28th Light beneath the tenth Moon
3761 Cycles beyond the Dark
722 Years after the Repentance
Entry: 1/016
Dear self,
That mental compulsion came up again this morning. The charmed twine I was using somehow dissolved in a puddle of an unmentionable solution mixed from Dreaming knows what. I found myself awoken by the too bright morning next to a few emptied bottles of absinthe, apparently having celebrated the coming month end during my slumber with the Darcinderaht. It seemed jolly enough that I suspect it participated in merry making of its own. It seemed that way at least when I woke up cuddling with it and having my skin be scalded over my arms and cheeks.
The headache lasted the entire day. I have no idea how my body could have subsumed so many volumes of absinthe without going a little more than colour blind, but I do not think I can look at another drop of the stuff without getting nauseous.
My drunken delirium somehow ended up with making a decent cleansing compound for the Darcinderaht using charcoal of some powdered sort. I think I remember some mention of pure charcoal being absorbent, so it must have absorbed the unwanted aspects from the critter into itself. Erhin tells me I wandered into town asking him how to properly make charcoal and spending some three hours making a fistful of it with him. I think I believe those people now who say that magic forms more easily when one is inebriated. I have no idea how I made that potion, I think Axl might have helped somewhere.
News is that the Darcinderaht is no longer worsening, and is in fact stable enough to likely recover in a month or so. Axl said the Rangers Guild are sending someone to collect the critter next week. I think the owl has left town now that his business is over. He might have traded farewells with me at some point.

I really hope no one came looking for service in the shop today, I certainly wouldn’t know at this point.
The sprites have settled again somewhat. It doesn’t mean much, they are capricious as the moon people say, but the moon isn’t a half as changing as fairies truth be told. A troupe of them was dancing around my head throughout the day, at least whenever I was outside. They might have tried something to trick my eyes but whatever it was would either be beyond my currently addled mind or incidentally invisible to my colourless sight. When it comes to glamours my vision is both useful in distinguishing them and annoying when creating them. I’ve been told my creations have a very light and dark style which makes it apparent who they came from, and apart from making proper illusions I don’t really mind. I can just use a little trick with essence if I ever need to correct a glamour in its colouring for other people.
Writing this, I am increasingly satisfied with those Amnestics I wove into the journal, I wouldn’t have been able to write this otherwise and I certainly can’t read it at the moment!
Hope we fare well.
Regards,
Me.
