That was dangerous

I decide to just go straight to the main city ignoring my previous words of seeing every village we can, We encounter elf children along the way sculpting schlongs with plants and the occasional adult supervising them, Now that I think about it, do these elves have extended lifespans like in other fantasy worlds? I ask side since she seems like some sort of elf expert or something ‘’I heard that elves have longer lives, is it true?’’ I ask an open-ended question in hope of getting teacher side to explain the rest

‘’Elves do have longer lifespans than other races with the oldest currently being 1896 years old, even though their lifespans are longer it doesn’t mean there will be more elves since the people rarely last that long before something comes around and kills them, also elves age at the same rate as everyone else so the longer you live the more senile you get’’ I don’t really follow why there are few old elves, is it like how some animals on earth are technically immortal but they get killed by the environment or eaten before they reach that age?

The road ends with a massive hollowed out tree and elves buzzing around, the tree is large, like really large, large enough to mistaken it for a wall since it encompasses your entire field of view and then some, the tree has a large opening down the center for carriages and several smaller openings off to the side, we wait in line for our turn to get in through the gate with a bunch of elves at everywhere you look, identify isn’t responding to all the new elf types for some reason even though we keep seeing a new variety of elf like:

one that glows, one that is drenched, one that is part beast, one that is covered in ice, one with freaking wings, one that is really short, one that looks like a diamond, one with spider legs growing from its back, one in a clown costume and one that looks like it got chopped in half, come on identify this is where I need you! Can I just ask it directly? ‘’hey identify can you tell all those elves info?’’

Nah, ill do it when you meet them personally since there are too many here and that would be a hassle to give you a description of each different elf in your vision

Ugh, is it me, or is identify getting even more sassy nowadays, like, before it would at least fulfill my request when I asked it but just then it flat out refused since it was lazy, it’s finally our turn in for the check-in, the line was pretty fast since most people here are adventurers but we still had to wait a while from the sheer amount.

The guard was a normal elf with heavy armour and a spear, I hand my guild card and the guard scans it with a shocked expression before giving it back as side does the same, we enter the giant tree before standing still with our mouths gaping like fish, well, my mouth but side was just as amazed as I was at the interior of this behemoth of a city.

The city is equal in size to Tor, not that I've seen all of Tor either but just the scale is enough to give the impression that this city is not inferior, and that’s just the first level, that’s right, this city is multi-layered with elevator platforms made out of vines in certain locations one going up and another going down, I have no clue what is where so I ask side ‘’do you know the where we are?’’ and she responds with a shake of her head, I walk towards a particularly bright elf floating up in the air holding a sign with the words ‘’info’’ on it, I'm now under the elf and wave to get its attention

Light elf, level 21 tour lamp threat 6%, light elves specialize in using light and wind magic, they are constantly emitting a bright light and float in the air, this makes them the perfect beacon to show where you are, they are also used in greenhouses along with other elves to help with plant growth

The elf hovers down to me ‘’what is your question?’’ he asks with a beaming smile, one that is literally shooting out a beam of light right into my retinas, AAHH I cover my eyes and ask ‘’where is the adventurers guild?’’, he replies with a sigh ‘’just walk towards that guy over there’’ and points us to an elf floating around looking bored

We head over to the bored elf and find an adventurers guild under where he is floating, these guys really do work well as landmarks, we enter the adventurers guild and wait in queue, our turn arrives with no additional trouble and we stand in front of a tired elf receptionist ‘’we’d like to turn in a quest from another city’’ I say as both side and I place down the wooden tag to indicate the quest and our guild cards, the receptionist takes the cards and scans them while placing the tags in a drawer under his desk, in a practiced motion he plops down two large trays

‘’from the quest info you must have a lot of loot, just put everything in here’’ I walk closer to the reception desk and summon two mountains of parts directly inside the trays ‘’can you get some more?’’ all the other adventurers stop what they’re doing and look at me speechless, assistant guild employees heft the trays away out back while the receptionist takes out another two trays, I teleport another mountain into each tray while the adventurers take a step back, repeating this enough times to empty my inventory of monster proof and thoroughly exhausting the employees of the adventurers guild I only half fill a tray and conclude ‘’that’s all’’ as all the staff sigh in relief, what, I didn’t hunt that much and why are all the adventurers horrified?

‘’Because of the. amount. of materials you’ve given us, It will take a while to calculate the correct amount, come again tomorrow to collect your reward’’ I reply with an ‘’okay~’’ and skip out of the adventurers guild

I'm looking forward to the mountain of cash tomorrow
