Chapter 43 – Mansion
Raj referred me to Vicci’s. It was the clothing shop for elite. They were sewing custom clothing and shoes for rich customers. I went ahead and ordered a costume for 40 gold coins. They were going to make me the best possible Artarian party costume in a day’s time.
I paid another 80 gold coins for extra’s that Raj was going to add to freshener list. He told me there would be black caviar to be eaten with butter on bread. I nodded to him as if knowing what is was.
I had black pants on me with white breeches up to my knees with drawn strings. Black low-heeled shoes with gold buckles were attracting attention. Yellow doublet with rounded waist and slashed sleeves gave a different aura to me. Wearing a tricorn hat was a must but I refused as it was going to be an indoor party.
Raj had arranged a group for live music. I was welcome guests by the door. Baron Svaldr was missing and Raj told me not to worry as he will join later on.
None of the guests belonged to Belgravia. All of them were from different parts of Marlings and Ludara kingdoms and were visiting Melkin for entertainment and holidays. Most likely they attended every party thrown in the Pallazo.
Baron Mirun Svaldr joined party few hours before the midnight. By that time, I was drinking wine and enjoying the occasional food by joining groups of people and talking to them. People get to know me as a good storyteller. I told them no lies but truth. I told them the legend of a kid who was lost in Devil’s Canyon and his travels. Fortunately, most of the guests were so into my stories that at some point I was encircled by people and they were listening to me as if hungry homeless people waiting for free food.

[-]: What happens to hero’s family?
[Me]: Dragon kills them all.
[-]: that’s a story which I have never heard, where does it originate from?
[Me]: On west of Artarian Kingdom within forests of Darn lives a tribe called Kali. This was their story.
[-]: Never heard of them.
[Me]: They do not communicate with out world a lot, I happened to save one of their kids from a wolf and they invited me to their village. I stayed there for 2 days and 1 night. I was told of that legend.
[-]: How come you were passing through Darn Forests?
[Me]: I’m a travelling merchant with a taste to buy and sell the most exclusive things that could be offered.
The fat bastard with many questions was beginning to irritate me. I excused myself to bathroom before everyone knew that I was no merchant and had no idea about this world.
I sensed the change in environment as I left the bathroom. There were guards by the doors. Baron Svaldr had arrived but I had no idea who he was as I couldn’t find Raj to point him out. It was almost midnight and people were leaving one by one and thanking me for nice evening.
[-]: It was a nice party, and stories such as those are well percieved in Melkin.
[Me]: Thank you!
[-]: In three days time there will be a Masquerade Ball held at Marquis Lucchi’s mansion and I would like to invite you there. Would you mind joining me and my wife?
[Me]: Of course, I would love to!
[-]: By the way, I’m Baron Mirun Svaldr.
[Me]: I’m Akira Hakkinen and it’s an honor to meet you.
[BaronSvaldr]: Likewise Akira! In three days time just before the sunset I’ll be waiting for you at my mansion.

[Me]: I’ll be there!
Baron Mirun Svalrd left my suite in haste. As I turned to go to eat something, I saw Raj standing in front of me with a wide grin.
[Raj]: You are blessed sir to be invited to a party by Baron Svaldr himself.
[Me]: I sure am.
Next morning I went to Vicci’s again to order a brand new costume for the party, this time with a tricorn hat in addition.
I roamed around in Mall district to find a suitable mask to wear to the upcoming ball. There were so many choices that I changed my mind more than I could count. I decided on a mask with silver glitter eye accents and checkered assymetrical patterns on it. Large feathered head piece was on it. When I tried it on, it covered my face from nose up to hair.
I had rented a beautiful white horse to ride in the evenings. I arrived at Baron’s manor before the sunset. Baron and his wife were ready to depart. I left my horse in their servant’s care and joined them in carriage to Marquis Lucchi’s estate. I was wearing tricorne hat all the way up to Marquis Lucchi’s estate though I left it in carriage and had my mask on as we entered her mansion.
