《Magical Cosmic》Chapter 23: The Camp and Teleporter R

The crescent moon had just appeared in the sky, replacing the sun which had been swallowed by the earth. The illumination of the moon was brightening the dark ground below with its peculiar light that had a trace of greenish color. Yet the people at the camp below didn’t question it in the least as if it was a normal thing for them.
The camp was full of soldiers, iron armored soldiers that vigilantly observing the surroundings. Although most of them had the appearance of a duty obedient soldier, a lot of the soldiers were yawning and began to show signs of fatigue.
One of the guards guarding the entrance suddenly spoke, no longer able to hold his boredom, “When will this hide and seek come to an end? I’ve been guarding this place for a few days already and I’ve enough!!”
“Hush! You don’t want that to be heard by the higher up, would you?” rebuked the other guard with a red nose at his side.
"The hell I care! When this assignment is finished, I’d like to resign from my post and become a mercenary instead. That job will definitely bring more riches to me.”
“You….” Cold sweat trickled down the red-nosed guard's face as he looked around, finding if anyone was eavesdropping.
“What you-you? We’ve been sleeping while holding our spears for two days straight, just because of those incompetent knights can’t find a little girl!” The spear guard hit the ground hard with his spear.
"Hey! What's with this ruckus?" Unexpectedly, a middle-aged man with a mustache came out from behind.
“P-patrol leader! We just discussing a few things back at home, ahahaha… ain't that right?" The red-nosed guard tugged the first guard with a sour smile.
“Y-yeah…”
Finding that his subordinates were lying, the leader could only encourage, "I know that you guys have a complaint but just keep it up for another day or two, those foreign knights are professional. They should have caught mi… the girl by now."
““Sir, yes sir!””
Suddenly, a guard with a lantern came and reported, “Sir, it’s time to change shift.”
“Hmm? You two, go have dinner and rest for an hour. I’ll be the one guarding this place in the meantime.”

“”Yes!”” The two guards hurriedly went to the camp.
“Sir, is it really fine for you to be the one guarding the entrance?” inquired the lantern guard.
“Aiyah… Since the incident a few days ago, I’d been feeling guilty. I’d like a time for myself in self-reflection.” The patrol leader then gazed at the green moon in the sky.
“Guess, it’s the month of the green, wasn’t it? The next month should be the middle of summer, I think I’d like to withdraw for a month or two to calm my head.”
“But, sir—”
Raising his arm to stop him, the patrol leader said, "No need to continue. I'm already old, getting promoted was just a pipe dream to me. I'm also indebted to the butler of the previous lord."
“The butler of the previous lord? Does sir mean…” The guard glanced at the tent in the corner.
“Yes, he was being kept here. If I could… No, never mind.” He shook his head, took a deep breath, and glanced at the lantern guard. “Anyway, this is just an advice for you. Fate will always have an up and down, no matter what you do, just keep in mind that you aren’t able to always control it.”
“Yes, I’ll keep that in mi…nd”
“What? Why is your face suddenly paled?”
“Sir, did you see a silhouette of something in the sky?” The guard pointed at one part of the sky while lifting the lantern.
“Hmm? Where? I didn’t see anything. It must be a hallucination.”
The night was dark and eerie, normal to assume for it to be a hallucination or an eye trick. Moreover, people’s fear could influence their mindset.
“N-no sir, I’m certain that—”
“Enough! Just go back to the camp and rest!”
Boom! Boom! Boom!
All of a sudden, lots of small explosions exploded on the outskirts and even in some parts of the camp. Flames spread and brightening the surrounding with a blazing red.
“J-just what… is going on?” The lantern guard abruptly stepped back and fell to the ground, trembling.
“This must be a work of a strong Magus! We need to hurry and told the others to escape from this place!” The patrol leader helped the guard to stand up before running to the camp.

Seeing that, the lantern guard could only follow suit hurriedly.
This… is more effective than I thought it was. I couldn’t help my eyes from being glued to the sight of the fire in the camp. Guess, it takes me back 30 minutes ago.
“…..”
30 minutes prior, in the spaceship.
Just after I ordered that to ATA, I decided to tell Lillie what happened. Naturally, I sugar-coated the content so it wasn’t so horrible. She sobbed though, and I patted her head in consolation. "Don't cry anymore, I’ll save your butler now."
“Hiks* Really? Victor wants to safe Lillie's butler?” She stared at me with her pure watery eyes. Well, I just want more information. But let’s just leave it at that.
“Yes, now cheer up as there’s no use crying.”
“Uh-huh~,” She had her tears erased by her two long sweater sleeves, then smiled at me like she was only faking it.
A few minutes later, a drone found a camp 40 km in the north. Since the spaceship had been going aimlessly to the east, the camp should be located around 50 km northeast from the crash site. Next, I surveyed the holo-screen projecting the camp and found that it was tightly guarded. I started calculating the remaining arsenal while also changing the course of the ship.
Hmm… I’m almost run out of sleeping gas and the camp was too big. Guess, I’d have no choice but to use flammable missiles to scare them away.
Well, I could use other arsenals, but I don't think killing innocent people for no reason is a good idea. I may have killed the knights earlier, but those just because I’ve no other choice.
Before long, I could see the camp from the ship. By magnifying the sight, I spotted lots of guards guarding the place. The drones had surveyed the place secretly, though as I didn’t want to risk it being found out by anyone; they could only survey it from afar.
“Oops! Almost forgot to get the ship into invisible mode.”
As the ship got invisible, I locked the target of the missiles to the outskirts of the camp and several deserted locations inside. We may be a different human race. Yet killing them isn’t different than killing normal people. Well, here goes nothing.
Subsequently, several missiles were launched from the ship. Flying in the air, accompanied by a roaring sound of rockets burning.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Sound of explosions spread around the place and flames emerged and burned everything in its wake. I couldn't help but swallowed my saliva upon seeing the scenery in front of me.
And that's what happens. I scratched my hair, looking at Lillie which currently sitting at the chair in the corner. She seemed to be ignorant of what happened at the camp.
“Lillie, you stay here. I’ll be back in a mo—"
“No, let Lillie accompany Victor. Lillie wants to save butler Brown too!”
Seeing the grit in Lillie’s eyes, I sighed, “Hah… fine, but you need to stay close to me.”
“W-well, if that what Victor wanted.” She clung to me after somewhat had her cheeks redden.
Ah… That's not what I mean by staying close to me but that still works anyway. I rubbed my glabella, but then proceed to a 3 meters tall tube looking device with Lillie in tow.
“Victor, what’s this strange object?”
“It’s a teleporter, a device that could send human beings elsewhere.” Hmm… If I remember correctly, it only just been a century or two since the invention of it. Still quite a new device, I would say.
Since it wasn’t efficient to descend the ship first before going out, I decided to use the teleporter. I grabbed three strange belts at the side, storing it into my dimensional storage.
“Uhm… What’s that strap? It looks weird.”
“It’s a tracker essential to bring us back to the ship later.”
Well, couldn’t be helped as this junk was only the first generation, the newer one would use a small bracelet as tracker instead. Heck, it might not use anything at all to bring people back to the ship.
Next, we got into the teleporter and a while light enveloped us slowly. Then, the frosty voice of ATA rang out, [Initiating teleporting…. Teleporting commences.]
And thus, the sound of humming spread around before a feeling of weightlessness pervaded me and my vision went blurry.
