In the planet Nexus, in the half-forested, half-plains land of Zhaperon, there lived two families. One, under the rule of a just and all-too-impudent queen. The other, under the rule of a young man with too high ambitions, or rather, a terrible greed to rule Zhaperon.
The intro took place in the period when they were at war, but we will take a quick look at the history.
Preston Huil, the First, was a rather soft-hearted creature. He was a guardian of all nature, proven by the fact that a forest sprung up under his reign. His parents died when he was twenty. Half of the land of Zhaperon, Isumton, fell into his hands, the other half, Chrision, into the hands of a distant old relative. Preston didn't mind. Being caged by politics after twenty wonderful years of freedom did more upon his soul than a fatal wound kills. He was broken emotionally....then...a beautiful maiden comes along. She rocks his world, steals his heart, and 'counsels' him in ruling Isumton.
On the other hand, Preston's distant relative, Alisa had been brought up by her parents for the very purpose of leading nations. She held her head high and led the people through rain and shine. She had no time for love, rather, she hated the idea of love..so she claimed. To the people, she was a goddess with a heart of steel. Her disciplined childhood of swords and pens definitely paid off, for she was known far and wide for her skills as a warrior as well as a politician....but.... it was all an act. She had learned to hide all feelings since young. She had fallen in love once. She had been broken into the greedy ways of her father, who 'wanted the best for her'. In all, she acquired the hearts of her people through respect of her personality.

These two young people reigned over their lands in peace, though not without occasional problems. However, there were rumors surfacing about the two rulers. Some whispered about the mysterious lover they had supposedly seen leaving the castle. On the other side, word spread by way of mouth that the queen would be leading Isumton to ruins. Both scandals stopped for a moment, however, at the birth of a little prince in Isumton, as well as the official engagement of Alisa to a not-so-young prince of a neighboring land (a land across an ocean/Tearigch). Two years after, whole of Chrision rejoiced and celebrated at the birth of a daughter, an heir.
The two couples enjoyed 65 years of peace. Their lands flourished, one with evergreens, the other with flowers, grass, and baobabs...
Then came the deaths. It hit Isumton first with the cruel death of the king. He was buried deep in the woods, where his heart always wandered. The grass and trees were always greener around his grave, for they were perpetually watered with many tears. Chrision was shocked only three months later, with the peaceful passing of the king. The citizens of Chrision wept as much or even more than those of Isumton, only they took after the queen and mourned in privacy. Cut to the heart, our noble queen clung to life with the last of her power but alas! She finally let go, dying of grief four years later, but she acted all the way to the grave, so no one knew the cause. No one ever knew when the queen of Isumton died. Some hearsay that she still lives. However, these two children, one by the age of 18, the other 20, were forced to the throne.
For one year, the two young people, from whose era we shall tell a tale, ruled as their fathers did, with peace throughout. The pretty little princess took very much after her mother, only she was prettier, with the looks of her father. The handsome young prince ruled with a goal in mind, no doubt ingrained into his head by his infamous mother.

That year came and went, and soon darkness came as a cloud over the land.
In Chrision, merchants would wake up to the loss of their cattle and means of transport, farmers would put what little crops that remained off the plunder of mysterious creatures whose faces they never saw. Many suspected Isumton for these happenings...
When some Isumtanians went to Chrision for a change of scenery and weather, they were treated savagely. One was found hanging by his leg in one of the famous baobabs, another went missing, screaming in the dark, to the complete horror of his companions, for help from death. Thoroughly frightened, they were even more so upon discovering a clump of hair, tied up with a black ribbon, wrapped up in a letter written in red ink. The ink almost unmistakably resembled the color of blood and these poor victims, perceiving the threat, fled back to their land with pale lips and trembling hands.
The king, who, unlike his father, was rather cold-hearted and unforgiving, raged in his mansion upon hearing the news. For though he had the qualities of an icy heart, there was the warmth still left (inherited by his father) for the children of his Isumton, whom he loved as a father does his son. He sent a threatening letter to the unsuspecting teen who naturally appeared as the stern ruling figure her mother made, though taken aback at heart.
The entire event was yet unbeknownst to the fair maiden. And as just as she was, passion drove her for the first time, creating the biggest mistake of her life. Reasoning left her as she wrote a haughty reply.
Thus began the war....the war between the land of Isumton and Chrision. The war between Preston Huil, the Second, and Alice Vasop. The war between the forest and the plains...
