《Forsaking Reality》Chapter 50: Healing the Tribe

Akata sat down cross legged and focused on using the nature energy around him with his plant cultivation base. Since his plant cultivation base was so weak, he needed something to help boost it. He focused in on Balii’s body internally and felt the strange energy within it.
“If I am right…” Akata spoke out loud. “... then the strange thing I am feeling within her should be energy of that plant cultivator.”
“You’re able to feel the something in her body?” Great Priest Bambe’s heart filled with joy. By now he had completely forgot about his own body. To hear that something was actually within their bodies was great news in a sense. In fact, the tribe wasn’t even sure if their decline had anything to do with the plant cultivator at all. They could only guess since that was the only weird event that had occurred to them in the years that they have been on this island.
For years they knew that something was wrong but had never been able to sense what is what or how to stop it. But now, Akata had found something within them. You could say that Akata had halfway completed their goal of saving their tribe.
“Do you know how to get rid of that energy then?” Great Priest Bambe asked. His voice became much more respectful now that he heard Akata’s words. He truly didn’t want to offend Akata right now.
“I may have a way to deal with this energy.” Akata in fact did have a way that he thought might work to deal with the energy. “This should be the life energy of that plant cultivator. If I am right then, he didn’t really intend to hurt your tribe at all. This must have been a consequence of using that magic and failing. I guess the backlash of that magic destroyed him and since your tribe was close by it must have infected you all as well.”
Great Priest Bambe’s eyes went wide. The plant cultivator didn’t even mean to hurt their tribe? If what Akata said was true about them getting infected by the consequences of the man’s magic then… how strong was that magic? And how strong was that cultivator? This actually had fear develop in his heart.
He had already had fear linger in his heart from the start. Seeing as how one person’s magic could affect a whole tribe of beasts, even down to the younger generation that had yet to be born. And as strong as the older generation was, they were still put into a deadly bind.
“Well what way do you have to deal with the life energy of this plant cultivator? Will it be dangerous to use? Are there any drawbacks?” Great Priest Bambe was frantic. He was eager to save his tribe and his granddaughter but was still cautious about the consequences of the method that Akata had in mind.

“From what I understand there shouldn’t be any. But I will have to try it out first to be sure. I need full concentration in order to do this, as this will be my first time trying this.” Before he began to work he turned to Great Priest Bambe and spoke slowly. “I will do my best to save your granddaughter.” He turned back and closed his eyes in concentration.
Akata didn’t know why he cared so much about helping this tribe now. Usually he didn’t care about anyone or anything but himself, but now he wanted to help this tribe. He had even completely forgotten about what he was promised after helping the them.
‘Since when did I become so driven to help others? That’s not like me at all. Am I even me anymore? Ugh… I feel so mushy inside, I’ll need to see a doctor back at the sect after this cause I can’t be alright.’ Akata expelled the thought from his mind and fully concentrated on the task at hand.
Great Priest Bambe was extremely grateful towards Akata. Even if Akata didn’t succeed in his efforts of healing his granddaughter Balii, he would still repay Akata for his kindness.
Akata transformed the usually calm nature energy into an aggressive torrent. He flooded the wave of nature energy into Balii’s body and guided it using his plant cultivation base. It didn’t tire him out since he was mainly using nature energy and he was extremely familiar with it.
He used the nature energy to gather all of the foreign life energy within Balii’s body and extract it out. ‘Now where should I put this energy? I can’t just let it roam free around here otherwise it just infect them again.’ Akata thought for a moment before an idea came to his head.
He then rotated his red rune and rushed the life imbued nature energy into his own body. The red rune cleansed the energy and assimilated it into energy that could be absorbed by Akata. ‘Ha so I can absorb this through the use of my red rune. So it doesn’t only absorb blood, but can absorb life energy itself.’ Akata smiled at this and continued on until he was able to cleanse Balii’s body completely of the foreign life energy.
Balii had been unconscious this whole time. The foreign life energy had taken a huge toll on the younger generation. Without the strength to back them up, they would eventually die. Once all the foreign life was expelled from Balii, she looked much more peaceful and calm. Anyone could visibly see that she was getting better.

