《Magical Cosmic》Chapter 32: Exploring A Fantasy Town Part I

As we reached the outskirts of the town, the guarded wall of Anarla was within sight. There were a dozen guards guarding the gate equipped with spears and light leather armor. They were strictly checking the identity, as well as the luggage people might carry.
I realized that my suit would attract attention, but it just so happened that I had brought a device in anticipation of that. My hand reached out for the dimensional storage before grabbing two round pins with an intricate design.
“Here, take one, Lillie.” I gave her one after putting one on my suit.
“Okay!” She then put it on her cream-white sweater.
Now that I think about it, aren’t Lillie always using the same type of clothes? It’s not that she was using the same sweater, as the constructor had made a few, but maybe I should buy her a few more different clothes.
After that, I pushed the button of the pin before a hologram light encompassed me and changed the look of my suit. Lillie’s appearance also changed but since I had ATHENA, I could see her original look. We then went to the town’s gate and line up.
Not long after, it was our turn. A middle-aged guard with a mustache and a kind look halted us, “Halt! It will be 100 Ralz and an identification card to get into the town.”
Unconsciously, my hand touched the dimensional storage as I thought, Identification card? This world had those huh... As for Ralz, it seems to be a named of currency used in Ralonia, and I think Brown explained that it worth 1 copper coin per Ralz.
“Unfortunately, I lost my identification card. My name is Victor, a traveling peddler from another region that would like to register in the merchant guild in the town.” I lied as naturally as breathing.
The guard showed a suspicious look before turning to Lillie, “And who’s this little missy? Does she also lost her card?"
“Yes, she’s my niece… Lillian. Here, just help us pass.” My hand secretly passed a gold coin to him.
“Ah… sorry for the inconvenience… Just please re-register in the administration hall soon and don’t cause any trouble!” The guard advised as he gave way.
“The merchant guild and the administration hall should be located at the plaza, just follow the main street and it will take you there. And if you were to find any difficulties, just look for me here, my name is Gordon, a veteran guard.” He added.

“I understand, thank you very much.” Heh… it seems that the camouflage badge is working but just to be sure….
"Uhm… by the way, what do I look like?
“Hmm? What are you talking about? you looked like...” The guard rubbed his eyes a bit before continuing, “A young man wearing a traveling clothes…"
Just when we were passing the gate and the guard was out of sight, Lillie suddenly chuckled, “Fufufu… Victor is a liar.” Ah… being told like that by her is somehow hurt.
As we entered the town, I realized that the town was quite packed with people. There were those with traveler clothing, townsfolk, and even merchant could be seen here and there. We then advanced down the main street of the town and soon enough the meaty scent of kebabs wafted into my nostrils.
For some reason, there was a tugging on my hand that directed me to the source of the smell. As I was still experiencing the feeling of going into a Fantasy town, I didn’t realize that it was Lillie pulling my hand to a kebab stand at the side.
“Hello there, travelers! Are you hungry for some meat?” The kebab stand owner smiled as he gazed at me and Lillie.
“Ah…” I noticed that Lillie’s mouth was watering up and her eyes glued to the meat.
“… I would like some kebabs. But would you tell me what kinds of meat available?”
“Of course, of course! There were a fluffy horn rabbit meat, wingless chicken meat, and a special meat." The stand owner held his two hands together as he explained.
“What is a special meat?”
“It’s a magical beast meat. Meat that was known for its nutritional value and rareness. I’m lucky to get one recently.” The stand owner puffed his chest with pride. Interesting. Guess, I would buy that one then.
“We’d like two no, three kebabs. All special meat, please.”
“Coming right up! That will be 25 Ralz or 5 big copper coins each, meaning 15 big copper coins total.”
As I didn't have a small currency, I gave him a silver coin. And it seemed that a silver coin worth 100 Ralz and a gold coin worth 10000 Ralz. The stand owner then gave four kebabs to me and 5 big copper coins as change.
“Thanks for your patronage.”
“Huh? Why four?”
“Don’t worry, it’s on the stand for the cute little missy there. She reminds me of my daughter.” The stand owner smiled before adding, “And I don’t know if I should tell you but you look like a peddler. Did you hear the recent rumor?”

