《World 2.0(DROPPED)》Chapter 21: Sightseeing!

“So”, Eros said. “When are we going sightseeing around the town? We don't have much to do today, so it solely depends on when you can”
We had just finished eating, and we didn't really have anything on the schedule today, so anytime was fine by us. It was either that or sitting around in our room doing nothing.
“Well, how about now? The servants will clean this up. You three can go sightseeing alone. While I want to come with you, I have some business to take care of”, Erik said.
If Elora had anything against that statement, she didn't show it.
“Sounds great”, I said with a smile. “Let's go”
And with that, we began our sightseeing around the city!
“So, what do you guys want to see in Lucien?”, Elora asked.
So, we're not seeing everything? I was kinda for that. Well… it makes sense. This city is massive, and seeing everything this city had to offer would take weeks, maybe even months!. So, we gotta narrow it down a little, but what to discard?
…
I am not sure what to discard! If I discard something, and it turns out to be the most awesome thing in the world, I would never know! I can't make these decisions!
“I don't know really. Eros, do you have any preferences?”, I ask Eros, with a calm voice.
Eros thought for a few seconds before answering. Maybe he could choose either?
“Maybe something made with mana, or something enchanted”, he said, in an unsure voice. “I see things a little different than you when it's magical, so I would like to test out how it looks”
Oh yeah, he has that. Maybe it a passive form of Mana-Sight? Must be a little irritating to have it on constantly. Gotta ask him someday.
Elora pondered for a moment before talking.
“If you want to see something magical, just look around you. You are standing right inside a passive enchantment right now!”, she said in a voice that invoked excitement in me. “This garden is known as The Sculpture Garden. Every tree, bush, and even some of the grass is enchanted. The enchantments make them grow in fascinating ways. Dad brings in an Enchanter every summer to renew all the enchantments and enchant everything that has grown. While it is expensive, you have to admit that it's very beautiful. A couple of princes even visited last year! Because of that visit, dad is thinking about bringing in more Enchanters to enchant every single tree in the whole city. When he published that idea, the current king sent a letter that stated; He will visit when dad finishes this project of his. While it will be many years before he will visit, it is exciting to think about. ”
She finished talking, and I began to look around with Mana-Sight activated. It was beautiful in its own right. While the sculptures were beautiful, the enchantments were a masterpiece in itself.
They looked like the patterns I used in shapeshifting, but they were also completely different. The format was identical, but the language itself was different. It almost looked like… letters. The letters of... But that couldn't be! I had a definite trouble finding an identical ´letter´ two different places, so maybe it was just a coincidence?.
While I couldn't understand any of it, I could see that this was advanced. It would take normal people decades to get to this level.
But what about a person who is abnormal?
“Are you ready to move on soon? You have been staring at that sculpture of an elven lady for ten minutes soon, and it's getting kinda creepy”, Elora said, taking me out of my daydreaming.

I deactivate Mana-Sight and look up. Yup, I had been staring at a ladies… Although its a sculpture, I feel kinda ashamed.
“We weren't staring at the physical state of the sculpture. We were staring at enchantments on it”, Eros explained.
“Sure you were”, Elora said, with a sarcastic tone.
Time to change the subject.
“So, what's next”, I ask Elora.
She thinks about it for a seconds before saying “Follow me”
We follow in silence.
“And… were here”, Elora said.
Finally.
We had been walking up and down stairs for way too long. I don't know why, but I don't think us to the direct way to this place.
We were inside the tunnel, and, from the echo when we talking, pretty deep inside it.
“So, what is this place?”, I ask.
I could hear running water, but I couldn't see it anywhere. Because of the echo, I couldn't even figure out which way it came from.
“As you have probably guessed, we are currently underground. Around fifty meters if I remember correctly. Now, you may be asking yourself; Why are we underground? Shouldn't we be seeing the city? You are correct in thinking that, and this is part of the city. It is also one of the few underground parts that we have. The water you hear running is an underground river.
When this city was built many years ago, we needed an emergency escape plan. We didn't want anybody to know about it though, so we decided to make tunnels underground in case of a surprise attack from our enemies. While digging these tunnels, we found the underground river. We then decided to direct some of the water elsewhere where we could cleanse it. With the help of over seventy-five Enchanters, we made it possible for the whole city to get a constant flow of clean water. That's pretty sweet if I do say so myself”, Elora explained proudly.
That got me thinking. Couldn't you do the same by just summoning water? I mean, not every city has an underground river beneath them. Do those cities have water mages that constantly summon water?
Probably.
“Can we see the river?”, I asked
“No, that's kinds impossible. We closed off most of our entrances to it. Wouldn't want somebody to have easy access to poisoning the whole city”, she said.
Well, that sucks.
We spent a few more minutes looking around, but we couldn't see any actual enchantments, so we left quickly.
While the trip down the stairs made my legs hate me, the trip up made them feel suicidal. Luckily, I remembered that I had magic! I cast the Speed Enhancement on myself, and it became as easy as walking on a flat surface.
The walk proceeds faster. It seems that they were waiting for me, and didn't say anything.
When we finally get up the stairs, we follow Elora over to a giant building. It looked to be a giant mixture of wood and Concrete. All the edges were made with giant straight pieces of wood while the concrete would fill out the rest.
“This is the sanctuary. While most of the sanctuaries in this part of the continent is centered around a single god, this one is for almost all the known gods. Its had different sections from each kind of god. It has, for example, a sections for fire god, a section for the gods of healing, and even a section for gods of gods. Though, we only have one god for that last section. This sanctuary was originally for a god of summoning. My great-grandfather built it in honor of his father, the one who killed Fenris. He built it as big as he could reasonably have it. But there laid the problem. When one god got so much recognition, the other gods wanted it too. A priest from other gods demanded that they should have a sanctuary as big, or bigger than the one the god of summoning had. The problem was that the city would have to grow a lot more if there even should be enough place for one more, so my great-grandfather had to do something. He formatted the interior of the sanctuary so that every god got equal space inside of it. Trust me when I say that if one god got one meter more than the other, hell would definitely break loose. Ever since that day, we have slowly gods to the sanctuary. Some are only known in a single city while others are known in the whole world”, Elora explained.

