《Author Vs Protagonist》Chapter 24: The Families

"Those with Good and lower aptitudes, Get Out?", the students were confused. They came for a lesson, and now they had to leave? This teacher was not making sense to them. One student stood up and asked, "But Mr Murton, we already payed the fee." He was clearly annoyed by what the teacher had said.
Mr Murton snorted and glared at the student. "Do you think I care? Leave now, these students from the Marx Family specifically requested my lesson. So those below Great aptitude, Scram!" He said while pointing at the group of youths.
"Marx Family?", the students frowned. Following that, these students stood up one by one and left the classroom. As they left, the youths from the Marx Family stared at them with smug smiles.
Zhang Wei didn't understand what the Marx Family meant, but seeing the students give up and left one by one, made him awkward to stay there. While he hated wasting any academy points, he didn't want to make enemies that quickly. He stood up and left.
Before he left, he took one more look at this Mr Murton and mentally added him to the 'will visit list'. Che! You think you're tough kicking me out? Just wait until I get my stats back.
He looked at the time, and saw that he had just enough time for another lesson, but he was not in the mood. He decided to just wait for Asyraaf at the place they agreed to.
He walked a while, before reaching the southern compound. Walking that distance might seem long for regular people, but Martial Practitioners have surpassed the human boundary, running through the compounds the size of two small cities, was as easy as walking.
Southern compound was generally the same as the northern compound, only difference being the type of shops that operate there were those related to refining shops. Not to say other types of shops don't exist, it's just that each compound has it's specialty as the majority.

Zhang Wei did some window shopping, before finding the restaurant that Asyraaf mentioned. He went in and started to order. As he was enjoying the food quite a bit, time passed by quickly. Asyraaf arrived not long after.
He saw Zhang Wei eating and greeted, "Sir Roland, sorry for keeping you waiting." He decided to use Zhang Wei's fake name as he knew Zhang Wei was here incognito.
He sat down and ordered his own food. Zhang Wei started to talk, "It's fine. Oh? Why are you wearing that ugly hat?" Zhang Wei commented seeing what Asyraaf was wearing.
"Oh this? It's nothing, I'm sort of well known here, so I have to hide my identity?", Asyraaf answered, before taking it off and setting it down on the table.
"For real?", while Zhang Wei could almost guaratee that this guy was famous for a wrong reason, he decided not to ask. Instead he went straight and asked about the Marx Family.
Asyraaf listened closely and answered, "Oh those fools. Well I can't say they are that they are completely worthless, but they aren't that big of a problem. Have Sir Roland heard of the 20 families?"
Zhang Wei shook his head and Asyraaf continued. "Well, while there are a lot of noble families, not all are equal. Some noble families are small and some are quit large. Take for instance the headmaster, Vincent Cromwell, is a part of the Cromwell Family. Cromwell Family is one of the 10 Great Families. The 10 Great Families are the families of the founders of the city. They date back to thousand's of years."
"Headmaster Vincent's disciple, Aron is also a part of the 10 Great Families, the Alvero Family. Behind the 10 Great Families, are the 10 Branch Families. These families are smaller in power compared to the other 10, but much more powerful than other noble families.", as Asyraaf was explaining, the food he ordered arrived.

He started to eat, but did not stop explaining. "The Marx Family is one of the 10 Banch Families. They are... not really beloved. The only reason they act so smug is the fact that they are backed by the York Family, one of the 10 Great Families. If not for that, they would have been wiped out immediately. They're not exactly known for having a lot of powerful experts."
Zhang Wei heard that and started to ponder. If he picked a fight with a powerful family, would he survive? Zhang Wei has the Overpowered System, while the powerful families have experts that have cultivated for decades.
If for instance, if one day he decided to for unrelated reasons, 'visit' the Marx Family, would he be able to leave unscathed? He couldn't really understand how powerful the top experts were. He found out from Aron that, the Level 4 White Wolf Alpha was an existence that could rival the experts at city hall. However, are those experts, the most powerful ones?
Since thinking about this led him no where, he asked Asyraaf, "How powerful are the 10 Grear Families?" Asyraaf expected this question, so he answered, "Well, each family is powerful in their own right, and specialized in different things. If you're talking about influence, then the Cromwell Family is number one. However, if you're focusing of martial prowess, then the Rosswein Family is definitely the most powerful."
Hearing the words Rosswein, put a bad taste in Zhang Wei's mouth. Che! I had just forgotten about that cliched twat, now this idiot reminded me
"How strong is the head of the Rosswein Family?", Zhang Wei asked again.
Asyraaf looked through his memories before replying, "The Rosswein Family Head is the mayor, and is the most powerful Martial Practitioner in the city. He, if I'm not mistaken, is a Level 9 Martial Practitioner."
Zhang Wei almost choked on his food.
LEVEL 9?!

NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
