Chapter 2: Humans meet the 'mighty' Dragon

Okay, day 4 of my new life and leaving aside the copious amount of critter blood staining my claws, this is pretty similar to what I was used to before jumping like a mongrel, I'm smarter now, can I go back? I won’t jump around anymore I swear!

the existential crisis over I'll show ‘myself’ my status as of now:

After I reached level 5 rabbits started giving me only 1 experience point, and there’s no way I will hunt 200 more of those things for a measly level, it has nothing to do with the fact that they’re basically extinct in the area and that I basically destroyed the ecosystem, I swear.

A-anyways, I will now proceed to move further from the starter zone, I will pit myself against the mighty beasts that will appear!

Hmm, there’s 3 yellow dots on my minimap, that should be an intelligent species, I wonder if they can tell me where I can kill monsters to level up a bit or maybe another village so I can try that ‘trading’ thing Mr. System mentioned, although I have nothing on myself to trade for now.

“I’m telling you, Mikey, we shouldn’t have taken that quest to investigate the sudden disappearance of the starter village and the surrounding species of Wabbits, something that completely annihilated everything in its surroundings isn’t something on the level we can deal with!”

“Oh don’t be a chicken Larry, what kind of amazing existence would bother with a crappy village and a bunch of critters worth nothing.”

“Yeah Larry, grow up a pair man, I'm the one supposed to be the girl of the group you wuss!”

“Uh, g-guys? you reckon that yellow dot on the minimap is the thing that caused all this”

“well if it’s yellow it shouldn’t be hostile, maybe it’s another person investigating”

“Why is a dragon here? it’s heading this way slowly, it hasn’t noticed us yet it seems, get away now!”

Some minutes before

The yellow dots look like the human race from my world, they were some cool fellas, their booze tasted pretty good, although I never got what they called ‘drunk’.

they are walking leisurely while approaching the area, I hope they didn’t come to this place to visit their family, that would be pretty sad, with the village being no more and all that.

they are looking this way, oh gosh I'll look down for now lest I scare them with my mighty appearance. I’ll just slowly approach them and smile when I'm close enough, don’t ask how a dragon smiles, I just have to look to the side a little bit and-

where’d they go? they were here just a second ago… man did that portal have something weird mixed in it? ah well, let’s move in the direction they were coming from, that’s probably the way to get near a human settlement.

Walking walking dragon La-la-la, I'm the great dragon La-la-la, fear me cuz’ I'm mighty La-la-la.

hmm? that looks like the camp the humans came from, looks pretty rustic to me, there’s just a bunch of huts and a campfire in the middle, are they nomads or just hobos?

now! ‘Glide’!

“Hey! nice to meet you guys, are you humans?”

Some time before

“You morons! why did you not use ‘Clairvoyance’ to inspect the area before getting near! if what you saw was truly a dragon there’s no way in hell it didn’t see you! if it’s aggressive we’re all dead!”

“We are sorry chief, we didn’t think something like a dragon would show in the starter village” (Mikey)

“Please don’t get mad grandpa, I'm sure everything will be okay!” (Brie)

“Like I will believe in your guys’ judgment, we’re moving the village somewhere else tomorrow, one thing is for sure, dragons are all lazy and like to sleep, it probably will take a few days to get near this area” (Chief).

huh, this isn’t how I imagined it would play out.

oh wow I didn’t think a racial skill would be this good, 4 people passed out, 3 are leaking a yellow liquid and 1 is foaming off the mouth while unconscious, but the other 8 are standing still out of fear, I guess that works?

“Hmm? no no I just wanted to ask for directions, I out leveled the rabbits in the starter area and me gotta farm something else to level up now, I really wanna get Fly- I mean, I really want to chase after the peak of the world!” (Doraig)

“I-is that really so?"

"I-I'm really glad to hear that Sir dragon, you can ask us anything as long as we can answer we’ll do so, you being happy is us being alive” (Chief)

they don’t seem to care about that guy I just disintegrated that much I think, works for me I guess.

Later that day

I'm currently in a foul mood, the reason you ask?

well, first of all, they told me dragons are not permitted in villages! I'm so going to start a strike when I find some fellow brethren, that’s xenophobic! that’s racist!

then to make matters worse I found out that if I want to find some of my fellow brethren I have to go across the ocean! how will I bring forth that strike on my own! dang, it!

Oh, about the next place to farm? yeah, i’ve formulated a route thanks to those villagers, at least for the moment I won't get instantly killed by going somewhere too hard. while I'm speaking to you I'm approaching a place called ‘Undead plains’. They told me there are ‘zombies’ ‘skeletal minions’ and ‘Specters’ in that place. Although Specters are pretty dangerous for current old me it shouldn’t be too bad since they are slow just like all the undead guys, so I should be alright.

speaking of which, turn left! there’s 1 specter in front and 2 to the right, I got here while lost in thought.

for now, I'm going to farm ‘zombies’ and those ‘skeletons’, ah there’s a zombie over there!

Okay no not really, but why would I want rotten zombie meat? oh fine, I'll just keep it in my inventory for now, it’s not like I put the meat inside an actual bag along with everything else, that would be just gross.

yes, I do have an inventory, but for some reason the snowy-deaths (rabbits) didn’t drop their meat inside my inventory, you’d think that actual food is more useful but that’s a trash mob for you huh.

the human I accidentally killed gave me 100 experience points, which seems like a lot, and it might seem like it was worth murdering everyone there, but the reason I didn’t do some wanton slaughter is strictly in case there is some retarded skill that allows one to observe the past, you know? being as low key as possible while you’re weak is survival 101, you know? or so said the villagers, and to be honest, it sounded pretty convincing.

back on the topic of experience points, that zombie gave me 15 points so now I'm at 146/255 before I level up. Now, I know I said I wanted to fly as soon as possible but the villagers gave me a neat idea, which was to save 5 skill points and buy the skill ‘Basic Red Inspect’ which can give me some information on hostile life forms that exist in this world. after it levels up it can evolve into ‘Medium Red Inspect’ and then into ‘Advanced Red Inspect’.

it never gets that strong, it just gives some basic information like the name of the lifeforms and maybe some of the more obvious looking weaknesses, those that are easily identifiable, but for poor old me that can’t go to settlements of intelligent species it’s pretty good, since I can’t fit into a library, or read. Yes, I can read the system messages but I never bothered to learn the different written languages in my previous world, not interested in that kind of stuff, and I don't think the written language is the same for both worlds so it wouldn't have mattered anyways.

and while I was speaking to myself a new challenger has arrived! dun dun dun! oh, that looks like a skeleton, hm? looks pretty bulky, I wonder if it was a big warrior while it was alive or just very fat.
