《Mecha In Cultivation World》31- Gluttony

Ambrose could feel the intense amount of both heat and Killing Intent behind his back. His face contorted as he moved his head back and looked at the burning ball of fire descending on him.
He gulped his saliva feeling its heat. "This fireball will definitely melt my mecha down!" A panicked expression appeared on his face.
Looking at the tree at his side he quickly ran towards it. And kicked it to get a bounce back in another direction. And he did it with all the force that he could muster in his leg.
Crisp burning sound of a tree with a loud boom resounded in the forest as a small crater appeared at the place Ambrose was just standing.
However, he was nowhere to be seen. There was a pile of rubble and many burning logs. Some stones had even turned into magma.
The Fire Tiger let out a roar and appeared over the crater. It looked down at the rubble with anger. However, his anger slowly calmed down as it looked at the huge crater.
There was no way that the monkey would have survived this. It was the most powerful attack that the tiger has ever done. He had almost exhausted all his blood doing it. And if this attack would have failed then the Fire Tiger would have died.
Another little fireball formed in front of his face and he cast it away on the rubble.
"Yo, kitty you are shooting in the wrong direction." Suddenly a voice came from above a tree and then Ambrose jumped on the exhausted tiger.
The Yellow beast quickly turned away and jumped ahead. He was completely exhausted and huffing for breath. It looked at Ambrose who was standing in front of him with dreadful eyes.
Ambrose although successfully managed to evade the deadly fireball at the final moment due to his amazing agility, however, there were many holes in the Mecha.
He also got a wound on his back shoulder. Blood was continuously flowing out of it.
He jumped at the tiger again and smashed its head with a stone he was holding in his hand. As the tiger has already consumed all of his energy. It had no strength to even move away when Ambrose attacked it.
Its fate was sealed from the moment it missed the fireball which was summoned burning most of his blood.
The Beetle flapped its wings over the dead body of the beast.
Ambrose removed his mecha suit while letting out grunts of pain. His shirt was burned from his back and was soaked in blood.

"Get me the Core," Ambrose said as he removed his shirt and wrapped it around the wound on his back. "Ahh..." His whole body shivered just as the cloth touched his charred skin.
After some time he finally let out a deep breath and looked at the round ball that was rolled out of the body by his Molten Beetle.
"I hope it's worth it." He thought and touched the beast core. It was not big. Even smaller than the beast core he got from the alligator. However, it was very clear. He could see through the core very easily.
"It's soothing." He placed the core in his pant pocket with a slight smile on his face. This core would propel me towards the Martial Master quicker.
"Let's go back, buddy. I don't think we can tame that Blaze Jinx today." Ambrose said as he took his Snipe suit back from the beetle. His Monkey Arms was already stored in the mecha system currently healing.
It would again take twenty-four hours to heal back completely. Till then he has to do with his snipe suit.
However, his luck was not with him today. Before he could even put the ring on his finger. A bright yellow flash appeared in front of him.
"Shit! How can I be so unlucky today?" He gritted his teeth and quickly placed the Snipe Suit around his body.
"Blaze Jinx." He spotted the beast. It was one of the Blaze Jinx that Muscular Zoe has released in the jungle. To select a disciple for Golden Falcon Academy.
His Sniper moved in front of his face. As he widened his legs to attack at any moment. He knew that running was worthless in front of a Blaze Jinx. The creature was known for its speed.
And his mecha Suit could only muster a speed up to Body Master Level Nine. And on the other hand, this Jinx was at least at Martial Master Level two. He was not even sure if his Sniper could do anything against it even at the point black range.
He focused his eyes on the cat-like creature. If he loosed focused even for a single moment. His life could end here today. He still remembered the day when that Golden Salamander almost killed him because he was too weak.
And now he was in the same condition again. Weak and Powerless. All he wanted was a safe and good life for both him and his mom. However, the more power he gets the more he comes face to face to the reality.

Weak people like him were at the mercy of strong ones. No matter how many walls you build to protect yourself. It's just a matter of flicking someone powerful's finger to crush you and your family down completely.
The cat slowly moved towards Ambrose curiously. It looked at Ambrose while turning its head from left to right and right to left. Coming near him. The Jinx started to sniff his legs.
Ambrose suddenly had an Idea of why it was acting this way. He removed his mecha slowly while taking caution so he does not offend the cat.
He then took out the Beast core that he has just got from the Fire-Tiger. And just as he did so the Jinx looked at the beast core in his hand. Her eyes moved with the moment of the beast core.
This was the difference between a wild beast and a controlled beast. If it was a wild beast in its place then it would have already attacked Ambrose to take his core away.
However, on the other hand, these controlled beasts were specially trained to be tamed by a suitable partner. Someone who can take care of them and help them grow.
And feeding it a Beast core of such high quality was one such thing. Someone who can give her such a beast core was a perfect partner for her. Ambrose could help her grow with him.
Ambrose slowly squatted down as his hand reached for its face. He opened his palm in front of it and revealed the crystal clear beast core in his hand.
He was doing everything very slowly and carefully One wrong step and he could either die or the Jinx would run away from him. He removed his mecha to make the Jinx's guard down.
As he knew that having the snipe suit on him would not have made any difference. If he pissed the cat off. He would die no matter what. So it was better to make her let the guard down. So he can maybe tame this controlled beast.
When the core was in front of her. The Jinx moved her eyes towards Ambrose as if she was asking for his approval. Her tail was slowly wiggling.
She was after all a Fire Affinity beast and consuming a fire affinity core of such value would not only increase her power it would also refine the core element in her body. That was the reason why it was so attracted to Ambrose.
"It's for you," Ambrose said and nodded at the beast.
A smile formed on the cat's face as it gulped down the whole core in just one mouthful. It then started circling him happily while wiggling its tail continuously. The cat looked at him again with her eyes shining. She looked like she wanted more.
Ambrose looked at it with a surprised expression. This gluttonous cat just engulfed a beast core of such good quality without even flinching.
Ambrose, on the other hand, had to keep the beast core in his mouth for hours. To absorb the essence slowly. If he gulped down the beast core like her, his stomach would explode with a sudden surge of Mana.
He could tell that the cat was definitely a gold digger and would not be satisfied with just small amounts. He let out a loud sigh and looked at the cat again.
Moments ago this cat was looking like a death reaper from hell and now as he has given her a beast core it was acting all cute. Trying to scoop up more cores from him.
He sighed and then patted its head. "Jinx. I will call you Jinx from now on." He said and stood up. He could tell that the cat has already accepted him as a partner. Just like how he could feel with the molten beetle.
"Let's go, Jinx. We will come back tomorrow. And then I will hunt down some more cores for you." He said and started moving.
However the moment he took the next step. The cat grabbed his pant by her mouth and stopped him. It looked at him again with the begging expression.
Ambrose's head started hurting as he looked at her. She was a glutton indeed. She knew that he still had one more fire affinity beast core left on him.
He sighed and then tossed the core he got from the purple bird at it with a reluctant expression.
And just as he did so he heard a buzzing voice near his shoulder. It was the Molten Beetle. It was looking at him with begging eyes too.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
