《Sirius: Evolution of A Star》Chapter 0003- Let Nature Take Its Course

“So, what was the initial step?”
[Cooling Down The Planet]
“Oh, OK, and how do I do that?”
[Use Your Skill
[Start By Understanding How The Skill Works]
[Try Absorbing Some Heat From Your Environment]
The planet was boiling—the temperature extreme. An average individual would not have even able to survive.
Being a spirit, he could not feel the heat. He remained unaffected.
“OK, heat, get absorbed!!!!” Sirius Yelled
[What Are You Trying To Do?]
“Trying to use my skill,” he answered in a simple-minded manner.
[That’s Not How It Works]
[Thermodynamics’ Means The Relation Of Heat With Other Forms Of Energy]
[You Cannot Feel Heat, But Pure Energy makes Up your Entire Body]
[Similarly, Try To Absorb The Surrounding Energy]
“Oh, I see,” As the system suggested, he sought to absorb the surrounding energy. His body shone, emitting white light.
He noticed his body shining. “damn, I look cool.”
[That’s Not Something To Be Proud About]
[Someone Of The Heat You Are Absorbing Is Being Lost In The Form Of Light]
“At least I look cool,” He replied in a dazzling tone.
[Next Is To Absorb Heat From An Object]
[There Is Lava Flowing In Front Of You]
[Take A Dip In There]
In front was a cliff-like structure from which a river of lava was leaking. While floating in the air, Sirius got close to it.
“Humm, but I cannot swim.”
[You can literally fly]
“OH, yes, yes.”
In the river, he took a dip. He did not feel much different from when he was in the air.
“Why do I not feel anything?”
[You are a ball of energy that passes through everything]
[Only after you get a physical body you will able to differentiate between liquid, solid, and gas]
“I see.”
After dipping inside the lava, he absorbed the heat.
His body shone immensely.
Even from outside the river, they could see his shine.
The lava slowed down and gradually shifted its color from scorching red to black.
[Would you like to convert the energy gained into Skill Points?]
“Eh! I can do that.”
[Yes]
[But you can only do this freely because you are level 0]
[Conditions would be added once you reach level 1]

“OK, do it then.”
[1 Skill Point Obtained]
Finding this peculiar, he asked, “Merely one point. That was like a river of lava.”
[Yes]
[That is why I do not recommend gaining points this way]
Sigh, “whatever, what’s the next step?”
[Would you like to focus on your evolution first or the stabilization of the planet?]
Given two choices, he speculated about it. He was already happy with the body he had, but if he evolved early, then there was a chance it would be smoother to stabilize the planet.
Rather than overthinking, he just asked, “Which do you think would be better?”
[I recommended stabilization of the planet]
“Oh, and why not evolving, being high level, would that not be more convenient?”
[No]
[The reason everything looks simple right now is that you are level 0]
[Once you become high level, you will face severe challenges]
[If the first life that flourishes on this planet is when you are level 0, then the latter species would be easier to deal with]
[But if it happens when your level is high, even demons or monsters could be born]
[Rather than stabilizing the planet, the entire planet will turn into a battlefield]
“..”
“Wasn’t that like crucial information that you should have informed me about even without me asking?” he asked in a solemn tone.
[But I informed you]
“Yeah, but that was after I asked,”
[Does that make a difference?]
After a moment, he asked again, “Is there anything important I should know about?”
[No]
“Are you sure?” he asked with a skeptical tone.
[Yes]
“OK then, I will focus on the stability of the planet.”
[Analyzing Procedures for Stability]
[Steps Found]
“So, what should I do?”
[Let Nature Take Its Course]
Confused, he asked, “So, nothing at all?”
[No]
[The natural process will take too much time]
[Having control over the temperature will allow you to boost up the process]
[Head to the center of the planet and follow my instructions]
Since his body could pass through anything, he headed towards the center of the planet.
[Enter hibernation now]
“What?” he exclaimed in a surprised tone.
[The process that should take billions of years is now going to be done within 500 years]

