《Mecha In Cultivation World》06- Announcement
Advertisement
After reaching the boundary of the jungle. He de-summoned his Snipe Suit Back. Took the ring out of his finger and then placed it in his pocket.
Although this ring looked cheap. He still doesn't want to take any chances. For all he knows, If someone stole this mecha suit from him than it would be near impossible for him to collect ten low-level spirit stones to buy another one.
Taking the rabbit meat and an elephant fruit Ambrose quickly moved towards his house. It was already evening time and dinner would be ready at any moment. He increased his pace.
Soon he was just a few steps away from his house when he saw Nelson and his father moving towards the jungle. And many people were following him.
Rowen stopped at his place and waved at Nelson. He also responded with a smile and came near him with a worried expression. "Where were you? I came to your house and your mom said that you have gone out." Nelson said.
Ambrose smiled. "I was in the jungle, to collect some fruits. Anyway, what is going on? Why is everyone running towards the jungle?"
Nelson looked at the bulge on the cloth bag over his shoulder and smiled. "So you got an elephant fruit. You should share some of it with your brother here. And as for the people here. They are all going to the jungle to find some Ice or water affinity herbs." Nelson said.
"The village chief has just announced that he has paid a huge amount of money and had ordered a higher tire beast group this time. He said all of them will be a fire affinity mana beasts. And to resist their fiery mana one needs either water or ice affinity herbs."
"My father and all his friend have formed a group. They will search the jungle tonight. However, you don't worry. My father has promised me that If we get some extra. I can share it with you."
Nelson said with a smile as he placed his hand on Ambrose's shoulder.
A warm smile also formed on Ambrose's face. Nelson was his true friend. "Nelson, I have found a dead Rabbit on the outskirts. You should have some breakfast tomorrow with us."
"Thanks, bro. Now I have to go with my father. You can come too if you want."

Ambrose denied him. "No, you go I have to be at home before dinner time." He has his own plans to get Ice mushrooms. He can't go with them or he will not be able to use his snipe suit.
"Ohh! And I remembered something. The village chief also demands fifteen silver coins from everyone who wants to give test tomorrow. If you need some then I can spare you." Nelson said as he suddenly remembered the village chief's words.
Ambrose heard his words and then clenched his fist in anger.
Nelson saw his complexion and let out a sigh. "Listen man. I know about our condition. However, this is the chance. If we get lucky enough then we can have our life settled. A fire affinity beast is not easy to come."
"And you don't worry about money. Your brother here will pay the rest if you are short on it."
Nelson didn't know about Village Cheif's plan. He only told them about the Fire Beasts because he wanted to extort money out of them. He knew that it would almost be impossible for these low-level villagers to find a suitable Ice Herb for tomorrow's test in one night.
Even Village Cheif himself had to send his daughter out to find one. That old man will also be searching for the herb alongside his daughter.
Ambrose looked at Nelson and then smiled. "You are my best friend dude. I will pay you back one day."
Nelson lightly punched him in the chest. "Don't worry about paying back. Focus on yourself first. Ok, I am going now or my Dad will kill me." He said and then ran away.
A warm smile formed on his face as he looked at his back. He was his true friend. No one else in the village would ever give them money without expecting to get anything back.
'I have to help him in tomorrow's test.' Ambrose decided and then moved towards his house with a determined look on his face.
After entering his house he saw his mom, placing the dishes on the ground. Ambrose can smell the chicken soup aroma from the house door.
Thalia saw him and a worried expression appeared on her face. "Did you hear the village chief's announcement?" She asked him.
Ambrose nodded and then placed the meat and Elephant fruit wrapped in red cloth on the floor.

"Do we have enough money?" He asked.
Although he can get some money from Nelson. It can't be too much. Taking even five more coins from him will put too much toll on Nelson's family.
Thalia nodded. "Yes, I was saving some for your marriage. However, I am not worried about it. How will we get an Ice Herb? You can take my red horned bull if you want and find it tonight."
"I can also come with you. If you want." She was worried about her son. Everyone knew that only by having a beast pet, poor talentless people like them have any chance of surviving in this cruel world.
If Ambrose failed tomorrow's test than it would be very hard on her own. She and her red horned bull will get old one day. Then who will take care of Ambrose if he doesn't have a Mana beast?
Ambrose let out a relieved sigh when he heard her words. He really didn't wanna take money from his friend. Although Nelson's father is at the level seven Body master. Silver coins are not easy to come even for them.
And as for the Ice herb. He will make sure to get it tonight with the help of his Snipe Suit.
"Don't worry mom. Nelson has promised me some Ice Herbs. I will follow them in the jungle tonight after dinner. You just make sure to cook a good rabbit for tomorrow's breakfast. Nelson will come to eat."
Ambrose said and then pointed at the red coloured cloth.
Thalia looked at the cloth and then unwrapped it. Just as she looked inside a surprised expression appeared on her face. There was black coloured meat present in the cloth with the Peach Coloured Fruit.
She looked at ambrose in surprise. "Where did you get this?"
He awkwardly rubbed his hand against his back and sat down in front of the chicken soup. "I just found it dead on the outskirts. When I was searching for the fruits.
I think it died of this fruit falling on it. He pointed at the Elephant Fruit in the cloth.
Thalia looked at the meat again. She had seen Rabbit meat after so many years. It was almost unbelievable to her eyes. After some time a smile broke out on her face.
"Don't worry, I will make sure it will be the best Rabbit Meat you have ever eaten." She said as she stood up with the cloth to place it in the salt to prevent it from rotting.
She also sliced a quarter of Elephant fruit and then gave half of it to Ambrose and started eating the remaining half herself.
Ambrose looked at her not eating the chicken soup and let out a sigh. "Why are you not eating Chicken Soup?" He asked.
"Ohh... I don't need chicken soup. You have to be in perfect condition for tomorrow's test. You need it much more." She said nonchalantly.
Ambrose wanted to argue. However, he knew that she will not listen to him. He gave up even before starting and quietly finished his bowl.
The soup was fragrant and very tasty. Although it was nothing like what he has tasted on earth. However, after the work, he has done today it tasted better than anything he has tasted before.
After finishing his bowl he stood up and then placed the empty bowl in the kitchen after washing it.
"Mom I am leaving for the jungle. I will be back in before the morning." Ambrose said and then moved out of the house.
"Be careful!" Voice of his mom resounded from his back.
At first, he wanted to sneak out of the house when his mom was asleep. However, now as he got the perfect chance. He got out after getting her permission. Moving out of the metallic gate. He sped up toward the jungle.
He didn't want to go with Nelson's team. However, will search on his own. That way he can use his snipe suit and find an Ice Herb Much efficiently.
He can even use his thermal scope to search for the herb or mushrooms much easily. He just has to find an area with negative thermal images.
Reaching the border of the jungle. He first looked around carefully and then equipped his snipe suit on. "Let's find an Ice Mushroom." He said and then jumped on the tree in front of him.
Moving like a shadow he disappeared in the lush leaves of Elephant tress within seconds.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
