《Reincarnated Cat Becomes a Magical Beast》Chapter 14: Little Kitten Learns Spells (2)

Swish!
Three boxes, identical to the one from before were pulled out from Jonathan's bag of holding and placed delicately in front of the little kitten, whose eyes lit up with excitement once more.
Two out of the three boxes were duplicates of the first box while the final box differentiated itself by being a sky blue colour. Jonathan started with the two normal, wooden coloured boxes first and opened their contents simultaneously.
With the lids of the two boxes peeled off, the little kitten could see that inside these boxes were the same azure blue stone and books that she couldn't read once more.
"These two spells are especially used by Magical Beasts! The first spell is called the 'Ravager Armour' spell. As you can imagine, this spell is a defensive spell that will bind its user a protective armour. This spell can use two elements to fuel it! Earth and Metal. The spell is strongest when used with the element of Metal, but to create an armour of metal that can surround your whole body can by rather tiring. Though with your small stature, that shouldn't be much of an issue; that's why this spell is perfect for you! Also, just cause this spell is a Late stage spell doesn't mean you can't attempt to learn it now. You'll probably be unable to use Metal fully in the spell, but with the help of using Earth you could make a weaker but still strong version of the 'Ravager Armour' spell. Got that?"
"Meow!" The little kitten let's out it's usual meow. 'So the first one was a Magical Art with several spells split up into five realms while this is a singular spell that provides great defence... With just these two I could probably... Not die in a battle with another Magical Beast or Magician at the same level, maybe. Sigh... This guys quite something, I might not even become their Tamed Beast and he's still willing to pay for all these spells. I didn't see how much they cost, but they couldn't have been cheap...'

Before her thoughts could progress any further, Jonathan's voice woke her from her stupor.
"Good! The next spell is called 'Celestial Claw' and is actually the first spell in a Magical Art! However, that Magical Art is quite rare and costs quite a penny. For now, the first spell is good enough to greatly increase your offensive capabilities! The Magical Art is called the 'Celestial Wind Arts' by the way, so if you ever find good fortune and come across more spells from that Art or even the Art itself, definitely vie for it!"
"Meow!"
"Now onto the last box!"
When he said this, Jonathan proceeded to point to the final box which was painted blue like the sky.
"The colour of this box signifies the rarity and the worth of this item. This isn't just for items in the 'Howling Paragon' but is a universal concept. Items have three colours that show off its rarity. Blue is a normal rarity, next is purple and the most rare is Gold. A good thing to know is that the higher an items rarity doesn't correlate to it's power. Items are first ranked with the following ranks: Dull, Vibrant and Pulsing!
Dull Magical items are for Magician's of Natural State and Foundation Rank or for Minor and Major Maical Beast Rank! Vibrant is for Inner Haven and Spirit Rank or Minor and Major Transcendence Rank! And finally, Pulsing is for the Magician's and Magical Beast's beyond... Anyway, as you can tell then. This item is a Dull Magical Item of blue rarity!"
"Meow..." The little kitten's eyes were spinning after such a long explanation and she couldn't help but take several seconds in thought to process everything. 'So items are ranked as well. Dull, Vibrant and Pulsing?... These three ranks correlate to the items strength, while the colour ranks Blue, Purple and Gold correlate to the items rarity!... I see...'

"It's a lot to take in, I know. You'll come to understand this as time goes on... Well, you'll have plenty of time to let this all settle and learn much more!" Jonathan smirked.
"Meow!"
"Now then, let's open this up!" As Jonathan opened the final box the little kitten could see that the insides were much the same as the other boxes with the exception of the book, which was now also a blue colour. On the book was the phrase 'Arrows Shattering Sky Arts', though of course the little kitten remained ignorant of this much to her growing frustration.
"This little lass is another Magical Art! This Magical Art has 5 stages. Starting at the Late stage of Minor Rank up to Late Minor Transcendence Rank. Once again, this art can be used by both Magician's and Magical Beast's. However, this can only be used with the metal element due to the nature of the spell. In this magic you will form various arrows of different strengths and numbers to attack your enemy or even to defend. In each stage there are various spells, in the first stage alone there are two spells. The differentiating factor of these stages is different for each advancement of stage, it can be an increase in the number of arrows you can create or the creation of a special type of arrow. You will naturally find out when you study this art...
Now then, I think that's everything. Little lass, it's very late and while a Magician's and Magical Beast's aura can be used as a source of energy to fend off hunger, thirst and tiredness, it is still beneficial for us to sleep because it revitalizes the mind. And when learning magic, you obviously want to have your brain in it's best condition. So go to sleep before you even attempt touching any of these Echo stones! Got that?!"
"Meow..."
"Nuh huh, don't give me those eyes. To bed!"
The little kitten could barely sleep at all that night as her thoughts wandered from working through all she had just learned and her excitement for the future.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

Everyone knows how the general story is supposed to go. That is until the summoned hero throws a Hail Mary and gets himself transported to a tutorial world before the summoning can be completed. Add in a clumsy goddess and a broken planet and that is just where our story begins... Greetings all, thanks for taking the time to read this. This is my first story here on RRL and it's becomming one of the things I look forward to working on each day. As of June 2020, the story description has been updated (now that the characters have told me what was actually going on this author thought it prudent to update this) . Updates will be sporatic as i have time to juggle real life with writing. You the readers have become an integral part of the story helping to decide how things will progress, so enjoy the story and please leave a review or rating so this author can continue to improve the story. New chapters coming soon with edits to existing ones in process As a side note, I wish I could add a science tag to this. While this is still fiction, I have been incorporating real life scientific theories and explanations for how things could be *plausibly* explained. (No, I will not lecture on these points, but they are added to author notes) ~badw0lf