[In the 500 years, you will enter hibernation while I will manage the energy distribution with the help of your body]
Cheerfully, he said, “Wow, so I need not do anything at all.”
[Yes]
[Think of it as your advantage of being level zero]
“Nice nice, I will gladly sleep for the next 500 years,” he replied in a delightful tone.
[Hibernation State started]
His two pupils disappeared as he now entered his slumber.
The energy absorption and distribution started.
During this time, the planet was so hot it started melting. Heavier material sank to the bottom while lighter rose to the top.
This transformation created the planet’s layered core and mantle crust along with the atmosphere and magnetic field.
The planet cooled down. Water vapor was condensed to form oceans.
Photosynthetic organisms appeared and began enriching the atmosphere with oxygen.
Single-celled organisms consumed the sun’s energy as a waste product; these cyanobacteria eventually filled the oceans and atmospheres with oxygen.
The planet now had an oxygenated atmosphere for new life to flourish, but it was not cyanobacteria.
Oxygen was toxic to them. Much life on the planet died in an oxygen catastrophe.
Resistant life forms survived and thrived, and some developed the ability to use oxygen to increase their metabolism and get more energy from the same food.
Methane was more abundant in the atmosphere. It was best at trapping heat in the atmosphere.
When oxygen is combined with methane, it produces carbon dioxide. Suddenly, the greenhouse was not as strong as a result. The entire planet froze.
Oxygen filled the atmosphere ozone layer thickened.
Water shielded harmful radiation; that’s where life existed.
Eventually, a thicker ozone layer enabled life.
[It’s time to wake up]
“Whh.. a. t? let me sleep..” he responded in a sluggish tone.
[Wake Up]
[Wake Up]
[Wake Up]
“What, just a few mins more,”
[Wake Up]
“Damn it, OK, OK, I am awake now.”
“So, life species been produced yet?” he asked in a sleepy tone.
[Yes]
From sleepy to pleasant tone, he quickly reacted, “Finally!!”
[But an unforeseen problem occurred]
“Problem?” he replied while his tone shifted from pleasant to being worried.
[During the process, your lack of control over your skill caused some magic and some radiation to leak]
“My lack of control? I wasn’t even awake. Weren’t you in charge throughout the process? So, it’s all your fault,” he answered in an annoyed manner.
“Anyway, what exactly is the problem?” he inquired after calming down.
[The radiation caused some species to mutate]
[It disturbed the natural order of evolution]
[The food chain collapsed]
[If it had continued, the species would have destroyed the planet, so I took some measures]
“Measures, what measures?”
[To kill off the most problematic species and restore the food chain, I multiplied the amount of magic leak]
[The rapid increase caused most of the species to go extinct]
[But some resisted]
[They adapted and survived]
[Now, along with their mutated natural abilities, they can also use some magic]
After pondering for a while, he asked, “Don’t tell me the species that survived are humans?”
[Negative]
[It’s too early for the humans to exist]
Sirius had previously witnessed many creations of planets and the evolution of species within them. So, he had insights into how evolution worked.
“if it’s still too early for the humans to exist, so mammals are still not the rulers of the land.”, he replied in an analytic tone.
[Affermative]
“it’s more likely most of the radiated species would be sea-born, wait survived, don’t tell me..” that’s when he realized, “Amphibians, wait, dinosaurs, some of them survived, didn’t they?”
[Yes]
[They have also mutated into something terrifying]
[However, they are not the only ones that survived]
[Even some other light species have survived]
[I stabilized The food chain]
[The surviving species marked their territories]
[The planet stabilized]
[To ensure your evolution would be possible, I saved some species to help you]
“I see.”
“But you said I was level 0. Complications should not have occurred.”
[I said the difficulties would be less than when you are at a high level]
[Even when you are level Zero, the species mutated]
[There is no telling what would have transpired if you were even high]
“Oh, I see, now let’s go see how the stabilized planet is.”, he announced excitedly.

Living In The System - A LitRPG with more story, less text boxes
In the ancient echoes upon it’s great boughs, Yggdrasil holds all the knowledge in existence. Indeed, all of creation swings from its immense branches and leaves. The howls that creep through its cavernous spaces were not caused by the wind. No wind could be powerful enough to shake The Tree, yet it rocked. A great battle raged in its dew drops and amongst its roots. A War for control. For knowledge is power, and power is everything. A furtive glance over her shoulder told the hurried goddess that she was not being followed. That was good. What she had just done would be a great risk. Placing a new thread on a world so soon to be destroyed was costly. She would be greatly diminished, but her work was not done yet. In the myriad of infinite worlds, there lies Genia. A starter world, of very little importance. It is where she will find her champion. Killian never got the chance to see the world. Yet he is given opportunity. Opportunity not just to see the world, but to change it... to change all of creation. There are many stories to tell upon the Tree of Yggdrasil, where all of creation hangs from its branches. The power of destiny fuels all, but destiny is fickle. He can only pray that things will go well. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
