《The Abandoned Disciple》Chapter 44

Heavenly threads dangled in front of Relic with ethereal nature. The beauty of these threads were unmatched by any thing under the heavens.
Every cultivator’s journey began with these threads which connects them to the heavens and allows them to cultivate.
All Relic had to do was will for a heavenly thread to come to him and guide it towards his dantian. At that time, he would truly step on to the road of cultivation.
Yet, instead, Relic exhaled and slowly closed his eyes.
When he opened his eyes once more, the heavenly threads were gone.
“Did you catch all of that?” Relic turned his head towards Hana and asked with a smile.
“ah…” Hana suddenly flailed her arms in an attempt to recreate the movements her brother showed her.
“Hahaha, I’m only joking.” Relic had a good laugh while Hana pouted. He continued, “The movements I showed are the cultivation technique of the Heaven Sunder Sect. It has a total of 8 sets but in truth, beginners only require to practice the first two sets. As you progress in your cultivation, you will naturally complete more sets until you are capable of cultivating all of it.”
Relic then took out a manual from his spatial ring and handed it to Hana. “This is the cultivation manual of the Heaven Sunder Sect which contains the cultivation technique and several of their secret arts. However…” His countenance suddenly turned serious. “You must make sure you never reveal this manual to any one or practice this cultivation technique in public. This is a truly rare technique and there are many who would kill in order to take it.”
This manual was obviously crafted by memory. Relic had probably gone through the original manual thousands of times, shaking his head in astonishment of the legacy left behind by the Heaven Sunder Sect. He could probably cultivate the technique in his sleep if he really wanted to.
Hana felt an enormous pressure weighing on her after hearing Relic’s voice. If she took the manual now, she would undoubtedly have accepted the harsh reality of the cultivation rule. However, it only last for a brief moment before she nodded and took the manual from Relic’s hands. “I promise to never show this manual or technique to anyone I do not trust!”
Relic nodded.
“Let us continue.”
Relic once again took up his stance and began guiding and teaching Hana the first two sets of the [Dragon’s breaking point] technique.
….
It took around 15 minutes for Hana to get the basic movements of the first two sets. Under Relics guidance, Hana was soon able to practice the two sets entirely by herself.
“Mn,” Relic nodded his head, “Good, continue these two sets for another hour. I will then teach you a meditative pose in order to calm your mind” he said, but it seemed like Hana was already focused on cultivating and didn’t even hear him.
He sighed and turned to the clear spirit lake. He took a seat near the lake and had a soft smile.
“Looks like everything is finally going as planned.”
He stretched upwards and let out a satisfied exhale.
He quickly took out all of the items from his spatial rings and quickly organised the items. Most of the items he bought were to aid in his sister’s cultivation journey. To be honest, Relic had already begun thinking about Hana’s entire cultivation journey.
The first step was to teach his sister the basics of cultivation. Of course, he had many other manuals other than the Heaven Sunder Sect’s manual he could have taught her which would cause less problems in the future with regards to the rarity of the technique. However, Relic had once seen the might of the Heaven sunder manual in which even random mortals could quickly cultivate.

Relic could not deny the fact that he was indeed one of the most talentless mortals around when it came to cultivation. Even back when he was in the Thunder Storm Sect, he was even worse than the cultivators who worked as servants for the core disciples! The only reason he could have any progression in cultivation was because his master continued to provide him with cultivation resources. Without it, he would have been like many others and never have crossed the foundation realm.
Thus, he could only conclude that Hana’s talent, seeing as they were twins, suffered the same fate as his. However, with the Heaven’s Sunder cultivation technique, she would be capable of cultivating like everyone else, maybe even go so far as to match those geniuses!
“This should be good.” He nodded to himself at the pile of cultivation resources in front of him which he would set aside for Hana.
He then took out the 200 fire and ice lotuses and all the beast blood he purchased.
“It’s been a while since I tried to make an infused blood wine. This should be fun.”
He was just about to collect some of the spirit water from the lake when suddenly…
“Brother, what are these white threads?”
“What?” He turned to Hana who had an aura of calm. Her eyes darted around as if she was focused on things that weren’t there.
“Impossible, I haven’t even taught her the lotus position yet. How could she possibly see the heavenly threads?!”
Relic walked up towards Hana and said, “Hana, you see the white threads?”
“Yes.” She answered in a monotone.
“How many are there?” he asked in a frown.
“M-many…”
“Is this perhaps the effects of cultivating the Cultivation technique of the Heaven’s Sunder Sect?” Relic thought about it and surmised it as such. The Heaven’s sunder Sect was an ancient and supreme sect which existed many, many years ago. Only powerful sects nowadays had some records of the ancient sects of the past. Relic had no way to tell how different a cultivation technique from ancient times differed from the ones used by today’s cultivators. “Perhaps this is a good thing…”
“Hana, these white threads are called the Heavenly threads of cultivation. These threads are what allows cultivators to cultivate heavenly energy and connects the cultivators to the heavens. Try to find one you have a connection with.”
“A connection?”
“Right, it should be a thread you feel a bond with.”
“a bond…” Hana mumbled to herself.
If Relic could see what Hana was seeing, he would understand the confusion in her voice.
Surrounding Hana were countless heavenly threads clumping and twisting together. The mass of white threads surrounded and obstructed her view. This scene was significantly different to the heavenly threads Relic had seen. She quickly thought this was just how every cultivator saw the heavenly threads.
Hana gulped down her saliva and began to search for a single heavenly thread.
She began to walk around, trying to swat away the invisible threads.
Unbeknownst to her, Relic stared at her with bulging eyes.
It should be understood that one can only see the heavenly threads in a meditative state and that could only be achieved in a still, calm manner. What Relic was witnessing was a complete contradiction to what he believed. He could see Hana was indeed still in a meditative state and yet she moved around like it was nothing! It could not be helped the shock Relic was feeling.
…
Hana continued to move around the cave while observing the heavenly threads around her. Yet, she could not feel any sort of connection to any of the Heavenly threads.

