《The King is Back》Chapter 30 - Torture

After what seemed to be only a few seconds, Braum's consciousness started to turn on again. His mind was still very hazy and his vision blurred. With his heavy eyes, he looked down to see his legs tied to a chair and his hands also tied together behind him. It took another minute for his eyes to finally adjust to the surroundings. He noticed that he was in his dark uniform underneath his usual hooded exoskeleton armor. What greeted him was a dark, cold, and damp room with only one light source—a lightbulb.
'a lightbulb?' Braum said in his mind. He realized that it was odd to see something like a lightbulb that exhibits no magical power in this lands. This implied that the source of power must be from something like electricity which simply hasn't been invented yet in this kingdom.
Suddenly, the hand he saw going through his chest before he went unconscious was there again in the same spot as before. Braum started to scream in fright. He did not know the source of the hand. The hand then pulled out of his chest and the tattoed face of a man appeared in front of him.
"Surprise motherfucker," The man said with a humorous face. Braum's heart jumped in surprise.
"Calm down now, Yakanan dog. We know who you people are. We just want to know information regarding your superior...why did they send you here?" The man said.
Braum was speechless. He was still in a state of mental shock so he couldn't answer.
"Are the black ops really this weak these days? Damn how the quality of soldiers has fallen. Alright, little baby, I'll introduce myself, okay, My name is Bima...what's yours?" Bima, the Reaper of The Bodyguards asked.
"Braum..."
"What rank are you? Why did they send you here?" Bima asked.
"Before that...where are the rest of my friends?" Braum asked back. He was worried for the safety of his squadmates who have accompanied him in this journey.
"They're fine...don't worry. Focus on me. Who sent you here? Was it that bitch Queen Lazuli?" Bima asked.
"I'm...the Queen is dead," Braum muttered.
"What?" Bima was surprised to hear that.
"She's dead, and so are the rest of the royal family" Braum answered.
"Hahahahahaa those fools are finally dead? Serves them right. Did the Kaiju finally get to them? What grade was it?" Bima was not perturbed at all hearing the news.

"It wasn't the Kaiju...it was the Militarist faction. Listen, I am your crown prince Braum Gundala, the 9th prince of Yakana. I am formally inviting you and your team to come back to help us with the upcoming civil war" Braum said with confidence. Bima stayed silence with an expressionless face. But his eyes seemed to say he was also deeply pondering about it as well. Suddenly, Bima pushed the chair that was holding Braum downward until Braum was laying down with his legs in the air. At a quick pace, Bima put a cloth on top of Braum's face and started to pour water on Braum's face.
" *gurgle* gurgle*" Braum felt like he was drowning. The water in his face felt endless and he was losing his breath.
"You see, back in my days, this technique was called waterboarding. This technique was developed by the first king himself to torture his enemies. But with a peaceful era that we experienced, this technique started to be banned for torture used by the military for its unnecessary cruelty. Are you feeling it? the feeling of drowning?" Bima asked with a mocking voice.
Braum couldn't answer or even hear half of the words that Bima was speaking. Braum's mind started to be clouded in anger. Anger for being too weak to protect himself and his friends right now. And anger for this cruel man that used inhumane methods to torture him.
'This motherfucker...I'll kill him' Braum thought.
"Stop lying. A prince? That lie about the royal family dying was bad enough. The royal family consists of the queen and her eight children you fucking idiot. They didn't brief you on that? I have seen all of them myself as well. Now, spill the truth!" Bima pulled the chair upward into its normal sitting position.
"Hey, start talking!" Bima noticed Braum's face. It was terrifying even for him. Braum's face was just pure, unadulterated rage. He looked like he could kill a small baby just to appease his anger.
"W-why the fuck are you making that face?" Bima was starting to get nervous. It was odd. He was in control. This weak man was tied up in a chair but he was feeling frightened.
Suddenly, a golden aura leaked from Braum's body and his rope started to get undone. Braum stood up.
"T-the royal battle force? Shit!" Bima pulled out his two daggers from his back.
Braum was unarmed and without his armors. But it was no problem for him. Braum started to form a golden sword of light in his right hand. Its shape was rough and uneven but exuded incredible power. Braum slashed the sword towards Bima.

