《World 2.0(DROPPED)》Chapter 7: Eros´ perspective

I wake up with a headache. A headache so big that I can't even think clearly for a few moments. I really just want to stay in bed, but I know I can't. I have a thing to do. An Adventur-
Wait.
I remember everything that happened yesterday.
Yesterday I, with my group, took out to complete my second quest. We were supposed to kill some kind of spiders in their mating seasons, and the mutated, and extra big spider.
We easily killed a good portion of the normal spider, but that's when we came to the big spider. Somebody had already killed it. We knew it was another monster because we were the only ones on the quest. We tried to get out before we got noticed by the monster, but we were unlucky.
The monster saw us and killed Egil and Lozen almost immediately. I tried to attack it with magic, but it did no damage, and just took its attention over to me.
When it was just about to kill me, Eros came in and saved me from the attack. While the monster was distracted Egil and Lozen´s corpses, Eros and I ran away.
Eros had received a wound when saving me. While he told me it wasn't a fatal one, he died in a few minutes. With me having just learned an emergency resurrection spell, I used it on him. Before I knew if it worked, I had been drained of all my mana and had fallen unconscious.
Did I save him? Is he still alive?
I opened my eyes and looked around. I found Eros sitting on a chair, while he was looking out into the empty air. He seemed to be in a near trance state.
“Eros”, I said quietly, trying not to startle him.
My attempt to not startle him failed. He flew out of the chair and fell on the ground while making a tiny little scream. I would have laughed if the situation was anything other than this.
“Shit, you scared me”, Eros said, while getting up.
He got off the ground and sat on the chair again.
“Are you alright?”, he asked, with a concerned face.
“I'm alright. What about you?”, I asked.
“Physically I'm fine, but mentally I'm still a little shocked about what happened”, he answered, with vacant eyes.
Knowing a conversation would not work, I decided to ask a question with a long answer.
“What happened when I fell unconscious?”, I asked, with a calm voice.
“That would take really long to explain. Are you sure you want to know?”, Eros asked.
“We have the time. Why use it?”, I said, with my calm voice.

“Okay. It went something like this…”
The lack of light that had bothered us so much at first just became normal. The world was etched in charcoal, the once vibrant hues of the plants were no more than a vivid dream. It had been weeks, or it had been seconds since I died.
I wonder. Is this the afterlife? Or is this the purgatory?
I would not find the answers to these questions now. The darkness, that had been all, was fading, and the light was slowly becoming noticeable. After a few seconds, the darkness was completely gone, and with its absence came the light.
The light became brighter and brighter until I just had to close my eyes.
It was several minutes before the light became dimmer. Dim enough to open my eyes.
I opened them and was surprised by what I saw. I was not in complete darkness, nor was I in complete light.
I was back. I was back where I came from.
I'm not dead anymore.
But how?, I thought to myself.
I stood up and looked around. What I immediately found was Jack.
He was laying on the ground. Unconscious.
Seems he's the answer, I thought.
I tried to wake him up, but it was to no avail. Instead of trying to wake him up some more, I just put him over my shoulder and began to walk towards the city.
It was then I noticed something. Jack was light. Really light. Like he was just an oversized pillow. I then noticed I was light too.
No. It wasn't that everything was lighter. I was just stronger.
Something that Jack probably can explain, I thought, with a small smile creeping up on my face.
It was then that I heard the roar. It came from the direction of the cave.
There was something weird about the roar. Something magical. I didn't understand how I knew it. I just knew.
It was then that the magical effect came. Fear.
I could feel the sweat drench my skin, the throbbing of my own eyes, the ringing screams vibrating in my ears, and the thumping of my heart against my chest. My fingers were curled into a fist, nails digging into my palm. I couldn't hear my rapid breathing, but I can feel the oxygen flooding in and out of my lungs. Hesitantly, my eyes look at the dead corpse before me, the person I killed. Fear tortures my guts, churning my stomach in painful cramps. Fear engulfed my conscience, knocking all other thoughts aside. Fear overwhelmed my body, making it drastically exhausted.
Come on Eros! Is magic. It isn't real, I thought to myself while trying to distract myself from the fear

