《Heir of Wilberforce》Chapter 47: Ji-daime (1)

After a few seconds of glaring down at each other, the being sighed. "If you were serious when your sister tried to teach you magic you wouldn't have found yourself in this shit."
"Um.. Who are you again?" Armad asked.
The being opened its maw and spat a yellowish, steamy saliva. "I dare you to say that again. You don't even know me? I am your Djinn, JI-DAIME. You can't recognize your Djinn, you don't know what a longevity is and you don't even visit your soul realm. Huh, I bet you don't even know what a soul realm is, how would you compete with actual mages?"
Armad's jaw dropped in surprise. He thought about all the things the being had just said. Obviously, he didn't agree with the Djinn's claim. It was a bold statement to say he didn't know what a longevity was after studying the same thing for a decade. Djjinns weren't visible during enslavement. At most, you would hear whispers, and see your Djinn's ability and element. So that thing might be his Djinn as it claimed. And there was this soul realm.
Armad decided to tread gently, hoping to benefit from the conversation. "Ji-daime? That's your name, right? I just want to point out that most scholars have agreed mages can only see their Djinns after reaching seven hundred years of longevity. I am not there yet, so, how can I see you? I agree I don't know my soul realm and I don't know about longevity, so please educate me. But first, answer my questions. Why are you in chains? Is it normal for Djinns to be in chains? And where is this place?"
Jidaime curled up his bushy brows in an attempt to smile. Djinns wanted to be respected, they believed they were all-knowing and they wanted everyone to believe it. In fact, a Djinn would settle for nothing less. Ji-daime lowered his head to take a closer look at Armad. "Lemme 'ell you then." The odor from the Djinns mouths almost knocked Armad unconscious.

Get a toothbrush, for God sake.
"Every human is born with a soul realm. The soul realm has three things: a Djinn, a scabbard and a magic lamp.
"No matter how inferior and outdated your knowledge is you should know that all abilities, elemental or otherwise, come from us Djinns. You got your lightning from me. Take this as an introduction. You can spend your entire life researching about the relationship between your kind and my kind but you will find nothing new. Somebody like you who hasn't even seen his Djinn has nothing to say." The Djinn actually waited for Armad to challenge it.
"The scabbard is what your kind call the Hidden Scabbard. It's the second component of the soul realm and where you keep all your swords. Fortunately, after losing your sister you were able to awaken your Hidden Scabbard. It gives you a soul sword and the ability to learn sword techniques. I would like to tell you that you know nothing about Swords. Your swing is bad but your stance is even worse." Ji-daime sighed.
"The last component is the magic lamp. It stores both your longevity and spells. What worries me is you know nothing about all the three components of your soul realm. To top it all, you don't even use your Djinn magic. Wait... you know what a Djinn magic is, right?"
Armad gladly shook his head. Although the Djinn was an arrogant asshole, he was giving him an important tutorial.
"I will not talk about my awesomeness, that would be too embarrassing. Listen, you know what an Ifrit is, right? I am a noble Ifrit. Powerful and intelligent, old but strong, small but handsome..."
"Okay, okay, you are an Ifrit but you are definitely not small." Armad couldn't help gauging the Djinn again. Even its little toe was three times his size.

"Hey, idiot, Ifrits are the largest beings in existence. My aunt is sky size. I am pretty smallish."
"Sky size? Is that... "
"Just shut up and listen, kid. Your longevity is negligible and you don't really know how to use your soul sword, besides, burning your willpower. What if I tell you there's a way to make your soul sword more powerful than that Yellow Dance?"
"What's your point?" Armad asked.
"I am tired of you losing, you are disgracing me in front of the other Ifrits. Free me. Remove these shackles and I'll give you everything."
"Everything? You sound pretty desperate."
"Said the man who is about to become a lab rat. Listen, both our lives are at stake, if that bastard takes you, he would kill you first before he comes for me."
"My questions?" Armad asked, referring to his first questions.
"Yeah, I didn't forget. This place is your soul realm, I pulled your soul here to have this conversation. Your body is still with Uznu. As for your second question, I was chained up by your sister Hidaya. Don't ask me why because even I don't know. She came to the spirit realm, sneaked up on me and took me by surprise. Damn her."
"So now you are telling me my sister can pass through the spirit realm and even locked a Djinn up, like that's even possible." Armad raised his eyebrows with an unconvinced smile.
"You don't know? You really don't know? Your sister has a fucking Gift that let her travel through the realms like it was her home. Her Gift is the most deadly weapon against my kind. That's how she locked me up." Jidaime looked as if he was recently betrayed by his girlfriend. He inhaled deeply and shook his head in a resigned manner. "It's your choice: you can set me free and escape from Uznu Urúrú unscathed, or you can leave me here and deal with Uznu alone. I am sure he will take his time with you. Ah.. there's your mom. She can save you when she gets better. I wonder if you can live that long. It's your choice." Jidaime said. It closed its eyes and fell asleep.

Obligate of a Self-Ordained Sorcerer
Come join the Discord! It was a typical late-night friday for Mara, secluded in her apartment in front of a digital expanse, relentlessly mashing code into a keyboard. An introverted workaholic, but this was what she wanted - what she had strived so hard to achieve. So why did she feel so lost? Her life was productive, comfortable, satisfying. Plenty had it worse but she still felt... ungrateful? Stunted? The right word escaped her, but she could feel the general revelation settling upon her. With it came a choice that would set events in motion far beyond the meager scope of a 'New Game+'. So taking an intrusive portal to god-knows-where, Mara will come to find that her new world offers boons and banes with equal abandon. Magic, skills, and unforgiving difficulty. For a frail human shut-in, finding herself stranded in the middle of a sprawling dungeon was one of the least desirable outcomes. Food and water would be the least of her problems, why oh why couldn't she just get summoned by some pervy king to slay a demon army or something? This is a story of magic and adventure with skills and stats galore. A litrpg / isekai epic that I've been inspired to make after years of wonderful works like "So I'm a Spider," "Rimuru the Slime," "Azarinth Healer," "Negima!?," and plethora of other isekai and fantasy novels and animes. Special shout-out to Douglas Adams, a big influence on narative humor that's had a non-insignificant effect on my writing style. I hope you enjoy joining Mara on her journey as I attempt to scratch the itch they left behind.Chapters target 3-6k~ words. Though I'm personally aiming for a chapter every couple weeks, I think I can at least promise one a month with how busy work's been. I made a Patreon due to requests, if you'd like to support me there I'll be using it to fund artwork and RR ads for increased exposure.

Writing is a fun pastime for me, and every once in a while I'm inspired to share what I put down on paper. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
