《Red Road》Chapter 4 - Taruck

Three hours had passed, the training was over at last. Kiron was exhausted, this training was meant for people at the 3rd to 4th rank of the Profound Practitioner Realm. Naturally, Kiron had some struggles keeping up with the others, but he didn’t mind that. Kiron enjoyed pushing himself, how can he become the strongest if he doesn’t push himself to his limits?
Kiron put his shirt back on, and was about to start walking towards the city called Taruck, “Hey Kiron, what are you planning to do now?” Robin was the one who spoke just now. Kiron turned his head around and looked at Robin, “I’m going to the city to buy a weapon!” Kiron said while pointing in the direction of Taruck.
“Really? I’m supposed to go there as well, I’m going there to buy some herbs for my mother!” Robin opened his bag and took a piece of paper out, showing it to Kiron.
Kiron looked at Robin, “Then, let’s go!” With a satisfied expression, Kiron started walking towards Taruck.
It was still summer over in Trieste, the weather was hotter than it had even been before this summer. Kiron and Robin were walking down a dirt road, on their way to Taruck. “So, what kind of weapon are you going to buy?” As Taruck said that, he pulled a short sword out of his bag, showing it to Kiron. “Me? I want a colossal heavy sword!” When Kiron was young, his mother would always tell him stories about the experts across the world of Trieste.
In those stories there was a man called Baroona who stood above all else! A man at the legendary Profound Star Realm! He was nicknamed the God of War. He would always walk around with his heavy sword Celeste and his soul beast named Musfel, striking down all enemies in his path! But one day he suddenly disappeared, and no one knows where he went.
“A colossal heavy sword? Just how much money have you brought? Buying a colossal heavy sword would cost you more than 50,000 gold coins!” Robin was obviously shocked when he heard what Kiron wanted to buy. “What? I only have 2 gold coins to spend on a weapon!” Kiron was obviously shocked upon hearing how much a heavy sword costs, his face showed a hint of sadness. “2 gold coins? You can buy a small dagger for 2 gold coins...” “Besides, there aren’t many people who prefer using a heavy sword. It’s heavy and it will only slow you down. And I don’t think you can even buy one in Taruck, not only do they cost a lot of money, but they’re also extremely rare!” Robin sighed slightly.

Kiron’s face immediately brightened up again, “Doesn’t matter, I’ll definitely get a heavy sword in the future!” As his voice rang out, Robin’s face filled with a strange expression.
Even though Robin hadn’t known Kiron for long, it wasn’t hard to realize that Kiron was a stubborn guy. Once he set his mind on something, he definitely would not give up.
Kiron and Robin were talking and laughing as they were moving forwards.
…
They finally arrived at the city Taruck. Kiron and Robin walked inside the city gates, “It’s your first time here, right? I’ll show you where you can buy a weapon.” He grabbed Kiron’s sleeve and pulled him towards the marketplace.
“We’re here! This is the marketplace, you can buy or sell anything here. Weapons, armor, herbs, cores or even profound medicine,” Robin continued “Over there is where you can buy weapons, let’s go check it out!”
Axes, swords, spears, bows and arrows… This shop has all kinds of weapons! Kiron looked around for a bit, but no matter what he looked at, he couldn’t afford it. “I told you, 2 gold isn’t enough to buy a proper weapon… Here, this iron dagger costs only 2 gold coins, you should buy it!” Robin handed the iron dagger over to Kiron.
“Sir, I’ll be buying this dagger” Kiron handed 2 gold coins over to the shop keeper. “Okay, I’ve bought a weapon! Let’s go buy those herbs” Kiron had a satisfied expression on his face. He followed Robin towards the center of the marketplace.
Robin stopped and looked around for a bit, “Strange, I remember there was a shop here that sold herbs,” Robin continued “Anyways, let’s keep looking for now. If we don’t find anything, we can just ask someone for help” Robin continued walking forwards
Kiron was feeling a bit uncomfortable, the marketplace was crowded with people. Kiron had never been in a crowd before, unless you consider 8-9 kids around his age a crowd. This place was truly different from Norica, there are more people at this marketplace than there is in all of Norica.
“Ah, I found it! It’s the shop over there.” Robin grabbed Kiron’s sleeve and pulled him into the store. “Wow, there are so many herbs in here! Hey Robin, what’re all these herbs used for?” Seeing all the herbs in the shop, Kiron couldn’t help but being curious.

“Herbs have many uses, but I only know about the healing purposes. My other is a doctor, so she uses these herbs to heal her patients.” Robin said as he handed the shopping list over to the shopkeeper… “So, are they like Profound Medicines?” Kiron was wondering whether or not these herbs could be used for cultivation. “Profound Medicines? …I think so.” Robin had an uncertain look on his face as he said that.
Kiron was about to speak, but he was interrupted, “No. Profound Medicines are different from herbs. Profound Medicines are pills that contains a large amount of either World Qi or Spiritual Energy, whereas herbs are natural plants that grows from nature itself”. The mysterious man looked at Kiron as he spoke.
“Who are you?” Kiron said in a low, natural voice. Just as the mysterious man was about to speak, Robin opened his mouth and said “Kiron, didn’t you tell me that you’re supposed to introduce yourself before asking someone else who they are?” Robin said with a friendly grin on his face
“…” Kiron was obviously taken by surprise. He didn’t expect that his own words would be used against him… “You’re right, sorry. My name is Kiron… Who are you?” Kiron said while trying to hide his embarrassment.
The mysterious man laughed for a bit before opening his mouth to speak, “I’m Gogh, the owner of this shop. It’s only natural that I know a thing or two about herbs and their uses.” Gogh went over to one of the shelves and picked out some herbs, “Even if herbs can’t help you cultivate faster, it can help you with injuries and fatigue. When some alchemists creates profound medicines, they will usually add in some herbs for added effects.” Gogh put the herbs back into the shelves.
“Additional effects? Like what exactly?” Kiron would always pay attention when learning something that’s new and useful.
Gogh took off his glove, revealing an interspatial ring “That’s an interspatial ring!” Both Kiron and Robin were incredibly surprised upon seeing the ring. An interspatial ring was worth a lot of money, and they had a lot of space within them that could be used for storage!
Almost every cultivator knew what an interspatial ring was. Most sect members would receive one the moment they join.
Gogh took a pill out of his ring, “This is a profound medicine. It contains a healing effect that will remove all fatigue and stop your bleeding. It also contains a small amount of World Qi, maybe comparable to a Low Ranked Core”
Kiron and Robin were staring at the pill with a look of amazement in their eyes, but unfortunately, they couldn’t afford that pill. “Anyways, it was nice meeting you buys, but I have some errands to run. Perhaps we’ll meet again another day.” Gogh stored the pill back into his interspatial ring, then he walked into another room.
…
“Here’s the herbs you’ve requested!” After hearing this, Robin turned around and took some gold coins out of his pocket and gave it to the shopkeeper in exchange for the herbs, then he walked out of the shop with Kiron.
Robin turned his head around and looked at Kiron, “Hey Kiron, you feeling hungry? I still got some silver coins that we can use to buy some food” Robin was pointing towards a small restaurant. Kiron opened his mouth, “That would be great! I’m starving”, Kiron rubbed his small belly as he spoke.
“Let’s go then!” Robin started walking towards the restaurant, with Kiron following right behind. As they got into the small restaurant, they sat down and ordered some food.
Robin’s expression suddenly change into a more serious one, “Kiron, do you want to go hunting with me on our way back from the city? Hunting profound beasts that is.”
