Sam wlaked though the doors and found that each door led to the same wide room with around 30 miniature mechs in the center. On the side was the man Sam met in the forge as well as 6 people sitting down with clipboards.

Listen Up! The man shouted

Here is where you all will be testing your weapons! each person will be tested for their weapons Power, Penetration, and Ingenuity! You will be paired with a mech and the judges with calculate the damage and whether or not you pass as a mechanic! If your weapon breaks you are disqualified!

Sam then looked around seeing the others faces, some of which were not good with the last statement. Sam was feeling nervous to use their weapon, but confident it wouldn't break immedietly like others might.

Each person was charging their weapon or getting as feel of it and Sam was the same, swinging their hammer around and winding the spikes.

Soon it was time to Test the Weapons on the mechs, each person could attack the mech 3-5 times minimum of 3 but if your weapon broke your out.

Sam swung the hammer behind them and got ready to attack.

GO!

Instantly sounds of gunfire and slicing filled the air. Sam stepped forward and swung the Hammer into the shoulder of the mech bashing it in a bit. Spinning around, they then bashed the other shoulder the momentum denting the shoulder far more and finally smashing the head of the mech pressing the button for the spike.

A 2 foot long metal spike burst out of the hammer end spearing itself deep in the mech and utterly crushing the head.

Sam then yanked the spike out, hammer crashing into the ground and leaving a cracked hole in the tile flooring behind them.

Sam figured that the most damage had been done and didn't need the other 2 strikes. Looking around they saw that 2 other people were done and 3 that were disqualified. It seemed that one person's weapon exploded leaving them and the mech badly burned, so much so that they had to be carted out of ther testing area.

The two that had passed however seemed to be quite confident, one of their mechs had a hole blasted through it, while the other had the arms on the floor.

You three done?

Course.

Yeah I'm done

Uh yes.

Well you can go wait in the Lobby then.

And so the three of them walked back to the lobby and sat in a triangle holding their weapons. It seemed to be Sam with their Hammer, A Boy with a Sword Claw like weapon, and a girl with a Gun.

Sam felt that they needed to break the silence, but the boy did it first.

Did you see that! I sliced the arms and legs clean off! What did you all do?

Well I pierced the heart, elegantly unlike such a brutish weapon like a sword.

It seemed the two had a rivalry and were bickering a bit about the results.

Um whats your guy's names? I'm Sam

I'm Claire and the Sword Brute over there is Kyle.

I ain't a brute Sparkle Shoes.

They are not sparkled they are polished unlike a dirty pig like you!

So Uh how did you guy's do?

I did perfectly I mastered the piercing test with my Super Propeled Bullets.

I did good too! The Judges must have been awed by my Vibrating Claw Sword.

Oh I think I did okay with my weapon.

What's It called? What's It's name? They glared at each other.

Oh I call it the Winter Hammer.

What an elegent name, I approve.

Well that sounds powerful to me!

The three of them talked a bit waiting for the testing to finish. After about an hour they were called back in to hear the announcements.

We have called you all here to read the people who have passed!

The instructor then read a list of names and each person walked up with a smile, but Sam, Claire, and Kyle were not called up.

And finally we will announce our top three winners!

Sam could see that Kyle was nervous and Claire was trying to seem confident, but she too had her hands clenched.

Sams eyes were shut tight after looking as he wanted to get the qualification more than anything. Sam didn't care what place they got as long as they got the license.

Third Place........Kyle! For your ingenius design of making a vibrating blade!

Second Place........Claire! For your magnificent piercing ability straight through the mech!

First Place........

Sam was biting their lips.

Please...

SAM! For a near perfect score in all the catagories!

WOOOOO! I DID IT! Yay!!!

Everyone was clapping as Sam was awarded their Mechanic Card as well as a gold medal.

Sam walked out of the area and into the lobby going up to the front desk and asked to trade in for their prize. They got 2000 Credits and a voucher to get a beginner mech to modify.
