《The Forgotten Angels》Chapter 36

After ending the call, I turned around in time to see Tristen backhanded and sent flying off into the distance. He looked like a rag doll skipping along the ground until splashing into a lake two miles away. Aleana didn't seem to notice her husband bouncing off into the distance. She was teleporting from place to place firing arrows at the angel. The Angel ignored the annoying arrows, blocking them absentmindedly with his golden wings while facing Therlion again.
"Don't ignore me," shouted Arlean at the angel as she began pouring mana into the next shot. A blackish ball of energy began coalescing on the tip of her arrow while she chanted a spell. The angel noticing teleported directly below Therlion, grabbed his leg and threw him straight at Arlean. Arlean sidestepped but kept chanting I could see from my vantage her arrow head wobble a bit from the strain. Looking annoyed, the angel teleported directly behind Arlean, but right as he swung his arm he changed its direction to block my axe kick from above. He blocked in time, but he still shot toward the ground, landing with bent knees. Strangely the ground didn't buckle cracks ran outward from that location but his feet didn't even leave a dent in the ground.
"Whenever you're ready, Auntie." With a grunt, Arlean let loose. The black arrow reached its destination instantly, causing an explosion that rocked the entire region. I could even see more buildings topple in the city. Oops. Around the angel, a black sphere was roiling with dark bolts of energy dancing around the edges. While we watched hoping, this would be enough Tristen, and Therlion joined us both, grinning like fools. "What's so funny?" I ask.
"I haven't taken a hit like that in hundreds of years," Tristen laughed.
Therlion also grinned at that. "And he is the first in forever to have the nerve to call me an undead abomination. Oh, I see my dear sister coming and old Berger."
Looking toward the city I see them too I also see Thorgan sitting on a stone throne pointing above our heads.
All four of us look up at the same time to see an amused angel standing there, arms crossed, waiting for us. Seeing our attention back on him, he puled a sheet of golden paper from his robe. Clearing his throat, he began, "I am adjudicator Steve, Miss. Nalle Eversong you are accused of spying on the High council during their weekly meeting how do you plead?"
"Um, not guilty."
Steve waved his hand and a gold feather appeared in his hand "I see not guilty" he said while writing on the paper. "I will ask you some questions please answer with either yes or no. The High council claim they planted tracker on the person whom they caught spying. Do you consent to a full body scan to verify your innocence?"
"Wait, I can expl..."
"Yes or no, please."
"Now hold on there, she has a right to defend herself," Tristen shouted.
Steve gave an annoyed sigh "you six are irrelevant to the case leave." With a snap of his finger all six champions vanished, I hadn't even noticed Thorgan come over.
When Steve turned back, he said "yes or no."
I wanted to shout what did you do with my champions, but I didn't figure he would listen. Finally, I crossed my arms and said, "no."
"Very well, I shall take you into custody and confined until they decide your punishment."

"Do you or your council even have jurisdiction here?"
"They are the High council they have jurisdiction wherever they want. That's the privilege of power."
"So if I beat you in a fight, am I free to go?"
"For a time, they will send someone stronger if I fail. You should keep in mind those with power don't take a loss with grace."
"Okay, so in your professional opinion what's the chances of me winning a fight?"
Steves eyes glowed for a split second then another sheet of paper appeared grabbing it he scanned it "Hmm your not bad but still far from an archangel's power. I would give you good odds on any lower angels, but 0.5% at most against the weakest archangel, which I most definitely am not."
Shoulders slumped, I asked, "can I say goodbye to my family and friends? Oh, that reminds me, where did you send the others?"
"Those six nuisances I sent to the mainland as for saying goodbye, you have five minutes and I will be nearby."
"Okay thanks," I say as I turn to descend back to the ground followed by Steve. Landing in front of Mother, I give her a hug, stuffing the cube from Slate into her pocket. Before pulling back, "Mom, Dad, I apparently have to go for a while, I know it's sudden but Im being arrested — again by the High council of freaking angels." Stepping up to Father, I hug and whisper, "keep talking to me I need to speak to Michail." When I feel him nod and begin of all things lecturing me on how to behave in jail, I look inward.
Popping back into my little prison I take a moment to get my bearings. Michail had turned it into a comfy sitting room and he sprawled himself across a couch still watching the cat show. Closing my eyes for a second to calm my nerves I say "Hey bro you can stop pretending you're a prisoner I just found out how stupidly strong archangels are."
Jumping to his feet wide eyed, "they didn't really send an archangel, did they?"