“Rumor? Is there anything happening recently?”
“There has been an influx of weak magical beast coming from Anarla Hills and lots of mercenaries have been hunting them. It's also where I got the meat, since you may be a peddler, it might be a good opportunity.”
“Interesting, thanks for the info.”
“No problem.”
Subsequently, I had the smart helmet scanned the food before giving two of the kebabs to Lillie after ascertaining that it was safe. She immediately snatched and ate it like she never ate anything for a few days. The smear of sauce on her mouth was funny to see.
“Whoa there, Lillie. You should eat more slowly if you’re a noble. The food smeared on your cheek.” I shook my head suggestively.
“Wipe it for Lillie.” She directed her smeared cheek to me while closing her eyes. This little girl… she’s too spoiled. And this meat, although it tastes quite bland, it had a good texture and juicy.
It had been a few days since I had been freely breathing the air outside. ATA had made all kinds of medicine and antibiotics in anticipation that if I were to be infected, but there haven’t been any symptoms so far.
Afterward, we continued to stride the main road. Previously, I didn't survey the building thoroughly but after some inspection, I realized that they had a Victorian-style architecture. Hmm… I wonder if the other part of this world had a different style of architecture? Well, I should just explore more when I had the chance.
A few moments later, we reached a quite wide plaza. There was a water fountain in the middle with lots of stalls on the far side. As I was surveying the place, my eyes stopped at the crowd of people at the side. They were cheering in enthusiasm as if watching a performance.
Curious, I approached them and saw that a street performer was doing a magic trick. He was wearing funny clothes and was in the middle of using a tool that created a myriad of small spark of fire, spurt of water, and a dreamy purple cloud.
“Wait, is that really a magic trick?” Murmured me to myself.
[“Master~! Those weren’t created by a magic trick. I detected that the tool was somehow able to absorb something from the air and convert it into what it was designed into. From the data gathered on the book written by Brown, it seems to be called a Magic Tool.”] ATHENA suddenly explained with her cheerful voice and emoticon.
“Magic Tool, huh?” As I was in deep contemplation, suddenly someone pulled my sleeve.
“Victor, Lillie couldn’t see the performance.” She tried to tiptoe but failed to see what was ahead.
Well, it was surrounded by people and Lillie was only around 140 cm tall, that makes sense.
“Well, let’s just go to the administrative hall. We still weren’t registered yet.” With that, I ignored Lillie's plight and went to search for the building.
After searching for a while, I found a building made entirely of white stone. It had pillars supporting the building and made it look stylish. There were also two guards protecting the entrance.
“Let’s go in, Lillie…” For some reason there wasn’t any response, thus my eyes gazed at Lillie.
“Hmph! Stupid Victor!” Lillie was puffing her cheeks in discontent. She refused to look at me and held her arms. Ah… did I offend her? Was it because I ignored her before?
“I’ll give you a candy later if you follow me.” I gave a wry smile and tried to bribe her.
As if persuaded by that, her brows started twitching before demanding, “Gimme a lot!” This spoiled brat… This side of her is kinda annoying, but she’s just a kid anyway.
When we got in, I saw that it was filled with people who look like officials, going here and there with a stack of brown paper in their hands. I was surprised to find that the place was quite crowded. Maybe the rumor that the stall owner told may have something to do with this.
I approached the counter located not far from the entrance and began to register an identification card. ATHENA had gathered written language from the town and the book made by Lillie; therefore, I didn't have any difficulty in writing and reading.
Before long, two cards of identification were given to us after paying 500 Ralz each. We then went out to continue exploring the town.

Soon Adebar finds himself tasked with ridding a town of a mad killer, and settling some lethal family quarrels.Word from the AuthorGreetings! The Hand of Sigmar plays out in the much beloved Warhammer Fantasy setting (owned, of course, by Games Workshop). Do not fret, however, as I've made it a point to make the story digestible even to the uninitiated, and maybe even be a good introduction to the setting. This work will be shorter overall, partly because its born out of a sudden passion, partly because I thought I'd try my hand at a more comfortable story than the grim darkness of the 41st Millenium (psychotic murderer and fraudulent holyman included). Depending on how this does and my time allows more adventures may be coming. While I cannot claim the places, concepts and gods etc. mentioned within as my own, the story and all characters flowed from my own fingers.