"Heh! No use!" Bima thought that because of his phasing ability, the sword would just go straight into him without physically harming him. Bima did not intend to dodge as to show Braum that it was no use attacking him and that it was better to just give up.
Braum's swing was clumsy due to his tired state and the sword seemed heavy in his grasp. Finally, the sword made its way towards the right arm of Bima—missing any vital parts of the body. And the sword of light did go straight through Bima like he predicted himself. But there was something wrong.
"It's my turn" Bima tried to raise his two daggers to attack. An emphasis on 'tried' because his right arm didn't move.
"What!?" Bima couldn't feel his right hand. He saw that his right arm was perfectly fine with no injuries or cuts. He just couldn't move them when he tried.
"What the fuck did you do!?" Bima held his right arm in an attempt to move it but it just limped down towards the floor. He could not move and feel his right hand.
(BANG)
The door of the damp room opened. It was Toziro and a few others behind him.
"What happened? I heard you scream-" Toziro said in an alert tone. He finally saw Braum with his golden aura and sword of light and Bima holding his right hand.
"H-he made me lose function of my right arm! I can't move my right hand! Help! Bring Sumi!" In fact, Sumi was also behind Toziro and she ran to Bima to heal him. Sumi, also known as Angel, had the ability of healing as her Nova and she could heal literally everything in an instance with the exception of reviving the dead—provided that she has enough Batle Force.
"I-it's healing but very slowly! It'll take a long while before he recovers!" Sumi said while clutching Bima's hand. Bima slumped down to the floor.
"That aura...you're a royalty. Stop this. Let's talk it out. I'm sorry for my subordinate's behavior. He's not exactly he most stable member of the group" Toziro muttered seriously towards Braum. But Braum's eyes were still full of rage and he didn't answer.
"He's not listening. I'll have to take him down. Sumi, Bring Bima out of here and the rest of you—secure the rest of the Yakanans" Toziro ordered and everyone left the room. Now, it was just Braum and Toziro face-to-face.
"So you're the highly classified ninth prince. I didn't expect it was you. My mistake. I know about you...as a General, I was briefed on this several times but we didn't think there would ever be a time where we would have to call you to Yakana. Judging by your presence here, something must have happened back in Yakana. I am willing to listen. This is a final warning if you don't want to receive the greatest headache of your life. Surrender peacefully." Toziro's stance was still relaxed and he didn't even grab the sword in his sheath.
Braum didn't listen again. He ran towards Toziro in an incredibly fast speed with the intention of slashing his golden sword of light towards Toziro.
"You are at least ten years too early to be thinking of taking me on, kiddo" Toziro activated his Battle Force. It was dark blue in color. At an ever faster speed than the blink of an eye, Toziro suddenly appeared in front of Braum and touched his shoulder. After doing that, Toziro blinked back towards his previous position. Braum didn't even have time to react at all.
"What did you do?" Braum stopped on his tracks and muttered.
"So you CAN speak after all. Too late. Prepare to puke for at least a day after this." Toziro waved his hand to the side and Braum fell towards the wall.
"W-what!?" Braum's sense of direction shifted. Now, the wall was his downward direction. His body slammed towards the wall but after standing up he realized that he was basically standing on the wall. The previous floor was now his wall.
"Interesting isn't it? My Nova allows me to change the direction of gravity for any objects. Remember how I said you should prepare for a headache? This is why" Toziro then waved his hand in a circular motion.
Braum was suddenly falling in different directions. He fell towards the wall, to the floor again, to the ceiling, back to the floor, to the ceiling, to the wall, this continuously repeated.
"I'll let you stay like this for....let's say three hours while I talk to the rest of your friends. Enjoy the ride hahahahaha." Toziro laughed and left the room. Braum was now stuck in a perpetual falling down in different directions.
