《My Cerberus Girlfriend》Book One: Chapter 31

Medusa reached the top of the concrete building from the stairway. Lewis followed behind her while getting soaked in the rain. He doesn't appear to enjoy it, but Medusa didn't mind. Feeling the rain after years of being trapped in the Underworld was a big refreshment for her.
She stopped toward the edge and listened to the roaring sound in the air.
Far across the ocean, the Cetus knocked two buildings down. He grabbed a hand full of something and dropped it into his open maw. They could be debris or screaming people. A loud siren echoed across the city. Everyone was in a panic.
Medusa laughed. "Do you hear the sssscreams and agony?"
Lewis nodded. "More like a war zone."
Medusa smiled at him. "I never have ssseen a monssster attack a city before, but it looksss ssso beautiful."
Lewis turned to Medusa. "Were you a human once?"
"Yesss."
"Then why are you happy to watch your kind suffer-"
Medusa hissed at him. "They are not my kind! After Athena changed me, the humansss kept me out from their townsss. They judged me and hated me for no reassson. Only becaussse of my looksss."
She glared at the city. "I want all the gods and humans to sssuffer how I sssuffered. Oncesss they are gone, the world ssshall become a better place for monsssters like usss. No more hiding, no more being hunted, and no more imprisonment."
Lewis's stone lips lingered into a smile. "I like that."
Medusa wrapped her arms around him and kissed his cheek. "I'm counting on it."

The island grew closer and closer as Roger drove the speedboat toward it. Hundreds of lives were being lost in the city by a minute. But the only thing he could do was keep moving. There was no other way to stop the Cetus until Roger gets Medusa's head.

"You're going too fast!" Cilla cried from the back seat, holding onto both sides. "I don't think we can swim!"
"We're almost there!" Roger shouted.
"Yes, Cilla! We're almost there!" Katina added. "Don't be a pussy!"
Cilla's face turned green. She swallowed and covered her mouth. "I think I'm getting sick!"
Roger slowed down the boat as it approached the dock. After it drifted up close, Roger turned the engine off and jumped. He tied a rope to the boat so it wouldn't float away.
The Cerberus stepped onto the dock and grabbed the duffle bag. She dropped it in front of Roger.
"Remember not to stare into her eyes," said Labda. "Her glaze is deadly than one bullet shot."
Roger pulled out one shotgun from the bag. "What about you?"
"She can't turn us into stone. Hades made us immune to all enchantments."
"Not even poison can kick our asses," said Katina.
Roger knew that already, but he also knew Medusa had other tricks up her sleeves. If he could get rid of her staff, she should become powerless.
On the other hand, her golem minion was a tough foul to take down. But with a shotgun and a rocket launcher, Roger might blow the monster into pieces. Roger could only hope the golem wasn't indestructible.
He clicked his shotgun. "Alright. Let's get that bitch's head!"
The Cerberus howled at the flashing dark sky.
*****
Searching for Medusa throughout Alcatraz took time. However, Roger and the Cerberus dashed up a stairway toward the roof on top of the main cell house building. At the top, Roger spotted Medusa and her golem watching the city. They must be enjoying the giant monster causing the mass destruction.
Katina punched her fists together. "Let's get her now!"

"Wait-"
Before Labda finished her sentence, Katina charged across the roof. "Medusa!"
The two monsters turned around with their mouths dropped.
The Cerberus leaped toward Medusa. Right before she got close, Medusa aimed her staff and blasted a beam of light.
The beam hit the Cerberus and flashed like thunder.
Roger shielded his eyes to avoid the blinding flash. After he looked, his mouth spread wide open.
Katina, Cilla, and Labda were fine, but not their size. They were now the size of a toddler with short legs and a flat chest. Their heads were bigger on their shoulder, but they could still stand up straight on their tiny bare feet. Even their eyes were big and kind of cute.
To Roger's guess, Medusa changed them into a puppy.
The heads stared at their small hands in shock.
"What the f**k is this!" Katina's voice sounded like an angry little girl from a cartoon show.
"Oh, no!" Cilla padded her right hand on her face. She sounded cuter than Katina. "She shrunk us!"
Labda stared at both her hands. "Nope, she age reversed us into a pup!"
"Are you kidding me!" Katina complained.
"But we weren't a puppy before!" Cilla shouted.
"In this body, it doesn’t matter," said Labda.
Medusa laughed. "It'sss a ssshame I never tried that ssspell before. Now you're powerlesssss againssst me."
Roger facepalmed.
If Katina wasn't dumb enough to run straight toward the monster woman with a magical staff.

At least there’s one small silver lining—Roark managed the grab a powerful magic artifact on his way through the portal, and with it he might just be able to save the world after all. Unless, of course, the Tyrant King gets to him first …Hey everyone, so as most of you know, I write books for a living, and I just put this title up on Amazon (and enrolled it in KU). Because KU requires exclusivity as part of their terms of service, I have had to pull the majority of the content from this site. I left the full novel up for as long as possible, so I hope everyone got a chance to read it. If you haven't had a chance to read it in its entirety (sorry!) you can pick it up on Amazon. Thanks again for coming on this journey with me, and I so hope you enjoyed it. The book will be out on Tuesday July 24th. Best, James Hunter
