《The Tale Of A Slayer》Chapter 44: Destination-Ugras

Far away from the eastern Rudia continent, in the Ars continent. Inside the royal palace of one of the mightiest countries, Tyerst, a girl walked along the corridor.
In the extravagantly decorated corridor, the girl with bright pink hair walked, her footsteps echoing at every step. She wore a gaudy robe, indicating her possible relation to nobility or her high position. As she crossed a guard, he bowed, showing his respect.
Waving at him, she headed towards a set of magnificent doors. They opened as she neared, and the guards standing guard bowed and murmured something. She replied to them cheerfully and entered the room.
“Ah, Shizuka, you’re here?”
A man with blonde hair greeted her as she walked in. He was without a doubt a handsome man, with striking features and sharp golden eyes.
“Eiji kun! You’re back? Did you finish another dungeon too?”
“Nah. This time we were sent to quell the rebellion in one of the villages… Uhm… I don’t know… Some village…”
The girl nodded and headed towards the fireplace. She placed herself in one of the plush chairs and relaxed, warmed by the heat of the fire. Next to her chair, another girl was relaxing in a chair similar to hers.
“Rika chan… How long has it been since we came here?”
The pink haired girl, Shizuka asked the girl, who sat up straight when the question was directed to her.
“How long huh… I don’t even remember…”
“Can we even return?”
Another girl, who was bespectacled spoke up, barely looking up from the book she was reading. Her expression showed how bored she was, and how uninterested she was in the proceedings.
“Mou~ Ishikawa san! Of course we’ll return. We just need to…”
“Need to what?”
Ishikawa finally diverts her attention towards Shizuka, her eyes narrowing.
“That is… Um..”
“As I thought huh”
The bored expression returns to her face as she continues to read, absent mindedly scratching the pages.
“Shizuka. You shouldn’t be so serious you know! We got here somehow, that means we will return…. Eventually. But, why would we want to return? I mean, this world is just amazing!”
Eiji speaks up, rolling a die around in his hand. His expression was one of joy, joy induced by living in Redorias. Redorias was completely different from Earth, and in a good way. The experience of living in such a world was new to him, and he thoroughly planned to enjoy it.
“That said do we need to return?”
Another person, a comparatively shorter girl mutters, her head buried inside a pillow on a bed in the room. At her muffled comment, Shizuka suddenly turns in her chair, facing the girl.
“Mayumi chan! What are you saying?! We need to return right?”
Shizuka looks around, expecting someone to come to her aid. To her surprise, no one responds, and averts their eyes.
“Return..? Return to Japan and return to that boring lives? Shizuka! This world, this world is amazing! Honestly, I have no desire to return whatsoever”

Rika admitted, staring into the burning coals. Eiji lightly nods, agreeing with her. Shizuka sinks back into her chair, dejected. She wanted to return, and expected the others to feel the same way.
“I mean, Shizuka, it’s almost like an RPG! With status and levels and skills! How can you not like it?”
She remains quiet at Mayumi’s argument, thinking about ways to return. She wondered whether Yuuya was in this world too, and worried whether something happened to him. Looking at her being thoughtful, Eiji cuts in, attempting to lighten the mood.
“But to be honest, I’m really jealous of Satoshi…”
“Yeah right… He even got such a cool class. I would’ve loved to get it!”
Mayumi immediately sits up and replies, excited at the new topic. Even Nanami seems interested as she sets down her book and listens to what’s going on.
“Even Ayumi chan got such a cool class…”
Shizuka grumbles unexpectedly, earning a lot of looks from the others. Grinning at his success, Eiji continues his assault.
“Maybe we should go and check out their training? They have a joint practice session right now right?”
“Ou! Sounds good!”
Mayumi immediately responds, accompanied by Rika’s nod. Shizuka pushes herself off from the chair, and the group prepares to set off towards the arena.
“Ou! This place is huge!”
Mayumi comments as she walks in to the kingdom’s arena. Being sent off to train in dungeons frequently, their training was mostly held on site. Mayumi, being a summoner frequented the library along with her trainer, so she had never set foot in to the arena.
A huge dome covered the roof of the coliseum like arena. It was almost a 150 meter wide ceiling. The dome was made of glass, brightening the entire arena with sunlight. There was a huge opening in the corner of the dome. The entrance through which they walked in was almost 30 meters in height, easily taller than them.
