《The New Era Project》Chapter 52: Uh. There’s a ghost..right behind you...like right there..

After that short interlude with Yuka, the three are on their way back. At this time, it is rather late, thus less people are seen on the streets. In the city, the nightlife is quite lively, however, as the three walk continue they pass by a quieter area. Less people are wandering around, it seems that this area is one of the more desolate places. This area is known to be much more quiet and around this time it feels rather eerie. The reason is due to the massive construction around here.
Feng Ye recalls, “This area is quite close to the area where Akimichi had fought bravely. Due to all the construction at night it really is rather lonely here. Though, as it is getting late, it will be best to cut through here.”
Wu Ya and Chu Feng nod in agreement. “Right, we should head back as fast as possible before it gets super late.”
As the three wander through the quiet streets with large areas of construction on each side, unknowingly, the street lights slowly dim.
As they continue on route to Aven Towers, Shira suddenly prompts Feng Ye. “The yin energy around here seems to be quite thick. Might want to be cautious.”
Feng Ye after hearing this prompt looks around and surveys the surroundings. He realizes that the street lights and fluorescent lights which had originally lit up the entire area seemed to have dimmed. A chill in the air seemed to exist.
Strangely, the weather was very nice today with no wind. No signs of wind or even a breeze anywhere yet this chill continues to be felt. The chilliness in the air is a rather odd sensation as it continues to increase. This feeling is similar to the cool chill that may be experienced when going downstairs to a cellar.

“Be careful.” Feng Ye quietly reminds Wu Ya and Chu Feng.
Both after hearing this reminder are immediately alert.
“Do you see anything Chu Feng?” Feng Ye inquiries.
“Uh. There’s a ghost..right behind you...like right there..” Chu Feng with a startled expression says while indicating to the area behind Feng Ye.
Helpless Feng Ye inquiries Shira quickly, “Anything I can do to get rid of the guy behind me?”
“Unfortunately not. Right now, although you can manipulate particles, a yin type of existence requires much more insight and comprehension of your spiritual awareness before being able to affect it. You would probably already feel that you can sense its existence simply through spiritual awareness, but unfortunately, cannot interact much less harm it at this time.” Shira replies straightforwardly.
Feng Ye sighs. It seems like we have to depend on Chu Feng. A creepy feeling envelops Feng Ye as he can feel a weird presence bristle against the hairs on his neck.
“I’ll be up to you Chu Feng. Unfortunately, I can’t do anything about it..” Feng Ye bitterly states.
Wu Ya who is nearby is also slightly startled and slightly shuffles away from Feng Ye to distance herself slightly.
A subtle change can be seen by Feng Ye as he takes a look at Chu Feng’s pupils. The Yin Yang design in his eyes seem to rotate slightly.
Suddenly enlightened, Chu Feng mutters. “Yin Yang Shackles!” As his words fall, the yin yang rotates quickly. From Chu Feng’s point of view dark shackles immediately entwines the ghost behind Feng Ye. These shackles immediately trap the ghost and start to tow it towards Chu Feng’s pupil as though it is devouring it.
Feeling a different aura suddenly wrap around the presence behind him, Feng Ye immediately realizes that Chu Feng had made a move.

From Chu Feng’s perspective, the deadpan look on the ghost immediately is startled and begins to roar with anger as it struggles against its dark shackles. The ghost is towed already through Feng Ye and slowly brought closer to Chu Feng.
Concentrating hard, Chu Feng’s brows are tightly knit as some sweat can be seen on his forehead. The roaring of the ghost can be heard also by the nearby Feng Ye and Wu Ya.
The ghost towed emits a shrieking noise as it knows once it reaches Chu Feng’s pupil it is its end.
Finally, the ghost is towed directly in front of Chu Feng. Little by little, the ghost seems to have little parts of it broken into small pieces which integrate themselves into Chu Feng’s Yin Yang eyes. It seems as though the ghost was broken down part by part, bit by bit and had its yin energy slowly devoured until its existence is eliminated.
As the last bit of the ghost gets absorbed, Chu Feng’s pupils stop revolving within his pupils and become stationary. One would notice, however, a very subtle change to the design of his yin yang eyes. It seems that before his yin yang eyes which were barely noticeable unless one specifically focused on them is now much darker and very much noticeable.
Chu Feng’s aura had a change as well. It seemed that his body is a little cooler temperature wise as he is enveloped in yin energy. His aura coupled with the changes to his yin yang eyes make him have a more mysterious vibe.
“You alright?” Wu Ya inquiries.
At this time, Chu Feng is panting and nods.
“I’m alright. Unexpectedly, I could haul and absorb the ghost!” With a pleasantly surprised expression, Chu Feng replies to Wu Ya.
Feng Ye smiles as well. Seems like Chu Feng is slowly able to grasp this ability. Definitely will be great to see his friend reach new heights and the potential of his ability. Perhaps, Chu Feng may be a good powerup for his goal of heading home.
Patting on Chu Feng shoulder, Feng Ye smiles and complements, “ Great job. Let’s head back. Perhaps, we can add a new nickname to you… Ghost Hunter Chu?”
“Ahaha. I really don’t want to bump into these expressionless fellows again. Still gives me goosebumps. Much less one that follows us.” Chu Feng shakes his head.
“We should pick up the pace. Let’s hurry back.” Wu Ya comments as she glances quickly around the surroundings.
The three jog quickly and smoothly arrive back at Aven Towers. As they take the elevator up, Chu Feng and Wu Ya sigh a breath of relief.
“Really! What a long af day… Tiresome.” Chu Feng complains as he leans against the elevator wall.
Feng Ye and Wu Ya nod in agreement.

Author's note: I love the idea of kingdom-building novels and think the genre has a lot to offer, but I don't think many authors do them very well. Here is my attempt. The novel has a strong focus on politics and kingdom building, with occasional action and a bit of humor. Have fun. Cover was made by MrZombie Updates three times a week.