“Am I no good in cultivation?” She began to feel a little down.
Suddenly, she noticed a sleeping peacock near the cave walls.
After the initial shock from Relic’s cultivation demonstration, Jiro could only give out a sigh. Nothing about Relic had been normal to him since the start and he couldn’t even stay shocked for long anymore. Thus, with nothing to do, Jiro went to his own area and dozed off.
His sleeping posture was as strange as ever with his neck bending in an arc and his head connecting to his back.
Seeing this, Hana giggled slightly when she suddenly noticed a pure white thread around Jiro’s head. The moment her eyes laid on this thread she immediately felt a connection towards it!
She slowly moved towards Jiro. Her hands made a grabbing gesture as if she wanted to touch all over.
At the same time, Jiro’s eyes snapped open, as if sensing an immediate danger. He saw Hana’s groping hands and immediately went into a panic.
“T-there must be something she wants behind me…” He thought. He got up and began to walk away, but Hana turned and walked even faster towards him.
“Tiny human, what do you want!” He wanted to scream but it only came off as a few small roars. Hana Jumped onto Jiro and held tightly onto his neck. She then reached for the heavenly thread which was loosely tied to his head crest feathers. However, she soon found out she could not touch it at all.
“Hmmm, brother, I can’t touch the heavenly thread.” She said.
Relic snapped out of his daze and tried to calm down. “Y-you must will the heavenly thread towards you. Think about why you want to cultivate and then grasp it!”
Hana stared blankly, a bit confused by what her brother was saying. “I must will it?” she began to ponder those words. “Why do I want to cultivate?”
To her the answer was obvious. She wanted a boundless future, travelling the entire world!
As if it heard her thoughts, the Heavenly thread came off of Jiro and shot towards Hana. It entered into her body but Hana did not have a joyous expression, instead it was one of pain.
“I-it hurts!” She struggled.
“What!” Relic began to panic. He had never heard of this process being painful before. “Is the heavenly thread in your body?!”
Hana struggled to nod.
“Quickly, guide it towards your dantian!”
“Wha…”
“Concentrate, close your eyes and look inside! The heavenly thread wants to connect to you. You must show it the way!”
Hana put complete trust in her brother. She closed her eyes and tried to focus on the heavenly thread.
When she opened her eyes, she realised she was in an empty void like space. “This…where am I?”
BOOOM!
BOOOM!
BOOOM!
Hana crouched in pain as a thunderous noise could be heard up ahead.
“This…I’m inside…” She clenched her teeth and continued forward.
She soon arrived to the source of the thunderous noise. It was the heavenly thread and it was bashing against the void walls!
Hana spat out some liquid and grunted in pain.
“B-brother said to guide it to my dantian… but where is that?”
She looked around but all she saw was the black void.
The heavenly thread continued to thrash around, knocking into invisible walls and causing Hana electrifying pain.
Tears began to well up in her eyes as the pain accumulated in her body.
“Why does it hurt so much…am I not good enough....” Tears began to fall. Her thoughts slowly wandered into helplessness.
Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a dim blue dot. This dot was easy miss able and could not be described as being any larger than the tip of a pin needle from her angle. Yet, she was able to notice it through the tears of her eye.
Hana immediately knew what it was.
“That…must be the dantian!” She wiped the tears from her eyes and quickly headed towards the blue dot.
She soon arrived to a Hexagonal prism shaped dantian, just floating about. She instinctively began to reach towards the blue crystal like dantian and touched it.
Ping!
An intense light radiated from her dantian the moment she touched it and spread throughout the void. At that same moment, the heavenly thread stopped thrashing around and instead, shot towards the dantian.
BOOOM!
The heavenly thread connected with the dantian in an explosion of light. Hana quickly covered her eyes from the blinding light.
After a moment, she opened her eyes and was amazed at what she saw.
The black void was now completely lit with light and she could now see that the void space was not really void.
Orbs of light were spaced around the once dark void and were connected to the dantian by stings of light.
The dantian itself was now much bigger and was about 8x as large as it was previously. The heavenly thread was now gone and was replaced with a immaculate white bridge which stretched endlessly upwards. Even Hana could not see the end of the bridge.
All of these shocked and amazed Hana to no end.
While all this was happening, something tremendous was happening elsewhere.
….
“…and then it licked my hand and we bonded!” an excited childish voice rang out from a small green crystal in Cornelius’s hand.
“Mn, a Fire Claw Bear is a great partner to have. Jun Po, you make sure to treat your partner with care.”
“Yes, god-father. Will you be coming back soon?”
“Soon, I just have a couple of things left to do here. I should be able to make it back before your birthday.”
“Yay!” the child like voice became even more excited.
“Jun Po, say good bye to your god-father, I still have somethings to talk to him about.” A second, older male voice sounded from the crystal.
“Okay…Bye god-father.”
“Take care, Jun Po.” Cornelius said with a smile.
“Are you sure you can trust this kid?” The male voice said solemnly. “Even if you were both under the effects of a contract crystal, it doesn’t mean there aren’t ways around it. Who can believe a child would know the actual secrets of the three main trading groups and for those secrets to be so simple! Even our ancestors who lived for over a thousand years had never figured out the secrets for all three monopolies!.”
“I know…it really is hard to believe. But I truly feel like he was telling the truth. Will you listen to my request?”
“….” The voice went silent.
“Very well, I will do as you ask. Take care of yourself.”
“Mn, you too.”
The communication crystal went dim and Cornelius let out a breath of relief.
Cornelius was just about to head back to his immortal cave when a light tremor began to rumble the mountain.
“Hmm?”
The skies went gray with clouds and an immediate shower fell unto Heaven’s peak.
The citizens of Heaven’s peak all look up at the strange phenomenon.
The rain stopped as soon as it had started, and the gray clouds dispersed. Rays of golden light shined down and a rainbow quickly formed above Heaven’s Peak.
At this point, Yan Wen and Yan Mu also came outside to see what was happening.
Then….
Ring…Ring…Ring….
Three harmonious bells rang through the sky allowing everyone to hear the beautiful rings.
The rainbow slowly began to change. The two ends of the rainbow connected, forming a perfect circle which hovered above Heaven’s Peak.
A glittering light fell from the rainbow and descended onto Heaven’s Peak. One by one, more glittering light descended from the rainbow, covering the entire mountain and even some of its surrounding area.
The people of Heaven’s Peak who touched this light felt warm and rejuvenated. If they were down and unhappy before, they were now happy and full of life!
The mortals quickly though this was a blessing and danced cheerily.
While all the cultivators, including Cornelius looked up in absolute shock and awe.
“a-a-a DIVINE BLESSING!!!” they all shouted.