A group of soldiers were doing their training session in one corner of the wide grounds, the guard captain shouting out the commands.
In another corner, a lot of people clustered around, cheering on something.
“Hm? What’s going on there?”
Nanami notes, looking at the commotion. As the crowd parts, they get to see what’s happening.
“That musclehead…”
Eiji holds his head with his hands, sighing.
In the middle of the crowd, a boy stood. Taller than most his age, with a well muscled body, he smiled cheerfully at the opponent standing before him. He was covered in sweat, the sleeveless sweatshirt he wore drenched with his salty sweat.
His arms were raised, towards the other man. He was considerably larger than the boy, his hulking figure suggesting an overwhelming strength.
“Come on Darik! Don’t you wanna play with me no more?!”
The boy beckons Darik, jumping from side to side. Excitement covered his face. He relished in fighting.
“B-but hero-sama.. you’re too strong… This one cannot beat you”
The huge man, Darik sighed, his face resigned to his defeat. The difference between a hero and a normal soldier was too much, even for Darik. The boy laughs cheerfully, and walks away from Darik, brushing his dark green hair with his hand, sweat spraying out. He notices the group looking in his direction and his eyes brighten. He waves at them cheerfully.

“Yo! Guys! Surprise to see you guys here!”
“Ah.. Hey Hideki!”
Eiji greets him and the others also wave at him. Hideki jogs towards them, moving his hand in front of him as he did so. His eyes kept moving as if they were reading something. With a final swipe of his hand, Hideki finally reaches them.
“What’s up? What brings you here? Did you want to see my fight?”
He jabs his thumb towards Darik, smiling happily. Sighing, Eiji replies.
“No you musclehead… Seriously, is fighting all you think about?”
“Haha~! Maybe maybe!”
Hideki laughs it off, his cheerful attitude not changing.
“Well, we’re here to see Satoshi and Ayumi anyways. Where are they Hideki kun?”
Mayumi questions him, holding back the desire to hold her nose, due to Hideki reeking of sweat.
“Oh them? There!”
Hideki points up, and they look up.
The clear sky greets them like always, but they keep looking.
“They should be back right about….. now?”
As soon as the words leave Hideki’s mouth, the glass shatters. Amidst the cascade of falling glass, a huge figure could be seen. Almost 12 meters long, with a reptilian body. It tries to flap its wings as it falls down. But due to it being rolled up into a ball, it was futile. Then, a small figure kicks it off, sending it flying. It spreads its wings and glares at the figure with its yellow sclera and black slit like eyes. Two brown horns curved around its head, and its reptile like body was matted with dark red fur in several places. Other places were covered with red scales of a lighter tone, and a long tail whipped out behind it. The wyvern spread its wings and flew around, surveying its opponent.
Its opponent on the other hand was standing on air, the wind curving behind her feet. Her small ponytail moved from side to side due to the updraft. She wore a tight fitting spandex like dress, with two curved knives in her hands.
Noticing the group of people below her, the girl immediately dropped to the ground. Just before impact, the wind curled around and slowed her down. She walked down, as if she were walked on invisible steps. With light steps, she landed on the ground and spread her arms.
“Ayumi chan!”
Shizuka ran up to the girl and hugged her. Ayumi pats her head and then separates from her, directing her attention towards the others.
“Heya. What’s up?”
She greets them in a aloof manner, her head held high. Grinning at her, Eiji replies.
“Man, I can’t enough of your class Ayumi. Elemental blademaster is just too cool!”
Eiji drones on and on about how cool Ayumi’s class is, and Ayumi lightly smiles.
“It’s been a long time”
Rika greets her, and she nods back. Due to her training, she was not allowed to meet her friends, save for Shizuka.
Then, in a massive gust of air, the red wyvern descends. As its bird like claws touch the ground, the body distorts and shrinks. The massive form of the body shrinks into a humanoid form, and the scales begin to rapidly decolorize. The scales slowly fade, replaced by skin. In a swift motion, a cloth swirls around the boy, his dark blue hair flying around. He opens his eyes, which was the same yellow as before. As he blinks, the color changes to a dark blue, and he smiles pleasantly.
