《World 2.0(DROPPED)》Chapter 51: Truth

I woke up, a feeling of refreshment slowly moving from my feet to my head. When I tried to move, it became obvious that the weakness from earlier had still not left me.
But, where was I? Was I still in the dungeon? No, around me, I could feel the softness of a bed and blanket. But not a bed, I was used to.
I didn't open my eyes, but instead simply listened to the sounds around me. I wouldn't want to alert those around me, if there were any, that I was awake.
To my sides, I could hear other people, softly groaning in pain. It would come in intervals. Two seconds of sound, then ten of peaceful soft breathing. It seemed like those around me were being… healed? Maybe.
To the right, I heard somebody move a chair on the floor, the sound paper shuffling accompanying it.
Well then. Nothing sounds like an immediate danger.
I opened my eyes, to the sight of a white roof, with a black spiral coming from the middle. Looking around, while I got up to a sitting position, I saw, what looked to be an infirmary, with beds lined up in a wide circle. In the center of the room was a small, pale woman sitting cross-legged. Every few seconds, a Golden light, that reminded me of the Magic Eros wielded, would emit from her skin, traveling to the beds that I and others were in. Each time it came near me, I felt more peaceful, my feelings of weakness becoming even weaker than before.
When I finally got up, I saw Morgan, on my right side, sitting on a chair, looking like she was absorbed in a rather large book, with a weirdly shaped star on its cover.
I politely cough to get her attention.
She seemed startled from the noise for just an instant before peace came across her face.
“Jack”, Morgan said, a polite smile coming to her face. “It's good to see you've finally awoken. How are you feeling?”
“I feel fine, thank you”, I answer.
“That's great to hear.”, she said, a sigh coming from lips, as her shoulders untensed. “You know, we were getting worried about your condition.”
Condition? That shouldn't have been a problem, right? As long as I was alive, Healing should easily be able to bring me back to tip-top shape.

“Why would you be worried about that?”, I ask, with a confused tone.
“The Anchor that you fought might have affected you more than you realize.”, she said. “Your body was affected for so long, that it began resisting any outside sources of Mana. It was only just possible to keep you alive using traditional means. Healing your injuries was not an easy task. If it wasn't for Sweet Brigid over there, we might have lost.” She gestured over to the small woman, in the middle of the room, who politely waved at the mention of her name.
I waved back at her, before thinking over, what I had been told.
The effects of the Anchor really was much worse than expected. I had thought that, when I left the Anchors Area Of Influence, the effects would quickly disappear.
They really didn't.
Oh, you're back now.
Yeah, I'm back. That Anchor really did some number on us. It prevented me from thinking for myself. I think we even somehow merged together, for some time.
Wait, does that mean it's still stopping my Mana Flow?
Most likely, yes, but you have to check, yourself, to know that, for sure.
And, so I did.
Going within myself, my assumptions were correct. My Mana Flow was still being pinched to nearly a halt. I could see the Magic from Brigid entering the Flow, and widening. It helped for a few seconds, before falling back into the pinched state.
This could explain their troubles healing you. Your bodies adapted to this being its natural state, and simply refused to change from it.
Yeah, it seems like it. Not as big a problem as I thought. Time to break this dam, and let the rivers flow.
Luckily, I hadn't forgotten how to widen the Mana Flow from last time. It was even easier, now that there wasn't any outside force trying to stop me.
In just a few minutes, I had widened the Flow too, what I had had before, and the effects were obvious. Before, I felt fine. Now, I felt Great. Perfect, even. There was no fatigue. No weariness. Nothing that held me back.
I stopped looking within, and focused again, at the lights coming into my eyes. What I saw, was a bemused-looking Morgan staring right at me.

“It is fascinating, what some people can do with the Mana.”, Morgan said. “But, I can't say, I've seen somebody with such control, at such a young age.”
“Uhm, thanks for the compliment, I guess”. I can't say that I am used to getting compliments on my Mana Control.
For most, it would take much longer, to do what you just did.
Yeah, I know, its just that… Wait… For How long have I been unconscious?
“Morgan”
“Yes?”
“You were nearing three days, last time I checked.”
Three days? THREE DAYS! Elora has been unsupervised for way too long!
I quickly jump out of the bed… Or, try to, at least. No matter how much force I used, I couldn't get myself out of the bed.
“Calm down, now.”, Morgan said, with a calming voice. “There is no reason to be worried”
Oh, Eros has taken over my duties. Well, I still have to get out of here as soon as possible. It doesn't feel right making him watch over her day and night.
“I kinda still have to. Its isnt in my nature to just throw my workload at somebody else, without their permission.”, I explain.
“Who said anything, about your friend taking over your work?”
“Um, you did”.
“I did no such thing.”, Morgan said. “I merely said that you're working is being taken care of. I AM doing your duties as the girl's bodyguard.”
I look out of the windows behind me. The sun is shining brightly in the sky, with no clouds to speak of.
“But, then, why are you here, and not with Elo- I mean, the girl?”, I ask.
How could she possibly hope to protect Elora from here? She didn't pull her out of classes, right? Erik would be furious with me if that happened.
“Do you really think, I have to be at her side if I want to watch over her? Come one, give me just a little credit.”, Morgan answers.
“But how are you doing so? Do you have magical eyes or something?”
Morgan laughs at my questions as if I just said one of the funniest jokes she had ever heard.
“No, I have not Enchanted my body, unlike someone else in this room.”
She is avoiding answering.
“My question still stands; How do you watch over her from here? I do need to know, as it's my ass that's on the line if she gets hurt.”
She sighs again.
“Fine, I'll tell you.”, Morgan said, her tone a little less jovial than before. “The answer to your question is because of my Talent: Space. While I don't have Dual- or Triple Talents, like many other teachers at this school, I am one of the best in my field. I can control it like no others. Wonder why?” I nod. “Look in my eyes”.
I do so and realize it.
“You're blind.”
“Yes. And, I have been, ever since the day that I was born. It gives me a better perspective of the world around all of us. The Space around all of us.
“Why don't you get them fixed?”
“It would be stupid to do so. With eyes, I can see what's in front of me. Without them, I can see… everything. And I can see it in perfect detail.”
“How far can you see?”
“That kinda a complicated question. Under perfect conditions, I could theoretically see infinitely long distances. But, most of the time, my maximum viewing distance is about fifty kilometers. That much more distance, than what's needed to watch over your little princess. Does that satisfy your concerns?”
I nod. Now that I knew that Elora was being watched over, I could take as long as I desired. If she was fine, I was fine. I could maybe even sleep for a couple more hours.
“But enough about me”, she says. “Let's talk about you”.
But Morgan didn't think so.
“What do you want to know?”
“I know, what I need to know.”, she said. “I want to talk about you helping me.”
“And that is?”
“Helping me save the school. The attack you stopped wasn't the main attack. It was just a distraction.”
