《Author Vs Protagonist》Chapter 19: Another Eh?

Division Head Nar was shocked by Zhang Wei reply, but she immediately regained her composure. A calculative person like her, has full control over her emotions and facial expression.
There were very few things that could make her facial expressions crumble, revealing her true thoughts.
Nevertheless, she did not expect that response from Zhang Wei. Never in her life would she expect that Zhang Wei was this shrewd. One thing that she did realize is that, she was now in a disadvantageous position.
She was now caught in Zhang Wei’s pace. As long as Zhang Wei continued to lead her on, she had no power of persuasion whatsoever. She needed to make sure she doesn’t stay in this pitfall.
The reason why she's in a disadvatageous position, is because the second she try to make a serious offer, Zhang Wei could brush it off as a joke and decline without being disrespetful.
*Facepalm*. You actually believe that you idiot? That's the worst reason I heard all day.
“You surely jest Mr Roland. This is our first encounter, and we have barely known each other. My previous statement was a joke, intended to soothe the atmosphere.” As long as Roland clarify that he understood the harmless joke, then she could retake the lead.
“A joke?”, Roland put on a look of clear disappointment that you would typically find on those heroes in romantic comedies. “I finally thought that I had found a soulmate to share my life with … truly a pity. I guess this life is to be wasted after all .
Despite my marvelous self, I can’t even find a lady to hold me down. Oh how hard it is to be so amazing. Dear God, why have you gifted me too much greatness.” Roland said with a tone of regret.

That tone could almost make people think that he was being sarcastic with himself.
The look on Roland’s face as if he was wronged by fate itself almost made Division Head Nar grind her teeth. She could not believe that there existed a person.
…. Shameless. I can hardly believe such shameless individual could actually exist in this world. Division Head Nar found herself unable to cope with Zhang Wei’s behavior.
She could not make up whether Zhang Wei was completely sincere, or he is just a shrewd person.
This is turning into a problem. This boy is completely leaving me with no chance of escape. Damn it! If only I didn’t need all the talent I could get, I would have made you silently disappear.
She steeled her heart and put on a sincere fake smile, as she said sympathetically, “Mr Roland was given such astounding gifts, to become an incredible person in this world. With my capabilities, your gifts would not be wasted and in given time …. you would find yourself a suitable soul mate.”
Zhang Wei was quite surprised to hear her response, and inwardly smiled to himself …. Interesting.
To be able to escape from the pitfall, and give out an amazing offer, while at the same time not downplaying her abilities is really commendable.
How is that commendable? She basically just told you to F*ck off and hope that you could join... Oh! .. On second thought that was not bad.
Any normal person, given her grace and prestige, would immediately accept the generous preposition. However … she was facing Zhang Wei. And Zhang Wei could not accept someone taking advantage of him.
Given how cunning this Division Head Nar is, she would realize that Zhang Wei was suspicious of her actions, being why she could not wait until Zhang Wei entered the Medical Division, before recruiting him as a disciple.

She must have a reason, and she knows that Zhang Wei would try to fish out that information from her.
It seems I need to resort to this method. Zhang Wei looked to Division Head Nar, and said “Something has been bothering me for a while, can Division Head Nar give me a suitable answer?”
Division Head Nar was smiled. She had expected this. Based on her understanding, Zhang Wei will likely try to ask her what she saw in him, that she could not wait to have him as a disciple.
“Why can’t Division Head Nar wait until I formally enter the Medical division, before giving me an offer to be your direct disciple? Why must you rush to immediately give me a generous offer?
Is there a specific reason as to why you have to get me on your side as fast as possible?”
….
Damn! To think he would be so direct about it. Never in Division Head Nar’s life would she imagine that Zhang Wei would directly ask the question, was he not afraid she would eliminate him if he was too curious?
One might not see any difference with Division Head Nar’s expectations and Zhang Wei’s actual question. The main focal point is she had expected that Zhang Wei would ask what she saw in him. If he had asked that, she could say that she values talent, and was impatient to help develop people with such talents.
Zhang Wei made no indication to question what she wanted, but instead directly questioned her ulterior motives. Division Head Nar was in a pickle, as if she proceeded to use her planned answer, then she would look undeniably shady.
Even an idiot would realize that Division Head Nar was hiding some ulterior motive.
This could cause some implications in the future, as psychological warfare is immediately lost if you open yourself to suspicion. Whose to say that in a few years, Zhang Wei would not use this to take advantage of her? She was trap in a bind and needed a way to get out.
As Division Head Nar was in a pinch, Zhang Wei was celebrating in his head.
Kekeke! Foolish little girl, you are 100 years too young to manipulate the amazing me. I will enjoy seeing you struggle to find a suitable excuse for yourself.
Zhang Wei smirking to himself and had the eyes of a beast. In his view, this seemingly cunning Division Head was merely a small rabbit trying to contain a lion. He would make her cry if she tried.
Division Head Nar replied, “To be completely honest, I need you to strengthen my camp to survive the academy power struggle.”
Zhang Wei’s face fell as he repeated what Division Head Nar said before.
“… Eh?”