“Tada~!”
The boy spreads his arms, closing his eyes as if expecting applause. Chuckling, Hideki claps him on his back, and he stumbles forward.
“Damn, your class is just too awesome, Satoshi”
Eiji grumbles, looking at his childhood friend. Satoshi grins at him, showing off his sparkling white teeth. Eiji smiles back at him, and they both laugh together.
Satoshi’s class is the morpher. It allows him to transform into a specific monster. Gifted by the gods, he got a special blessing along with his class, allowing him to evolve his abilities. Unlike normal morphers, he could choose what monster to turn into, and develop the monster into a higher grade monster, similar to leveling up.
“It truly is exquisite, seeing it firsthand”
Nanami notes, her spectacles sparkling at the sight. Rika nods, her mouth agape. Ayumi ‘humph’s and turns away, pouting.
“Ara, don’t worry Ayumi chan! I still think your class is the best!”
Shizuka tries to cheer Ayumi up, and everyone begins laughing together. Shizuka’s gloomy mood vanishes, being surrounded by her friends.
“Hou~ So you guys finished another dungeon huh? How many does that make it now? Damn, you guys are leveling up rapidly”
Ayumi comments as she listens to the stories of her friends. They were lounging around in the break corner, sipping on some tea. They began chatting about their experiences during the time they were separated, exchanging stories.
“But, we get a group mission this time right?”
Rika added, a smile playing on her lips. Even if they enjoyed being in a different world, being with friends was truly better than being alone.
“Hou~ That’s right. Some event right? The cap told me about it. Seems like we’re setting off tomorrow.”
Hideki replies, his eyes wandering over the arena.
“An event? Where’s it?”
Mayumi questions them, puzzled. Since she was mostly in the library, she could never obtain news.
“Um… Some place called Ugras I think? I heard they’re bringing us in disguises!”
“Oo! That’s cool!”
They continued chatting through the night, making jokes and such, bonding amongst friends again, feeling happy.

Quebracho: The Legend of Two Heroes
After a violent and tough battle, you recover in an infirmary with your fellow soldiers, or in a more relatable scenario, visit your friend's house after a hard day of studying. You’d expect that both of them would play out normally for the most part, right? Well... Maxon Cortez and Jason McGuire had the same thoughts too. Yet, fate has different plans for them: Max ends up in an eerie location he doesn’t recognize and Jace gets transported to an entirely different world that works like a video game (sort of) by walking into a portal. As they travel along the lands, the two of them will encounter other individuals of many kinds, make friends new and old, gain powerful abilities, experience spectacular adventures, and obtain priceless treasures. However, Maxon and Jason will unknowingly become integral parts of a nefarious conspiracy that, if successful, will plunge both of their worlds into eternal chaos and darkness. So it’s up to them and their allies to thwart it. Side-Note: I’ll admit right off the bat that this story will be my first attempt at writing a LitRPG, so the in-game mechanics and terminology will probably look weird and be even nonsensical. If you notice something that’s out-of-place or just flat out wrong, I apologize. Not only that, it's been a while since I've wrote anything and thus I'm a little bit rusty. So please bear with me. New chapters once every Saturday or Sunday. Also, I'll be fine-tuning the grammar, punctuation, and spelling when I have the time. So expect a lot of random edits. I have decided to put Shizuka on hiatus due to some RL issues but my story on ScribbleHub will continue since I'm co-writing it with a friend which is easier. Please do check it out on ScribbleHub. Series name is Walking in Shadows. Four Heroes were summoned from earth to combat an evil threat in Evarenan but there was a fifth person, Hirano Shizuka. She was never meant to be summoned. It was purely coincidental and unintentional. The God who acted as the intermediatery for the summon, has shunned her. Fated to live a harsh life in a foreign world. Abaddon, a Goddess, the Empress of Night, took pity upon Shizuka. Fascinated by the strength of her will and soul, and fond of her humble and accepting character, the Goddess offered Shizuka to be her Champion which Shizuka accepted. A month passed after the arrival of the Heroes and a plus one at Evarenan, the real trials and nightmares of this world had only just begun for our offworlders, especially Shizuka. AN: Shizuka is the sequel to Overture of an Odyssey, which takes place after the events of the latter.