Akata let out a deep breath and smiled. “That is all of it. She should be fine and no longer infected by the foreign life energy.”
“That’s is good. Very good.” Great Priest Bambe said excitingly and came to the side of Balii. “Then does that mean you can heal the rest of us then?” He asked hopefully.
“Yes, I can heal the rest of your tribe.” Akata said. But then his face turned serious. “I can confidently heal the younger generation of your tribe that wasn’t directly present at the time of the plant cultivator. Other people, such as yourself I’m not so sure. It may take exceptionally more time to heal you.”
During the process of using his nature energy, Akata obviously felt Great Priest Bambe’s body and the foreign life energy within him. The energy within his body was much deeper and rooted into his body since he was present at the time of the magic use. It would take much more effort to heal him and the older generation than the young ones.
Great Priest Bambe understood this and nodded his head. “As long as the younger generation can survive then that is enough to make sure that our tribe lives on. You can worry about us old timers later.” He spoke without hesitation.
“Mn.” Akata nodded as well. “Then to save time I want to do a group healing. Can you gather all of the beasts who weren’t present during the magic attack so that I can heal them all at the same time?”
“A group healing?” Great Priest Bambe was surprised at this. He had thought that just healing his granddaughter had taken a lot out of Akata. He had saw the confused and helpless looks of Akata’s face during the healing session. But who would have thought that those looks were do to Akata trying to figure out how to use the energy for his own use.
“Are you sure you can do a group healing? We would rather you go one by one and be thorough than to do a group healing and mess up.” He wasn’t confident in Akata’s abilities at all.
“Yes, I’m sure I can do a group healing easily. The faster I heal them the better the chances they have of recovering.” Akata said. In his mind he was thinking. ‘My nature sense can spread out to cover this whole cave and then some. I can heal all of the younger generation even without you gathering them up. But I don’t want to show my abilities like that and therefore give you a reason to keep me. But alas I want to get back to training as fast as possible as well, so I can’t just heal them all one by one.’
Great Priest Bambe looked hesitant but after seeing the confidence of Akata, coupled with his own eagerness to heal his tribe, he didn’t wait any longer. He picked up his granddaughter and spoke. “I’ll report back to Lord Tafei and get his permission. Once that is over I’m sure he will agree to have all of the younger generation go through a group healing.” He bowed his head down and exited the room.
As he was walking out he spoke again. “Wait here for further word. I’ll be back soon. Don’t go anywhere, otherwise someone might strike you down and that will spell bad for all of us.” Then he left.
Akata was left alone in the room. Of course he didn’t mind waiting there. He sat cross legged and went into meditation. In his dantion region he could feel that the sprout was slowly becoming more powerful. ‘If I’m able to convert all this life energy into something my Plant Realm can use, then I can definitely step up in the Seed Rank.’
After a bit of time Akata felt a disturbance in the atmosphere. He wasn’t scared though as he slowly opened his eyes. As he did he saw tens of Scarlet Tiger’s come into the room that he was in. They all looked weak and some even had to be carried in by the older generation. They all sat around Akata who was in the center of the room.
Akata looked around at all of the beasts who were in the room and smiled. “I assume you were all told about what is about to happen. I assure you that nothing bad will happen and soon, you all will be healed completely.
You all should be calm and ease your bodies. This process should be soothing and won’t be painful at all. Now let’s get started.” He closed his eyes and as he did, all the tigers followed suit. The place was extremely quiet and nobody moved at all. Soon all of them felt a weird energy enter their bodies.

Lesser Evil
In a perfect world, an alcoholic, hedonistic, mentally abusive individual like Audry Forge would never coincide with his attempts to stop the extinction of life. But there is no perfect world. There is no other person. Only the lesser of evils. Participant of the Royal Road Writathon challenge - 55k words Author's Note: This is story has been the easiest to write in my time of writing. I thoroughly enjoy it! You may not understand the premise in the first few chapters but need not worry buddy, I've been working ahead. Things will start rolling! I hope you enjoy it. Give me feedback and make sure to share it around! Other Info: Normally I wouldn't put any warnings but this story will be going down a pretty dark path (based on irl experiences) fairly early on. There will not be any overtly sexual content this early but some themes are suggestive. There is profanity. There are references to drugs and alcohol. There are dramatic relationships that I'm trying to base off of real life. There is more of a focus on characters. There will be unpleasant scenes in regards to death, while others will be brushed over. There will also be a fair amount of pop culture references too! Give it a try. You might like my form of storytelling!
