《Drakon the Necrolord v2》Interlude: Aura's tale
Advertisement
Aura's tale. I asked Drakon if I could tell my story myself as it would make a lot more sense that way. Best to start about 50 years before I was born. A dragon showed up at the kobold city of Undermountain. As kobolds are very susceptible to dragon-charm the dragon convinced them to attack some of the nearby dwarven settlements and give it all the loot. My grandmother was raped by one of the kobold chieftains during one of those raids. And nine months later my dad was born. Half-dwarf half-kobold. That by itself is pretty rare as normally longer lived races have a hard time having children as it is. Let alone add an even lower chance of pregnancy with parents of two different races. Humans are the big exception to that. They seem to be able to breed with almost anyone without issue. Anyways, my grandmother raised my dad with the help of her clan. A lot of Dwarven settlements are pretty xenophobic, and my grandmothers' town was no exception. As soon as my dad had his awakening he joined an adventuring company. There he met my mom and after a few years of adventuring together, they fell in love. And almost nineteen years ago now I was born. My mom died doing a dungeon when I was only a couple of years old, and my dad retired from adventuring at that point. We moved back to my grandmothers' town, where at least the clan welcomed us with open arms. The rest of the city not so much. I grew up being bullied a lot and spent most of my time in the clan compound tinkering with all kinds of inventions. Then when a couple of years ago word reached us that the new continent was open. My dad decided to move here. My grandmother who by that time had married stayed behind but a lot of younger cousins of mine and a few apprentices decided to join us in coming here. After over a year of travelling, we finally made it. The cart I have I designed on the way so that I could have a travelling workshop. When I awakened, thank god I was a technomancer and not a blacksmith. Making the same thing over and over again would drive me mad. I would rather spend time troubleshooting and repairing things. Or designing new contraptions and weapons. I designed old yeller here myself. That's the repeating crossbow I built. I named it that way because people start yelling and running away when I try to use it. It has a five-shot magazine and I can choose to have each bolt use up a little bit of mana to add some elemental damage. It has a fire selector for normal, fire, electricity and cold. Still trying to figure out if I can add in acid or poison or something along those lines. My current milestones deal with designing new things. And I found a rare milestone a few weeks ago while researching in the library, to make my first pair of automatons. And I decided on making a pair of mechanical wolves. Four feet are easier than two design-wise. I'll let Drakon get back to the story now, but I might interject some of my thoughts here and there if I feel like it's needed.

Demon Hunters
Far in the future, the last two viable cities in the western hemisphere – Technoburbia and New Baravia – struggle for control over a vast and largely desolate land. Officially they are at war. In practice, the war has been a stalemate for a generation, the disputed frontier between the two city-states never moving. In the city of New Baravia itself, a vast circular concrete wall keeps its inhabitants in, and its refugees out. For its citizens, life is monotonous and unequal, with enormous wealth in the hands of nobles, criminal gangs, and entertainment bosses. It is the last of these that control the hit entertainment show, “Demon Hunters”. A chance, perhaps, for the ordinary man or woman to rise up, and change their fate... This LitRPG novella is based around a futuristic battle-royale situation, partly set in VR, and partly in a post-apocalyptic city. The story features combat and action, some strong language, and lots of great characters that will stick with you! [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Aristocratic Avenue
Andrew had a pretty simple life plan: write LitRPG fiction, make a boatload of cash, and... well, he'd figure out what he actually wanted to do with the cash once he'd gotten it. But things haven't worked out quite as he'd hoped. After dozens of failed LitRPG serial attempts and countless thousands of words written, he's found himself pushing forty and broke, living alone in a crappy apartment. But when the platform upon which he publishes his work, Aristocratic Avenue, gains sentience, he and his fellow writers suddenly finds themselves transported to a playground of its own making, a place where there are no rules except the ones the authors have imposed upon themselves through their own writing. Spawned in pods of three, they will need to work together to figure out just what the darned heck they're supposed to be doing and how to get the goodness gracious out of there. In Andrew's pod are the bossy and enigmatic Margeaux Sinclair, crossover erotica/LitRPG author who immediately demands increasingly kinky sex from the hapless Andrew in order to level up. There's also teenager Zachary, who is rather regretting his choice to write about a world populated only by the undead. Turns out, it's kinda hard to talk when your lips are rotting off.Armed only with his skills of Deduction and Investigation and an inspirational mug he managed to bring along with him from home, Andrew is determined to answer one question:What the ever-loving blessed little heart?!---This is a blow-off-steam hobby project, and I can't tell you how often it'll update as it's dependent on my regular work.
