《God Must Be Lazy He Allowed a Cultivation Anomaly》82. Journey To the West - Prelude II

Chunks of meat dripping in oil are slowly roasted near a bonfire. Even without spices, the crisp and aroma is more than enough to attract a famished cultivator who had just broken through to Foundation Establishment level.
Kle In took a slice hinting the young Elven to take a bite as well. The Elven just came out of the cave and joined him to meet the sunrise. The young Elven introduced himself as Pu Re'y. Last night, when Re'y opened his eyes, even though he was weak, Kle In gave him a spatial ring containing assorted herbs from the rings of the Nascent Soul Experts he killed.
The Book of Useful flora he read did not elaborate the herbs uses, but he was not disappointed as he did not need to instruct Re'y to look into the collections of more than five hundred boxes of sealed herb. Kle In saw him took Samit Peanit Fruit, Saka Ginseng and three other herbs and coupled with the abundant and pure Spiritual Qi, Ray broke through to Foundation.
Kle In was tempted to ask the uses of those herbs seeing that it helped Re'y overcome the same set back he encountered when he breaking through to Mid Qi Condensation due to having all Qi Nodes opened up. Kle In noticed Re'y did not speak much. Aside from his name and expression of gratitude, he had been silent since he woke up. Either he was apprehensive of his appearance or not, he waited until the last steak of meat was consumed.
Kle In pointed towards a nearby tree and after a few seconds, a simplified version of his improved offensive technique based on sword tactics formed at his fingertips and fired.
Zzzk!
A crack was formed on the tree upon impact. Re'y was shocked that no movements were involved to discharge such refined sword slash projection.

"Tell me why I cannot generate sword Qi and we will go our separate ways."
Re'y woke up from his stupor. He seemed to get the idea that Kle In is looking to improve his technique to perfection. He stood up and summoned his sword and took a stance. He slowly lifted his sword and made a vertical slash.
Whsssk!
There was no explosion nor flashy display of the sword slash but the boulder it went to was sliced clean. He lifted his sword again and paused. He admires Kle In's flawless sword execution and admits he may not be able to emulate the same technique but Dao Comprehension is another matter.
"This friend, the accretion of sword heart takes years of practice before it manifests. Even thousands of geniuses would fail to comprehend the true essence of the sword. I do not mind sharing my thoughts and experiences when I stepped into the realm of Dao Sword, but with your limited time, I hope I can repay your kindness in some ways."
Kle In was silent. It was brief but when Re'y lifted the sword the world seem to have stopped and his divine sight saw a diagram manifested around Re'y's unusually large soul then slowly disappeared. That momentary glimmer when the diagram glowed was just breath taking.
He felt the amount of Qi utilized was half of what he displayed earlier but the difference is clear. The boulder was cut clean.
The bigger problem is that the Qi Nodes that were activated during the execution of the strike did not reveal any connections towards the newly formed diagram nor the soul.
Seeing that Kle In was still in disbelief, Re'y repeated the strike the third time, then the fourth, but before he could finish his fifth strike, he was alarmed by the sudden arrival of a horrifying and deadly attack that advanced like an arrow and aiming for his heart.

Re'y quickly made a defensive stance and concentrated all his strength on the body of the sword to block off the incoming attack but his sword imbued with Dao power was pierced like it was a tofu.
Clang!
Half of the broken sword dropped near his foot. Beads of sweat rolled on his face as he gasped for air. The Qi Projection vanished before it could penetrate his body. He looked at Kle In with a ghastly face. Instinct tells him that even if he retreats with his full might, a stroke of that attack will obliterate his entire existence to ashes.
"Are there stronger versions of Sword Qi?"
Kle In summoned a tentacle made of Qi Projection to the 4th degree to stab and test Re'y. The Sword Qi he witnessed just now was far more condensed than his previous encounters. Kle In saw Re'y kneeled with his forehead touching the ground
"This esteemed master, I have only heard legends of Enlightened Dao Heart. This slave can divulge everything about the path of sword."
Kle In could not understand why Re'y needs to answer in an abstruse way but he was relieved to know that encountering a stronger Dao practitioner is very unlikely. He did not want to be injured or killed by surprise. After all, everyone he killed has never imagined that strength such as his existed.
He got the answer he needed and was about time to depart. He retrieved the Isolation Formation together with the Vein Model and lifted off.
According to the information he got from Akwii repository, there is an eighty kilometer wide wetlands that stretches far to the north and curving to the east dividing Bang-et and Minten'az Province. After crossing this border, different colonies of misanthropic Elvens dominate majority of the areas and humans are seen as lesser beings and are mostly treated as slaves.

Gateway
An archaeologist by the name of Søren Quinn wakes up elsewhere after boarding a plane for Iceland. Now he has to come to terms with a significant loss of recent memory and his apparent death and rebirth, provided he can survive the rigors of the Tutorial on Gateway Station and whatever waits for him after the Tutorial. Updates. When I can... sorry. Author's Note. Gateway is a portal/isekai style GameLit novel, but it has two main lead characters and will eventually have a small cast of minor lead characters to support them. There will be small elements of base building / kingdom management added as well over time, but they will not be the focus. Gateway really is a slow burn that takes some time to get going unfortunately, but I hope you find it's worth the wait. Thank you! p.s. Book One is finally done (only needed one more chapter unfortunately...) but I'm off hiatus now and will be starting on Book Two right away!