“Can we go inside?”, I asked.
“No, not today. The place is currently being fixed. A priest of fire and a priest of water got in a fight on who was the dominant god between the two of them”, she said.
“Who won?”, I asked.
She simply shrugged.
We checked out all the sides of the sanctuary. Using Mana-Sight, I did see a few enchantments on the windows. I could guess that at least one of them was a for making the windows harder, but I had no idea what the rest were for. Maybe making it impossible to see in from the outside? I had no idea whatsoever.
We visited many other places for the rest of the day. Some were very interesting like, for example, there were these towers on the edges of the city that could shoot massive lighting strikes at enemies. While they haven't used them in over fifty years, it was still very cool to think about.
Some of the places we visited were less interesting like, for example, a pair of magical boats that could sail around without somebody steering, or a shop that only sold rings that made you float ten centimeters off the ground.
When it began being later in the day, we reached the last place. The Adventuring guild.
The building itself was a little different from the previous one I had been to.
The building itself was three stories tall. The first floor is the reception for joining the guild, creating and joining groups, completing quests, and all that other stuff. The second floor was for accepting quests and had a massive area dedicated to finding quests that hung on the questboards. The third floor was the relaxation area with all kinds of relaxing stuff. Elora said that they had a sauna up there, but she wasn't sure.
We walk into the guild, and I look around. The place is a little crowded, but there was enough space to easily move around.
“You two need to check in before you go do anything else”, Elora said.
I looked around and saw the counter dedicated to checking in. The line to it was large but was slowly decreasing.
“Want to wait for the line do decrease before we go in?”, I ask Eros.
“We can wait. I think I saw some sofas over there”, Eros said, while pointing to his right.
We go over to the sofas, and sit down. I sit alone on one sofa, and Eros and Elora sit on the other.
Our legs are tires, so it is quite relaxing to not stand up.
We talk a little until I heard a weird growl-like noise coming from Elora´s pocket. She takes some form of a miniature tablet out of her pocket and begins reading something on it.
I can't see what it says due to sitting on another sofa, but I can see that Eros is quietly reading over her shoulder.
After a few seconds, she stands up.
“Looks like I have to go. See ya at the mansion, and try to be back before dinner. My dad is going to you invite you to eat with us”, she said, and the promptly left.
Seems like she is in a hurry.
“So, what was that about?”, I ask Eros.
“She got a message from her dad. She was supposed to back half an hour ago”, he answered, while looking over at the check-in counter.
I look over and see that it's empty.
“Time to go”, I say, and stand up.
We walk over to the counter and reach it just as the last person finishes.
“What can I do for you guys today?”, the lady asks, with a smile.
“Hi, we would like to check in”, I say.
The lady taps on her tablet and looks up again.
“I will need both of your registrations please”, the lady says while sticking her hand out towards us.
Registrations? Oh, she means the card.
I fish out my card out of my bag and hand it to her. Eros does the same.
She puts the card in some machines that I can see under the desk. I begin to hear a soft vibrating. The vibration continues for a couple of seconds before I hear a *Ding*, and the vibration stops.
Something appears on the lady´s tablet, and she begins looking it over. Her eyes slightly widen.
“I'm sorry, but it says here that you are supposed to be dead”, she says, in a confused voice.
Dead? Why would we be dead? I am pretty sure that I am alive right now.
“I'm sure that we aren't dead. Do you have any idea as to why it would say that?”, I ask her.
She looks over the tablet before sighing.
“It says here that you both were missing after a monster attack a city. You were presumed dead”, she explained.
Oh, that explains it. Can't really say that we were there when it attacked.
“When did this attack happen? We left the city early in the morning, so there is a chance that we missed it”, I explain to the lady.
“Well, be glad you did. The monster was immune to physical attacks, and there weren't many mages in that city. If it did not get bored of attacking, the whole city could have been wiped out”, she said, with a sigh.
She handed us our cards.
“The check-in was successful, and I changed your status to alive. Though, because of that particular change, you will only be able to accept any quests tomorrow. Of you go now.”, the lady said.
We nodded and left the counter.
“Where to now?”, Eros asked.
“To the mages shop, of course! I think I saw it down the road”