"Yep, out of curiosity can you beat a guy called Steve? he likes paper if that helps."
"Nope, Steve is the top agent no one can beat him except maybe the High council themselves. But he is a good guy, just a stickler for the rules."
"Yeah, i got that he seems alright but I have no intention of going back to being a prisoner." Pulling out the remote waving it around "can I use this to escape?"
I watch Michail pace back and forth for several moments before he speaks "you could, but if he is around, he can follow you through. Also, you still have that tracker somewhere on your clothing. Best bet would be to do as he says until your alone and can lose the tracker before creating a portal."
"So not until im locked in a cell what if there is a cell mate?"
Shrugging Michail replies "take them with you then he stretches and the chains fall to the ground better leave the remote with me for now."
"Wait, will you still be in my head even if we're in different planes?"
Grinning, he said, "I linked our mindscapes and when you chained me you locked the path in place so my sweet baby twin sister your stuck with me. Oh, that reminds me my actual body is deep beneath your dungeon make sure Rocky don't damage it."

"Not sure how im supposed to give him that message but I Can tell Father to mention it where Rocky or another floor boss overhears."
He just waves me off "sounds good gimme the remote, I don't know if you are aware but cats nap in the sun a lot."
After throwing the remote at his head I turn and a second later I hear Father still talking. "That's why you never be to meek nor standout too much." Giggling slightly, I kiss his cheek to let him know im back and he breathes a sigh of relief.
Steve apparently had had enough "she is not going to prison, she will await trial in a dungeon so all that advice is pointless. Lets go, he said to me."
"Wait about how long is the wait for trial and how will I stay there aren't I locked into this universe's laws or something?"
"I can exempt you from planer backlash, as for the trial," one second. Then his eyes glowed again before another paper appears. "Ah your in luck there is only a six hundred year wait."
"Now there are a couple items we need to deal with before we go." the ever stoic Steve said while running a finger down his paper. "First, you must hand over your territory to a person or persons. Second, the entity known as Sammy will need to accompany you, as her mother she needs to feed off your essence. Let's see ah bound faerie currently comatose I shall place a dimensional seal on her bag of holding that will be removed upon completion of your sentence."
Peering around Steve to see what all is on his paper, he moves it a little to let me look, but all I see is a blank paper. Shrugging I turn back to Mother I say with a wink. "Tell Charlotte and Stacy what's going on and that I will see them soon. Oh, ya, everything you need for the translator is in that cube... I think I forgot to ask how to access it," I say sheepishly.
"Okay, before I hand back all the territories I need to build something, is that alright Mr. Steve?" He just shrugs and sits down on my golden throne while keeping an eye on me. Turning to the open field, I gather mana into my hand and when I think there is enough I pushed it into the ground. A small rumbling could be felt and a small arch popped out of the ground, followed by a small block of granite to the side. "Whew all done," I say while wiping my hands together. Turning back to the group instead of awe, all I see is incredulity.
"Seriously, after all that buildup, that's what we get," says an amused Steve from my throne. "What even is it?"
Blinking, I turn to look at my handiwork. "It's a gateway for the portals people keep opening up everywhere. See, that's the control panel where you can pick which one to open."
Steve turned to the group "well I hope you weren't planning on doing much trade with your neighbors. Okay, Miss. Nalle, pass control to someone and grab your faerie child."
Witha huff, I stomp over to Father mumbling, "It's not like im an engineer or architect or whoever builds stuff. I am an Elementalist/Tank I prefer to break things rather than build."
Grabbing Father's hand I smile up at him "you can deal with the territory, keep it sell it whatever." Then I send a bit of power inside him then whisper, " I fixed Mom's problem you should put a kid in her soon." Jumping up, I kiss his cheek then skip over to Mother.
After taking a sleeping Sammy and placing her in my pocket, I lean forward. "I fixed Dad's problem you should try to get a kid from him as soon as possible." After hugging and giving Mother a peck on the cheek, I began walking back to Steve, holding out my wrists.
"Okay copper take me in I surrender." Steve only rolled his eyes, nodded to the audience, placed a hand on my shoulder and Poof off we go.
The six champions of veridian stood on a dock where a small crowd had gathered to stare. Until a small man about two feet tall with an oversized nose stepped forward. "Hello noobs, which nursery did you lot drift ashore from?"
Darnath who hadn't been talked to like that since he was a very young child was about to step forward to smack the little bugger when the little man grinned. "Before you make a move, check your stats."
