《Money Grubbing Demon Lord》Ch 11 Profuse

A full five months had passed for the Hero and his Party when Rotenburg celebrated its year anniversary of having a wonderful leader.
The Hero himself was surrounded by three beautiful girls and one really feminine boy. The Hero was obviously charming and witty. He had managed to successfully woo the Princess, resulting in the Party's collars coming off.
The five otherworlders trained wholeheartedly to defeat the Demon that had invaded the Kingdom. However, they held a slight bias against the Kingdom, as they were once enslaved by them.
To be honest, they were already aware that the Demon Lord was probably a really cool person. The King himself sighed along with the General and Advisor. They apparently went to Rotenburg before and wanted to go again.
Their source of apprehension was obviously the Pope, the head of the Church. He even made several attempts to get the girls to sleep with him, though he never said it outright.
If a creepy old man wanted to give you a random drink of something, would you accept?
Probably not.
The Princess had filled the Hero and his Party in on the details, so they understood the current predicament. However, they couldn't do anything.
They had to kill the Demon Lord or somehow kill the Pope and destroy the church. Most of the nobles were in the Church's pocket, as they supplied all manner of immoral indulgences in order to come out on top.
The public thought the Church's ways were correct since they had no access to the truth. The Royal Family would vehemently pass on the tale orally, hoping someday the King would topple the Church.
It was a strange process.
The Heroes were to stop the Church and save the Demon Lord if they thought about it.
Of course, saying it out loud was a taboo…and really embarrassing.

Back in Rotenburg, the Golems had taken on a life of their own. The person in charge of them left some to live around the Elementals to take care of them and retrieve the magic stones, but they changed.
Elemental Golems!
The proficiency for Necromancy Magic was being raised as Lord Beltos raised more skeletons and zombies. Now he could restructure the bodies to become either more menacing or more humanlike. This allowed for the Undead to wield weapons and wear armor.
He was essentially increasing the amount of strong soldiers at his disposal.
If they had wanted to successfully take out the Demon Lord without casualties, the Kingdom had failed already. The Pope was blindly trusting in the Heroes since he was merely a puppet of his line of work.
The previous Pope had raised him to follow, teaching him the necessities and how the world works. He didn't have faith in the Church but in the past Pope himself. He wanted to be just like the previous one…but he was too blinded by that superficial image in his head that he had made too many mistakes.
And now he was going to have to pay for it.
Not from Lord Beltos, no.
From everyone else. If the Kingdom should ever attack Rotenburg or Esthervale, the Empire would step in. Their supplier disappearing? No way!
The King made secret connections with people outside the realm of the Pope's influence and was ready for the usurpation. He actually didn't mind being a part of the Empire.
The day the Kingdom fell was nearly upon them.
All because of a certain money loving Demon.

Unbound Deathlord: Challenge
Due to Amazon's Kindle Unlimited rules, I had to pull most of the book content from RoyalRoad. Only sample chapters remain. To read a fiction that will never be removed from Royal Road, I recommend my other fiction: Immortal Conqueror. The first two books of the series are out on Amazon: Book 1: Unbound Deathlord: ChallengeBook 2: Unbound Deathlord: Obliteration Book 1: Challenge When virtual reality becomes real enough that people feel as if they’re being transported to another world, Valia Online arrives.A man running from his past joins the game to forget it all. Calling himself Jack Thorn, he chooses an undead race, Deathlord.A mage by choice, and a swordsman by necessity, he soon finds out that he’ll need to use much more than magic and steel to survive; strategy, creativity, and carefully chosen words can often accomplish what simple attacks can’t.As the game becomes too real and touches a part of him that he’d rather leave buried, he is faced with two questions:Who is he, really? And who should he become?
