soul Hunter:
Kill a creature with a higher Rank than 19 – reward: one evolution ticket, instant job upgrade, all stats increase by one major Rank, pinnacle Rank is the limit. If a stat is at pinnacle Rank already it can be increased to transcendent Rank, in exchange the other stats will remain the same – status: possible (complete).]
Jade’s IP said ‘Choose which stat you want to improve to Transcendent’
Jade thought ‘Wow, Transcendent stats are just coming my way nowadays. Doping myself was a good choice, although I have about two months to live normally before I start dying. But I’m good now, I’m about to evolve!’
Jade thought for a while before saying ‘Improve the sense stat’
His IP replied ‘Done. Your job has been upgraded to the Grim Reaper job. Choose one of the privileges’
[Grim Reaper’s Scythe: This privilege gives you the right to take the soul and experience the memories in the soul of any creature you kill and add them to your soul’s memories. There is a small chance that experiencing the memories of a creature with a Soul Glyph will give you the creature’s Soul Glyph or Soul Mandala, this chance increases the more similar your soul is to the soul of the creature you killed.

Grim Reaper’s Cloak: This privilege causes the IPs of any creature that senses you to advise them to escape from you. You have the right to stop any privilege that seeks to get information about you and you will be alerted if any attempt is tried. No IP will sense you unless you allow it.
Grim Reapers don’t have a kill en-code. Any creature that kills them gets the Immortal title. This will be made know to any creature whose IP senses them.]
Jade thought ‘Wow, another bunch of privileges that are not restricted by Rank! I choose the Scythe privilege. What were the requirements of this upgrade?’
Jade’s IP replied ‘Done. The requirements for the Grim Reaper job are:
Possessing the Soul Hunter job and finishing the Job Quest
Possessing the Freak title
Endure the assault of a monster with a Soul Glyph that is higher than you in Rank’
Jade thought ‘Eh? Am I being consoled for being attacked by the Soul Parasite? Nice!’
Jade’s IP said ‘You have acquired an evolution ticket. You have completed the Quest’
[Acquire 2 evolution tickets – reward: a chance to evolve – status: 2/2 evolution tickets acquired, possible (complete)]
‘You can evolve whenever you want’
Jade sighed in relief when he heard the last message. He thought ‘You hear that Parasite? I’m coming for you; just wait a bit for me’. He looked at the corpse of the Rank 22 Champion Arachni and he noticed a floating semi-transparent grey ball above the corpse. His IP identified it as [Soul: 0-Soul Glyphs, 0-Solu Mandalas].
Jade went to the ball and as if noticing his decision the ball floated towards him. When it touched him it disappeared and his IP said ‘You have acquired 1 Soul. You can absorb the memories anytime’. Jade proceeded to take the Souls of the other Champion Arachnis. After that he sent their corpses into a Dimension he used as his storage.
When he was done, he switched his focus back to his Soul Map and noted that the remaining Champion Arachni was running away. Jade chuckled and took 8 minutes to open a portal that brought him before the constantly running Arachni.
The Arachni was shocked still at Jade’s arrival and sent him a psychic message which Plot Armor blocked. Jade controlled the Dimension of Plot Armor and left his head open and the second psychic message of the Arachni successfully reached him.
It said ‘Please don’t kill me! My dad was the one that said we should attack you. I had no choice!’ Seeing that the Arachni was going to take all its time pleading Jade sent a psychic message that said ‘Quiet’.
The Arachni went silent afterwards and Jade asked ‘What will I get out of letting you live?’ The Arachni said ‘Web Worlds, I can make them. The place you found my father in, I built it. I can also help you kill monsters and carry anything you need me to’.
Jade thought ‘Basically nothing I need. I can make it my assistant but I will need it to sign a contract with King’s Word’. He said ‘Are you a Rank 5 King?’ The Arachni said ‘Yes’ and Jade said ‘Use King’s Word, promise to always obey my instructions if they do not bring you any harm or risk your life. Promise to never do anything that might be harmful, life threatening, unpleasant or disadvantageous to me on purpose. Promise to never lie to me. In return I won’t kill you, harm you, or do anything disadvantageous or unpleasant to you’.
The Arachni was quite surprised by the fact that the deal wasn’t one sided. It quickly agreed and created the contract with King’s Word and Jade agreed to it. It asked afterwards ‘Why did you promise not to kill me?’
Jade sighed and said ‘I guess you’re still a novice. If you accepted a one-sided deal that doesn’t restrict me from killing you, then what is the point of you making the deal? It would be better for you to let me kill you right where you stand than for you to be killed by me after doing so much work for me’.
The Arachni sent a signal of realization and said ‘Thank you. My name is Darol. What would you like me to do?’
Jade thought for a while and said ‘For now, just follow me’. Jade opened a portal back to his lab after a few minutes of spatial manipulation and led Darol through it.

I'm Always Talking to Myself
My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)
