Back at the village…

‘’They are coming…’’

Kai muttered as he took his weapon out from the storage ring.

‘’Everyone, prepare yourself!’’

Dasti shouted as he looked around checking up on everyone.

Is everything good enough? Have I laid down enough traps? How long is our mana shield going to hold?

Questions after questions keep popping up in Kai’s head as he looked toward the plain.

Luckily the elemental traps are working as they should be, as for the mana traps, they are way too easy to detect… But it should be good enough to buy us sometime….

Kai said it to himself as he was lost in his own thoughts

‘’Kai?’’

Eri spoke quietly but it was loud enough to get Kai out of his own world.

‘’Y-Yes?’’

‘’Aren’t you scared?’’

Eri asked with an empty looking face while facing toward the warzone.

‘’Scared?... Uhm, I guess I am?’’

‘’You are always so calm..’’

Eri said it with a bitter smile then quickly continue before Kai could even reacted to her words.

‘’By the way, what happened that day? The day that you got kidnapped by the Wyvern? You never told me anything afterward…’’

‘’I-I don’t remember much you know? I was out of it myself too?-‘’

‘’Liar..’’

Eri quietly replied as she looked down with puffed cheek

‘’I’’

‘’It’s fine, everyone have their own secrets, I know that, even I do…b-but I just wish to know more about you, we are partner aren’t we?..’’

‘’O-of course!’’

Kai quickly replied as he saw Eri’s puppy eyes.

It was super effective! Or so I would’ve said, but this is no time to joke around… I really should tell mum and Eri about the truth, shouldn’t I? Even if they end up hating me for it… They deserve to know the truth.

But for now, I should focus on protecting our tribe I must not fail…No matter what.

‘’When this is over… I will tell you everything.’’

‘’Promise?’’

Eri asked with her pinky finger up in front waiting for Kai’s respond

‘’Uhm, I promise.’’

Kai replied with a smile then crossed his pinky with Eri’s

‘’Oi Oi you two love birds, we are at war ya know?’’

After hearing Dasti’s words the two quickly released their fingers and looked away with a flushed face.

‘’Tch, youth these days.’’

Dasti replied with a chuckle.

Eliz who saw the screen gave Eri a gentle smile as their eyes meet, then slowly turned toward the plain, she was astounded by the work of her son, but what is more confusing was the elemental traps, at first she was surprised since those can only be made with top tier materials not to mention that one have to be a master alchemist in order to make them, of course they can be found in high level dungeons but removing and detecting them would take quite a lot of time and effort.

Eliz was spaced out for some time but was woken up by the sound of the enemies approaching, how careless of me, Eliz told herself as she put on a serious looking face, gazing down at the enemies who is now almost in their firing range.

‘’Everyone fires up your arrows!’’

Eliz shouted out loud.

Noticing Eliz’s signal everyone Immediately took out their arrows which are made from wood, now these will not be as effective as the one with the head made out of metal, but the arrows are not made to kill but to set the field on fire.

The high grass itself is flammable during the end of summer, but that alone won’t be fast enough to set the whole field in flame, that is why Eliz decided to put some white oil on them, white oil is a special oil that the tribe use to make fire with, it’s super rare to find but also very effective, one drop of pure white oil is enough to make a big explosion in 5 meters radius, that is why the tribe mixed it with water to lower the effectiveness but also increasing the quantity.

‘’FIRE!!!’’

And so, they did, mercilessly upon their enemies, as the fire spread so did many of them flee to the main road which are filled with traps, this should be enough to take down a third of their number Kai told himself as he looked at the situation.

But something is off, the head of the party is still moving onward at a steady pace.

At this rate they will be passing the barrier soon, it seems like that they already found out that there is a barrier since they have stop attempting to use range attacks against us, but at this rate the barrier will be useless…

Kai turned toward Eliz in order to inform her, but it seems like that she was prepare even for the worse to come.

‘’Everyone! They will be passing our barrier soon, prepare yourself!!’’

