《My Cerberus Girlfriend》Book One: Chapter 14

From the elevator, Roger stepped into the nosy office floor where everybody was running a mock around their desks. Every single staff was answering phones while they threw papers into the air.
What the hell is going on?
Roger dashed through the mob until he reached the chief's office door. He knocked on it.
"Come in! Come in!" the chief's voice shouted.
Roger pushed the door open and stepped in. He found the chief sitting behind his desk, reading through papers while smoking a cigar.
The chief was a tall, muscular black man with a bald head and a mustache. He wore a white shirt with black jeans.
Roger heard that the chief was a heavyweight boxer before he entered the police academy. He probably wants to beat up criminals this time.
The chief tapped his cigar in his ashtray and stared at Roger. "About time you got here. Where the hell have you been?"
"I had to take care of something at my condo," said Roger. "What is going on out there?"
"We are receiving a shit load of calls tonight. People are calming they are seeing monsters on the street. We sent patrols to investigate, but they found nothing. Some didn't even call back for hours. Damn, it’s crazy out there!"
Roger agreed.
It sounded like more monsters were appearing in the city, and people were noticing them.
"So what happened to Spencer?" The chief asked.
Roger opened his mouth until he saw three familiar faces in the window behind the chief. Cilla waved to him while her other hand was holding on the ledge above the window.
What the hell are they doing?
The chief beamed his eyes at Roger and turned around. With luck, the three-headed beast woman vanished.
Roger sighed.

The chief looked back at Roger. "What were you looking at?"
"Oh nothing, sir. I thought I saw a bird flew by."
"You're more worry about a bird than reporting the incident?"
Roger shook his head and pulled up a chair to sit down on. "Chief, this might sound crazy, but what people are seeing is true. There are monsters out there on the street. Spencer and I found one at the zoo. She ambushed Spencer and attacked me."
The chief raised an eyebrow. "She?"
"Yes, she is a half-snake woman."
"Oh really. How did you stop her?"
Roger closed his lips. He wasn't sure if he should acknowledge the Cerberus woman's present to his chief. Either her heads would get angry at him, or the chief would think he was insane. But lives were at stake in the city. "I didn't….. Another monster attacked her, and they both escaped. I tried to find them, but they left no trail. Then that is when you called me."
The chief dipped his cigar into his ashtray. "Okay, but you have no evidence to support your sighting."
"I am telling the truth, sir. Why would I be making it up if others are calling you about it?"
The chief crossed his arms. "I don't know. Maybe some crazy-ass hallucination gas is f**king up people's brains tonight. But I am sorry for what happened to Spencer. We will let his family know and provide a funeral for his service. But there is a panic right now we are trying to deal with. We got no time for monster stories or whatever."
"But I am serious, sir!"
"Me too, but I don't believe in monsters unless-"
An officer burst through the door and stood behind Roger. "Sir, we have an emergency!"

"What is it?" The chief asked.
"Two strange suspects are robbing the California Science Academy museum. They killed all the security, and they don't look human."
"What do you mean they don't look human?"
"It's….. hard to say."
The chief rose and grabbed his tan trench coat off his coat rack. "Send all units there now. I want the place surrounded."
"Yes, sir!"
Roger followed the chief out. "Sir, if you don't mind, I want to-"
"Just do whatever the hell you want. I got a museum to save."
Roger stopped outside the office door. "Thanks, sir."
Since Roger won't be joining the force, he could tell Katina, Cilla, and Labda about the break-in at the California Science Academy. Both of them could sneak in and stop whatever was inside the museum. With her by his side, he won't be afraid and feel helpless.