Alive?
In the ruins of a once glorious city, a mage awakens. As the sole survivor(?) of the cataclysm that destroyed his entire species, he’s forced to adapt. While learning the intricacies of his new body, he must first carve out a place for himself in a familiar yet foreign world before he can set out to reclaim his heritage. I cannot stress this enough: the character is not human, do not expect him to react like one. I know the hand on the cover only has five finger, but I doubt I am going to find a royalty free radiography with two perfectly functional thumbs placed in a sensible way anytime soon. The rewrite is finished. Beta readers are welcomed and I am still wondering whether I should put the sci-fi tag or not.

Dispatches from the Inter-galactic
Dispatches From The Inter-Galactic is a series of loosely related satirical stories which take place in a galaxy full of various interstellar civilizations and numerous space faring species generally described as consentients. This series is set in a galaxy which take place in a similar but not entirely unlike the galaxy in which my series Up in Space takes place While there are numerous themes related to interstellar life, several of the stories directly relate to specific themes such as; The pan-galactic ramifications to the use of supersymetrical energy sources (often drained from intera-located alternate and pocket realities.) the use of which by most interstellar civilizations is steadily increasing the overall amount of Dark Matter. This is increasing the mass of the galaxy and results in the occasional rips in inter-dimensional space as well as an overall increase in supernova activity. It is also speeding up the approach of the galaxy in Andromeda, which is of concern to several long lived civilizations; The Morphoids, a race of shape-changing consentients who are capable of using the space lanes created by the use of supersymetrical sourced energy to spread throughout the galaxy. They are currently viewed as threat number one by many space-faring species; and Xeno and exo-sexuality, as many species try to figure out what sort of enjoyment they can have with many of the species they encounter in space (only some of which are carbon-based, or more rarely, humanoid in appearance). This also relates to the altering of species to make reproduction somewhat easier for those with rather complicated lifestyles. A major force in this area of pursuit is the galactic visiteering industry, which promotes the ‘uplifting’ of more primitive planet-bound near-consentients.
