《Era: Dawn of the New Gods》Chapter 192: Homecoming

Mira made her way toward a large building at the center of the city and entered through one of the windows. She expanded her energy zone to cover the building for a fraction of a moment before retracting it back to her head. She smiled when she assessed the information from the scan. Jake had finished evolving.
She vibrated as she floated down from the top floor of the building, phasing through the floors to reach the bottom most one. Only Charlotte was in the underground room where Jake was now and Mira saw her as she entered.
Charlotte had also finished evolving 3 days ago but she had to stay away from people since seeing her could cause them to go mental and sometimes die due to excessive psychic overload.
Charlotte was currently 8 feet tall and she possessed golden pupils but the whites of her eyes were now completely black. Her long hair looked like it was made of thin black metal wires and her skin looked equally as metallic. Her black nails looked like crystals and they were no more claw like as they were when she was an Original Vampire.
Looking at her currently caused the minds of people to strain in order to accept what they were seeing. It wasn’t that she looked so other worldly but the amount of psychic information gotten just from looking at her, hearing her voice or being close to her was too much for people who didn’t have Grade 4 intelligence or higher. Mira’s IP identified Charlotte as a:
[Rank 20 Olympian (Hades) (Death)]
Charlotte pointed to Jake who unlike the them who got size increasing evolutions was almost exactly the same as he was when he was a human; no fangs, no claws. His pupils were now purple and he had a slim tail that was twice as long as his body and ended with an arrow head. Mira’s IP denoted him as a:
[Rank 20 Chronovernensis (Eternal Demon)]
Mira said “Welcome back”. Jake replied “Good to be back”. Mira said “You’re so... underwhelming”. Jade replied “I know right? That’s just the way this race works I guess”. Mira said “Then it's only Charlotte that needs to learn control then, I’m going back to Nigeria soon I just wanted to see you before I leave”. Jake said “Thanks for waiting”.

Mira opened a portal and arrived in the center of the city. She scanned it with her energy zone, found Samuel and flew toward him. She saw him sitting down on a chair watching some undead dig the ground. She said “I’m going back to Nigeria for a while, just wanted to say bye”. Samuel took a little while before saying “Can I come along?”
Mira asked “Why do you want to come?” Samuel said “Well there are probably settlements there I want to see if we can trade of even get more people. We have the teleportation rings now we have to use it for more than easy travel”. Mira said “You should tell Jake”. Samuel’s eyes widened as he said “He’s awake?” Mira nodded and said “He doesn’t seem to have any hazardous effects”.
Samuel went to the big building and after 5 minutes he returned and signaled that he was ready to go. Mira asked “In what direction is Nigeria?” Samuel shook his head, pointed toward a location and said “I had a feeling you wouldn’t know”.
Samuel opened the first portal that teleported them 5 kilometers towards the country. They teleported over the sea and over other countries for a while before Samuel realized that Mira would not recognize the borders of her country even if they got there.
He stopped opening portals and said “How will we know when we get there?” Mira looked at him and said “That’s a good question. I wish I knew the answer”. Samuel sighed and said “Let’s just hope we stumble on a place you’re familiar with” Mira nodded and as soon as they were about to open a portal another portal opened before them.
Mira looked at Samuel and said “Is this you?” Samuel shook his head and said “Not me”. A woman came out of the portal and Mira recognized her, it was Lara. Lara said “Who are you and why have you come to my territory?”
Mira was surprised that Lara didn’t recognize her but when she realized that she looked far from human with her claws, fangs, tail bunny ears and cat eyes she said “Its me Mira”. Lara was taken aback but she wasn’t too averse to the idea that she was telling the truth. Lara said “Don’t mind me but can you prove that you are Mira?”

