Dear self,
Business has been slow since the incident, when it comes to new customers that is. I’ve already handled three people who had been serviced by the Quislings. Erhin was one of them, and he was overly apologetic about not noticing that I had been replaced when he brought his old shovel in for maintenance. He was wringing his hands guiltily the entire time waiting for me to apply the guild seal and refused the refund I offered him.
The other two weren’t half as understanding. The first was mostly just annoyed that he had to have his item inspected at all, but I understand that his departure was delayed and he had his schedule disrupted on his way through. The second was an, unfortunately, local woman I was unfamiliar with who demanded compensation for the so called indignity she suffered in carrying around a subpar item. The earrings were completely safe and functional and only lacked the official seal so I eventually managed to boot her out of the shop with just the sealed earings and the refund required by guild policy. She was so abrasive the entire time I nearly considered tampering with the youth glamour on the things.
Anora had left a few days ago and Mother isn’t even due back into the realm for at least another week, so I’m alone with the pixies for now. It’s mostly time for me to plan the workings I want to place on this journal in the future and how I will explain the loss of a dozen artefacts in profit and the general funds the Quislings stole when she gets back. I‘ll need to phrase it gently, for my own sake.

My personnel funds are quite lacking since the incident. The majority of the stolen Glit were mine. They and a few loose coins we keep on hand for the shop were the only ones the imps could get to with how much warding goes into our locked boxes and rooms. I had to improvise ingredients for the glamoured ink I use for this journal as I couldn't go out and buy any. I think my next batch will have to manage without as much blitterleaf dust at least for the next while. And I need to find a way to get a few glum of mournjoy from somewhere.
Hope we fare well.
Regards,
Me.

Necromancer's Knight: a Light in Death
It was dark, pitch black. Where am I? Where was I last? I died. Am I still dead? A light so dim, yet so blindingly bright to me appeared in a vertical line. The line grew wider and wider, all until the stone slab above my coffin was completely removed. I removed it, I lifted it, without even willing it. And my body continued to move until it was outside of the crypt. It was night, but there was a full moon. And a little girl in front of me. She clutched a black book to her chest as if it were the last thing she had left in this world. I've heard stories of this, I imagined the possibility, but I never thought it would happen to me. Tears streaked down her cheeks. She choked the words out. "Please, save my papa!"
