《Evolution of the Skeleton who walked alone in a Dungeon》Chapter 0015{Humans}

Now it was finally the time that I went outside.
“Hmmm, this isn’t what I really excepted.”
Maybe it was simply too much to hope that I would see some beautiful scenario after I came, but the only thing I saw here was desert, desert, and even more desert.
Now, the question was, where to go?
In every cardinal direction I turned, I only saw the desert.

“I literally just came out; can’t I have a moment of peace, away from even more conflict?”
[Accepted]
“What? Really? I have freedom now?”
[You have been granted 5 years’ worth of time to make a decision]
“Something nice happened for once.”
Well, I wanted some peace, but it was not like I did not want to fight, for now, I had simply decided to go with the flow, and depending on what kind of place the outside was I would make a further decision
I used sage sense to do a widescale scan to search for living beings.
The closest one I found was around 1000 kilometres north.
“So, North it is.”
I used teleportation to get instantly to my destination.
Using Spatial magic, I could transport in the places I could see with my eyes and the places I had visited before,
It was a giant cave underneath a mountain,
What I found there was a cave, the sign of life was coming from inside it. I really did not want to go inside as it reminded me of the dungeon.
But I still went inside, hoping to find some sort of species I could interact with, It did not need to be a human or any kind of specific species, I was fine as long as it was a race that came from a proper civilization. It should be the same size as me as it would make it easier to communicate It, but unfortunately, it was a dragon.
Not just a dragon but a colossal dragon, the first thought I had was, “How did such a massive creature even enter through that small cave?”

I could not even see it entire body, if it ever came out it would cover the whole mountain with ease
Then I realized that I never actually had any real casual conversation with anyone except the undead guardians I created.
This was my first time talking to someone who was not an enemy. I tried to remain calm.
The dragon was sleeping comfortably,
“Umm, hello, I had some questions and hoped you would answer some of them.”, I spoke optimistically
I started to doubt whether my small voice would even reach the dragon ear’s
Surprisingly, the dragon opened its eyes and raised its massive head.
“Who are you? And how did you get here, undetected?”, It asked with a confused face
“I was just passing by; would you be kind enough to inform me if there are any civilizations nearby?”
“I am a mighty dragon, and I don’t care about any other race or their civilizations.”
“So, you don’t know?”
“I said, I don’t care.”
“Yes, and you don’t know.”
“There is a city 500km north-east from here.”
“Ah, thank you very much, I shall be taking my leave from here then.”
I took off into the direction that it had given me.
“Did I just talk to a human? How strange.”, the dragon mumbled to itself
After some time, the city was finally within my sight. It was surrounded by enormous walls with the palace sitting in the middle of it.
“What a splendid view.”
The ones who made the place were humans, well, my replica was also that of a human so it should not be hard to fit in
Was what I thought. I went down to the roads and started to look around the city.
Suddenly I got attracted by a pleasant smell that I followed.
The smell led me to a place known as a restaurant.
I saw that food was being served in the restaurant. Suddenly I felt hungry.
I realized that the human body required food intake to survive. Even though my body was immortal, I still felt hunger.
I went in and took a seat.
There was a paper in front of me with a bunch of dish names written on it.

“What would you like to have sir?”, the waiter asked
“Anything would be fine.”, I replied, I would often see other monsters feeding, but I had never consumed anything, the skeleton body did not require any food intake
“Then we have a set prepared especially for nobles. Would you like to have it?”, the waiter asked
“Sure,” I replied, I had no I idea what that but who cares? I just wanted to eat something for the first time
The food was served to me. The people were using a tool called “chopstick” to eat their meals.
I simply looked at it and analyzed how it is supposed to be used. It was a complicated process, but I learned it.
I had the first bite. It was the first time I had eaten something, the very first time I had an experience of the sense of taste.
It was a delightful feeling.
I ate the whole meal in just a few seconds. The waiter noticed that and asked.
“Would you like to order again?”
“Sure.”
“And again?”
“Yes.”
“Look at that guy, how much has he eaten until now??”, the people whispered
The people at the establishment began staring at me, maybe it was my handsome face, but I didn’t care.
After eating for a while, I was satisfied
There were still more things to try, so I stood up to leave the restaurant.
“Wait, sir, what about the payment?”, the waiter asked in a hurry seeing the customer leaving without paying
“Payment?”, I did not know what that was
“Money for the food?”, the waiter replied with a puzzled face
“Money? What’s that?” I asked
A guy that called himself the manager came to me and said:
“From the clothes you are wearing, you look like a noble, and yet, you say you don’t have any money?”
I suddenly realized that in this world, nothing comes for free.
Unlike in the dungeon where the strong would simply take the things from the weak, here there were concepts like laws that encaged people
And so, I found myself in the kitchen washing the dishes. I could have simply chosen to disappear from there, but the food was lovely, so I compromised
“So, you came from a foreign country?”, the guy beside me who was also washing the dishes asked
“yes, I came from far away.”, I replied
“With a face like that and such expensive-looking clothes, I thought you would be some rich boy that ran away from home without any money, but you are washing the dish so perfectly that one could think you worked in the kitchen for years.”, the guy laughed
“I was just simply following what you were doing.”, I replied
The manager then came and watched me work.
He looked quite pleased over the work I’ve done.
“Hump, since you look like a brat that ran away from home, I’m letting you go this time.”, the manager said
“Thank you very much sir.”, I replied
The people there were kind, they even gave me some food to eat for the next day.
They advised me to go to a library to learn about this country's cultures, so I searched for the library.
After asking for directions from like 10 people, I had finally found the building called the library.
It was a big building and housed many books. I was able to understand the language relatively quickly. Maybe it was because of [Sage Wisdom], or I was merely smart.
I did not know which books to start from, so I thought I would ask someone.
There was a fellow human sitting nearby.
“Hello there, would you mind...”
I was interrupted in the middle of my question.
“Yes, I know I am beautiful, and yes, I do mind going anywhere with you.”
After saying that, she closed her book and left.
I simply did not understand what had just happened. So, I decided to ask someone else.
I saw another fellow human.
“Umm, I am actually new here and....”
Again, I was interrupted, and the guy simply pointed his finger towards a signboard. It said,
“Maintain Silence”
Yep, I just sat down in a corner and decided to read all the books.

Candor: The Forgotten House
*** Please read note below *** As a 16-year-old mage from a powerful family, Jayce Candor had known from a young age what his future would hold. As the fourth son in his family the possibility of him becoming the heir to the household was very small. But, with his talent as a mage, his potential accomplishments in the military could lead to titles of nobility and political power. However, on what would otherwise be an unremarkable night, everything he had ever known, the only people he ever cared for, and all of the plans for his future were destroyed. House Candor, one of the six great houses that helped build the Eldoran Empire had been erased from history. By imperial decree, all those bearing the name Candor were hunted down and executed as traitors of the Empire. With no home, no family, and only death waiting for him, Jayce decided to escape north to the uncharted Northern Territories to begin a new life. Forced into situations he was never prepared for and trying to cope with his past, Jayce tries to find safety in a place spoken about only in legends. There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here