At this point the enemies are about thirty meters away from the wall, everyone inside the village are prepare, their face shows no fear nor hesitation, they only have one goal in their mind, to destroy the enemies and protect their home.

Now then, let’s get this over with!

Kai told himself as he prepares himself to jump out to the field at any moment to come.

Eliz couldn’t help but to look her son worriedly, never in a life time would a mother send her own son into a battle field, but things are different here, out here it’s either eat or be eaten, since they have no protection or connections to other tribes, even if that was the case no one else would be able to help them in this situation, they only have themselves that is how it is and that is how it has always been

‘’Stay safe my son…’’

Eliz mumbled quietly since she knew that nothing good will come if she shows her soft side to her son in this kind of situation.

‘’Everyone! CHARGE!!!!’’

Dasti shouted out with all his might as the first group passed the barrier.

‘’MAY KARAK BE WITH YOU!’’

Everyone shouted out loud as they charged toward the battle field leaving Eliz and the rest of the women and children’s behind this will be their last defense if things go wrong.

The enemies pushed forwards with arrows and long range spells but of course the tribe is already well prepared for them, all of them had armor and shield made out of bones and harden wood, enhanced with lesser magic resistance, thanks to Eri and Eliz but it seems like that the enemies are no fools either, as they saw how their destruction spells was easily blocked by the shield of the Lionel, they immediately changed their tactic and used earth spells to hinder them instead.

‘’Damn it! At this rate we won’t be able to defense!’’

‘’Leave it to me!’’

Kai quickly replied as he saw the frontline was struggling against the vines coming up from the ground.

‘’Cold blood, Greater Agility, Giant’s Strength, Perception, Light Steps, Hawk's Eye, Iron Skin’’

And finally, Kai used stealth as dashed toward the enemies’ frontline, the bunch was confused as they saw a single man running toward them without any heavy equipment’s, but their leader, a lizardman seemed to have noticed what Kai was trying to do, he immediately shouted out to the backlines as Kai disappeared from their sight, but it was nowhere quick enough to stop Kai’s ‘’Divine Steps’’.

One after another was fallen in front of their comrade’s eyes, yet they couldn’t even react, even if they could, all of them had nowhere to run, behind their back was a wall of fire, the main road is filled with traps, the chance of them getting out of here alive was zero.

‘’AGH!!’’

That should be the last mage, as for the archers they have already lost their fighting spirit and their arrows will be easily blocked by our shield anyway, there is no need to kill them.

Kai told himself as he looked down on one of the archers who had fallen on the ground.

After seeing over twenty of his comrades that just got killed in less than five second by an unseen force the archer couldn’t help but to cry out, yet he couldn’t, he tried to crawl away but his legs and hands won’t move, after all, at this very moment, that unseen force is right in front of him, a taboo child with what is supposed to be white hair is now being dyed red by the blood of his friends, on his hand he held a small dagger that is made out of bones.

A dagger!? A FRIGGING DAGGER!? Are you kidding me!? All this was caused by a child and his toy dagger!?

The archer told himself as he looked at Kai with wide open bloodshot eyes, little by little the despair inside of him grew in the end he couldn’t help but peed himself and fainted as Kai turned his gaze upon him.

How weird… this is my first time killing my own kind, yet I feels nothing, this must be the effect of ‘’Cold blood’’ right now my mind is calm, in fact way too calm, I have no questions in my mind… No questions, only one goal!

Kai told himself as he continued his killing spree, but it was soon stopped by a sharp spear that is made from sturdy white bones just like his dagger, by the look of it, it must have been a boss weapon as well.

Kai immediately back off as he could feel a huge amount of killing intent toward him from the owner of the spear, it was enough to send a chill down his spine even with ‘’Cold Blood’’ still in effect.

‘’T-thanks Tet-san!’’

The terrified E rank thanked Tet as he noticed how close he was to meet Death himself.

‘’No need, now get away from here tell the Eric and the rest to protect the frontline as I deal with this…’’