And with that, it was gone. One second I was shitting my pants, and the next I was completely fine.
Maybe I have magic resistance, or is it because I knew it was coming? Another question for Jack, I thought, while beginning to run to town.
I ran for 10 minutes before I heard another roar. This time I was prepared for it, so it didn't really affect me. I ran faster after that though.
What really surprised me, was the speed at which I was running. At the start, I was running at my previous top speed, but now I would not be surprised if I was running twice that.
Again, another thing to ask Jack, I thought, with a forced smile on my face.
I kept running as fast as I could until I could see the outskirts of the town.
Wouldn't want people to know, I thought, with a grim smile. A lot of different smiles today.
I slowly slowed down as I became closer to the gates. Two guards were standing there, ready to attack if I turned out to be hostile.
They signaled for me to stop, and go over to them. I walked over to them, and they started asking questions about Jack.
“Why do you have a unconscious man on your back?”, they asked, with their weapons ready to attack.
“He fell unconscious due to mana exhaustion. Used up too much of his mana reserves when fighting one of the wolves”, I answered, with a straight face. Some of it was true, so what if the rest were lies?
“Just you and him? Seems like a small team”, one of them said, with a face showing he was not believing me.
“He was the only one who wanted to team up with me. I am half Moon Elf you know. Lots of racist in this town”, I said, in a calm voice.
The guards did not like where the conversation was going, so they just gave up on interrogating me.
“Just move along now”, they said, while gesturing with their hands.
I walked into the town and began thinking about where I should go.
The healer's hut? No, they will be able to see that I was resurrected. Maybe even smell it. My room at the Inn? No, I share a room with Egil, and he had the key. Then, what about Jack´s room? Maybe. Depends if he has the key on him.
I searched his body, and he had the key in one of his pockets. Lucky
I went to the Inn he was staying at, went up to his room, unlocked it, went in, locked it, put Jack in the bed, and sat down in the chair.
Done. Now, I just need him to wake up. He won't wake up, even if I hit him, so I will just have to wait.
After a while of just waiting, I slowly fell into a kind of trance where I would just stare into the air. It was weird, but also very calming. Kinda forgot about Jack until I heard a sudden noise.
“Eros”
“So that's all that happened when I was unconscious?”, I asked Eros, in a calm voice,
“Yes, that's all of it. Now that we are done with that, you have some explaining to do. How did you resurrect me when you are an Elementalist?”, he asked, with a stern face.
“I kinda lied about being an Elementalist. I also lied about only having one talent. I'm talented with two kinds of magic. Primal magic and Shapeshifting. Primal magic will, if I get powerful enough, let me do almost everything. It's different from other types of talents, by being the origin of those talents. All magic stem from primal magic. Because of that, I can do a little of everything. From using the elements to resurrecting people, I can do it, if I have enough power. A Lot of people want that power for themselves, so I have lied to everybody that asked what my talent was. Sorry about that”, I explained, with a little guilt showing on my face.
“You didn't explain what shapeshifting was”, Eros said, in a calm voice. Complete mood-breaker.
“I thought you already knew what shapeshifting was”, I said, in a surprised voice.
“I do, but I thought you wanted to explain it. You don't get to explain much nowadays.”, He said.
“I don't really want to right now”, I say.
“Okay. I also wanted to ask you about something else. Ever since you resurrected me, I have been stronger. Do you know why?”, he asks, in a calm voice.
“I'm not really an expert on this, but I'm guessing it's because mana is flowing through you constantly. Might enhance some of your senses to”, I answer him.
“Well, that's cool. I don't have any more questions now”, he says, with a small smile slowly growing on his face.
“So, What do we do now?”, I ask him, a small smile also growing a little on my own face.
“Well. I might have an idea”, he says, with his small turning into a grin.
