722 Years after the Repentance

Dear self,
I had another weird dream with Rahph in it. I’m no mystic, but dreams are usually not this easy to remember. I was in that same clearing where the tall grass was blackened by fire all the way to the trunks of the brush-like trees. I was sitting in the bathing rock Rahph had used last time while he was rummaging through the ground and making a hole apparently for a nest.
He dug holes everywhere. There were these mounds of packed dirt that he would claw into and then he’d become covered in an unending stream of ants. They swarmed to his eyes but they flashed brightly and the ants burned away from the sensitive organs.
The strangest part was the sun. There were no clouds and the day was warmer than I have ever experienced in the waking world, but the sun seemed so close. When I reached out to it my fingers passed behind the sun and it was just a glowing ball next to my head. It chirped when I squeezed it curiously. Rahph then turned his snake eyes to stare at me, and then opened his mouth and sang like a bird.
Tori was running through the house again chirping loudly and obnoxiously. He sat still this time instead of making us chase him around and obediently swallowed a spoon of salt we figured would work. Spelled of course. He got his voice back and began an eager stream of words talking about his bird voice, pointing out the obvious, and telling us that he was glad it didn’t actually last forever after he got bored of it somewhere around last night. Repeatedly.
Mum finished her enchanted hat. It worked pretty well. It swallowed any excessive hair when you out it on without any fuss but did let a good bun stick out so you wouldn’t look bald. It certainly works better than a hair net. It’s sitting on our shelf waiting for its owner now.

For some reason I could recall a lot of the random details of Mum’s lecture on wondrous items from yesterday and kept getting ideas for how to utilize them for my own wondrous item. It took the rift foil I had made from the silver leaves into town and asked missus Quaen to help me sew the leaves of material into a cloak. Mum had reinforced her ethereal needle from last time so that it wouldn’t have as many problems working on magical objects or materials. It took a good two hours, which amazes me looking back with how Quaen worked that needle like lightning all the while chatting and letting her thoughts wander on aimless stories she has heard.
Since the rift foil is appropriate for displacement effects I thought I’d make an evasion cloak that would displace your figure and presence to confuse observers as to your actual location. It might get tricky because this isn’t a conventional use of displacement effects and the relationship between the displaced image and the true position should be highly dynamic at the least. I might also have to displace the wearer’s senses of themself so that they can act more appropriately to the position their illusion is moved to.
It will actually need to be addressed more creatively than mechanically, as how I end up doing the displacement effect isn’t crucial to the basic result but will affect a lot of the nuance of its use. It’s perfect for a wondrous item because the workings will have to be highly involved and intricate and will even benefit from any increased complexity. Obfuscation is one of the things that will never see intricacies as detrimental.
Hope we fare well.
Regards,
Me.