Mira said “We fought in the sparring tournament; I was the one with the cool armor”. Lara said “You disappeared last I heard about you. Welcome back though, a lot has changed in the country. Who is your friend?”
Mira said “This is Samuel; he wants to make trade relations with the settlements and do other stuff”. Samuel nodded and said “I would like to make connections with the settlements in Nigeria and Africa. Even if there is nothing for us to trade it would be good for us humans to reunite again”.
Lara sighed and nodded her head; it seemed there were a lot of troubles on her mind. Lara was currently Rank 20 and she was still the same Origin Meta human race she was before the WW3 Event. Mira didn’t want to pry into why she seemed to have had a stunted growth since she didn’t know Jade’s or her situation, for all she knew Jake and Charlotte could have been exceptionally powerful compared to the other Ancient grade races.
She gestured for Mira and Samuel to follow her through the portal she used to get there. Mira and Samuel followed and were greeted by a futuristic city with many metal skyscrapers that reached very high. The city had monsters and humans performing various tasks and going from place to place.
Samuel asked “Did you guys even go through the same event?” Lara answered “I was strong enough to scare of any monsters that came for my city”. She looked at Mira and said “The High Sanctuary survived but at a cost. Most settlements asked to go under me for protection, only the High Sanctuary and the High Nomads remain standing they combined and are now the All People's Territory.”
Mira asked “Is Funmi fine? She was one of-“ Lara raised her hand to stop Mira from explaining who Funmi was and said “She’s alive, she’s currently on her way to Egypt with Bella” Mira sighed and said “Good”. Lara asked “Do you want to see her?” Mira said “She’s far away right? I don’t want to disturb her”.
Lara smiled and said “Nonsense! This is the best time to reunite with old friends and besides distance doesn’t mean much to her”. Lara sent a mental message to Funmi and said “She should be on her way right about…now”
Sparks gathered in the air and formed a humanoid figure. The sparks condensed and the figure of Funmi was formed, she looked questioningly at the two strangers before turning to Lara and saying “WHY DID YOU CALL?”
Mira said “Funmi!” and Funmi looked at her with a confused expression and asked Lara “WHO’S THE BUNNY CAT GIRL?” Lara answered “That’s Mira”. Funmi’s confused expression turned to joy and she hugged Mira and she said “WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE A SILVER BUNNY CAT GIRL?”
Mira said “I evolved dammit!”. Funmi said “WOW! YOU GOT A REALLY GOOD ONE! I HAD TO SETTLE FOR EITHER BEING A NERFED ZEUS OR LIVING ELECTRICITY... AGAIN AND AGAIN YOU KEEP GETTING THE GOOD STUFF!” Mira rolled her eyes and said “You can obviously see my race and why are you so loud?”
Funmi laughed and said “I’M LIVING ELECTRICITY YOU CAN’T EXPECT ME TO TALK NORMALLY, MY VOICE IS THUNDER!” Mira pouted and said “And you said my race is the good stuff”. Funmi said “CAN YOU BLAME ME? YOU’RE RANK 27 WHICH FROM THE ANNOUNCEMENT IS THE HIGHEST RANK AN EX-HUMAN HAS EVER ACHIEVED.”
Mira sighed and said “It’s not really that special an achievement. I’m not the only one that got it. Before you ask, yes, there was a reward for being Rank 27 and it was a title called Forerunner. The title description said I was one of the people that were Rank 27 and that I got a [Pantheon Ability Crystal: Angel Creation]. I tried asking what it was but the IP said I couldn’t get the information now. I’m assuming it might have something to do with the next Event”
Funmi said “HMM… I HAVE WORK TO DO NOW. DO YOU WANT TO FOLLOW ME? I’LL UPDATE YOU ON WHAT HAPPENED.”. Mira said “Ok but it might take a while for me to teleport to where you’re going”
Funmi said “Don’t worry” she turned to Lara and said “Can you make a portal?” Lara nodded and opened a portal that led to where Funmi was previously. Mira and Funmi walked into it while Lara gestured for Samuel to follow her.

Cinder Roots (Undergoing a Rewrite)
This novel is currently undergoing a major rewrite, as I noticed several plot points that needed to be revamped. I'll leave the chapters I've posted here to anyone curious to see how everything started, but I'll be posting the rewritten story as a new novel in the future. The characters will be the same, but the journey will be more understandable and hopefully, a lot more fun to read. -------- First, everything was fire, it killed, it consumed, and it gave him life. He was just a tree, born in the biggest forest that remained in the world, full of dryads, naiads, elves and treants, but he was alone. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t talk. Curiosity plagued him. He dreamed of wandering the land, but could only wonder what stood outside the reach of his roots. The tree was tired of waiting. He decided to not just dream, but to act. How could he survive against a invading empire, a grand conspiracy that threatened to shake the foundations of the world, and the raw danger that lies within these woods? With pure determination. Warning - There are quite a few POV changes in the first chapters, but that'll change after the introduction is done, as I'll be focusing on the MC perspective only.

Deep beneath the Imperial City is carved the Imperial Sewers out of the bedrock. Here, life is cheap and ruined dreams and violence intermingle among the filth and utter squalor. One of those living there, carving out a meagre existence by theft and murder, is a young girl... (Useful info time! The releases for this one will largely follow the same pattern as the main project Avine. One chapter every friday for foreseeable future). 09.29.18: Reality caught up with me, this means I have to scale back my writing time considerably. I promise to finish it, but it will be piecemeal, and progress made likely around holiday times.