Name Tristen Darnath
Race Dwarf
Class N/A lvl — 1
HP — 100 MP — 100
Str — 10 Dex — 10
Int — 10 Cha — 10
Turning to stare at his companions and judging by their pallor, he could guess it was mutual.
An annoying giggle from Therlion made everyone's eyes twitch. "Well, at least we don't have those atrocious titles anymore."
"Alright, you lot time to answer my question if we're to get you settled."
Harriet sighed and stepped forward, "Im sorry sir, what was the question again."
"What nursery did you come from?" The man said slowly drawing out each syllable.
"Well, the 'land' we came from is called veridian."
The man snapped his fingers and a human woman stepped forward, handing him a scroll, he unrolled and trailed a finger down. "Well, well, you're not on the list perhaps a new island appeared out in the storms happens from time to time. Or the people of your island are stupid and weak and took forever to leave."
That made a few eyes twitch, but they kept silent better for everyone if it is believed their island is new, heck for all they know it is comparatively speaking.
"Come along ill show you to the nuub inn, it's free the first month also here is a copy of the local laws. I would recommend learning that soon ignorance is not a defense. Also here is a guidebook of the local guilds and class trainers: if you need such things, many choose to stick with what they did in the nursery. However, some like to try something new, especially those who spent thousands of years to get here." At that comment, the small man snorted. "Imagine being coddled in the nursery for thousands of years, I shudder to think of it."
At first the six companions didn't know what to think, but as they followed the annoying man grins broke out on their faces at the thought of the fresh adventures that awaited them.
A month passed since Steve had arrested Nalle. Charlotte and Stacy are standing nervously in line to enter the gateway with the Dexter, the Catkin ambassador. "Are you both certain you want to go?" Dexter said patiently. "The magic works differently in our world you will have to start from the beginning."
"We are," said Stacy "we have a super secret mission to do there. Our best friend who is currently in jail in heaven or something said someone in your world needs our help." Charlotte only nodded, looking around at all the strange new machinery that is getting popular around Khuzdul.
"Im not sure how secrets work on this world, but on ours we don't tell them to others," Dexter replied with a chuckle.
"Hey the gate is opening," Charlotte says as the gem on top changed to a vivid purple.
"Well Ladies, I hope you find this person in time hmm did your friend give you anything to go on? Perhaps I can point you in the right direction."
Stacy thought for a moment, tapping her chin. "Well, she said to go explore and let fate be your guide."
Derek gasped "whatever you do, don't mention fate on Vulde it is a taboo subject."
"Oh, how so" asked Charlotte, interested in the conversation for the first time.
Derek blinked "I don't know its taboo that means we don't talk about it."
Stacy giggled "that's weird but ok I won't say a word." then the two shook the ambassador's hand and walked through the gateway.

Black Wind, White Lotus
In this world, there are haves and have nots. The former are pureblooded humans, some of whom are capable of manipulating qi, the mysterious energy that flows through every living creature, to miraculous results that defy the laws of nature and physics. Wen Feili was one such cultivator. However, she allied with the have nots- the anthropomorphic hybrids incapable of channeling qi-and dabbled in forbidden demonic arts, seeking to change the very composition of reality. This did not end well for her, and she was consumed by her own flames. A decade later, far in the northwestern mountains, her daughter Wen Fengli is working as a lowly servant of the minor Shuangshan sect. In between sweeping the floor and avoiding bullies, she secretly trains with a wooden sword, hoping to become a warrior cultivator at some point in the future. However, since she's part-human, part-wolf, it's just a pipe dream. ....or so she bitterly thought. However, one day a mysterious amulet that belonged to her mother falls into her hands. A deranged old master, a terrible conspiracy, a mysterious past? None of that matters to tomboyish wolfgirl, who only seeks to become stronger. She embarks on a journey of adventure and self-discovery, towards the mysterious southern lands where pure demi-humans are said to live...as spectre of war once again envelops the world of man. This is a Chinese-themed fantasy story set in a fictional world. You can classify it as xianxia, if you wish, but it's a rather low fantasy variant; the heavenly realm is silent, no one reached immortality in generations, and magical artifacts of old are locked away and feared. Magical beasts and spirits have been driven to the corners of civilisation, and "ordinary" abilities such as flying or controlling swords through telekinesis are considered spectacular feats. The main plot of this book revolves around a kemonomimi girl who seeks power, no matter the cost. This story also features multiple character pov, and will not always follow the perspective of the mc- there are two major plotlines, one connected to conspiracy and war ongoing in the political background of the presented world, and the other focusing on the main character's physical and metaphorical journey. Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
