Chapter 53 – Halim’s attendant...
I left the caravan at the entrance of Ark city. Didn’t know what to do. I roam around Ark aimlessly for a while. While walking I passed by a goldsmith, where I traded lump gold given to me by Hakim for gold and silver coins. I did remember being in Ark before but couldn’t remember in which inn I had stayed, though it didn’t take long to find “Albert’s Inn” as it was the most popular one in the city because of its service and cleanliness. I payed for fortnightly accomodation and began to think about what I was going to do.
Up to night time I was drinking in different coffee and tea houses around the city. These were the places where old people came to drink tea and coffe, play backgammon and talk about stuff from different range of topics. Politics and state of war were always part of heated discussions. By listening to them, I learned that a party has been sent to meet Demon Lord more than a month ago and they should be back by now to report to King Halim.
I checked port for arrival and departure of balloon ships regularly to know if young me has come to city yet. There were many options and possibilities that could arise with time travelling. But before doing anything, I had to know whether I exist in this world. There was a chance that I was not back in my original world at all.
I bought fake beard for 3 silver coins. It was expensive because of its quality and special glue given with it. Ordered a dark green colored robe with a hoodie and packed it with beard in my room for use when the time comes. Regularly checking the air port, I found what I was searching for in a week’s time. Red, green, and white colored balloon landed few hours before the sunset. Using a binocular I check the passanger’s getting of the balloon and 17 year old me was there.

I have travelled back in time.
[Me]: Should I kill him?
My brain was working non-stop coming up with lots of ideas. At this point...
[Ulfberht]: If you kill him you will die too, don’t you?
[Me]: Am I?
[Ulfberht]: Yes, and most probably there will be chaos as I exist in this dimension and there is another me who is with young you right now.
[Me]: Do you expect me to wait for another 3-4 years?
[Ulfberht]: It’s not an expectation, it’s how things are going to happen. You have to be cool-headed and temperate for next 4 years.
[Me]: Temperate? 4 years?
[Ulfberht]: It does not mean, you have to sit in a cave and meditate until time comes. You should prepare!
[Me]: For what?
[Ulfberht]: To save your village, family, tribe and kingdom!
[Me]: Ulfberht, I’m lost...
[Ulfberht]: Get back to inn in advance and get ready.
[Me]: Ready for what? Explain.
[Ulfberht]: There is going to be an assassination attempt and the main guy who hires the mercenaries runs away. Don’t you remember?
[Me]: Yeah...
I was sitting near the door. Mercenaries were so consumed with young me and companions that they didn’t see me watching them. Young me stood up and came to door. Shouted back at Drolan and Anthon about going to attend the festive. Mercenaries and the fourth man left after them. I was walking behind them. Young me and companions changed their route and went into a small road intercrossing the main street we were on. I slowed down and stood for a while. Young me had kicked their asses by now. The fourth one run away but my eyes were on him. I increased my pace and went after him. While passing by the intercrossing road, I saw old me checking out right and left for the person who hired the mercenaries.

I had a smile on my face while passing by young me, he didn’t recognized me. I hadn’t when I was back in his shoes. I increased my pace a bit more as I didn’t want one ordering the hit to let off the hook. I caught up easily. Grabbing him was pointless so I went after him for a while to see where he goes or if there are more than one person who is involved in the process.
He went into a house near the city centre. I could see him entering it panicking so I went after him. There was a long corridor, and few doors on each side. First one from the right was open and voices were coming from it.
[-]: What happened?
[-]: He killed them all. The kid. He is dangerous!
[-]: How?
[-]: I don’t know... I am in shock...
[-]: What I’m going to tell to them now? We couldn’t kill three useless bureucrats?
[-]: I tell you, the young one was in good shape and he didn’t even used sword! Bare hands man.
[-]: Shit!
[-]: Who ordered the hit?
[-]: Shit! Shit!
[-]: What’s wrong Mike?
[Mike]: Kadeer we have to get the hell out of this kingdom. Land of Tats. We should move there...
Kadeer was Mike’s employee. Mike was the one that I need. Entering room, I attacked Kadeer and broke his neck in one go using my hands to grab his head and twist it. Mike was in shock, his hands pressing on arm rests and pushing his body up. I walk towards him...
[Me]: If you want to live, tell me who order the hit.
[Mike]: Who are you?
[Me]: It does not matter, tell me the names.
[Mike]: Palace. Halim’s attendant...

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.
