Chapter 5.2
Adrian didn’t respond, he didn’t know what to say. There was something strange that he couldn’t figure out, and that was who the owner of this voice was. On one hand they seemed helpful, but on the other hand they seemed to want something from him. That something they wanted, he couldn’t figure out. He was a nobody, he didn’t have anything to offer them, so why would they help him?
His mother was important to him, way more important than his own life. Given the chance, he would easily trade his life for hers. This voice, was it his chance?
He was muddle headed at the moment. Nothing made sense. Claiming to be his father, when his father was dead. Saying the only way to save his mother was to become a king. What did becoming a king have to do with saving his mother? Who was the owner of that voice?
It was as if the world stopped when he concentrated on his thoughts. The guards, the small bugs flying around, all seemed to move in slow motion. It was as if ten minutes of time was actually one second.
‘No, no. I’m not listening to you, not now, not ever! I may be going crazy, but i’ll be crazier if I believe any word you say. You can’t control me, and I won’t bend to your will. Now leave me the fuck alone!’
Adrian was furious. Everything that happened, his current situation, even his past. He was done with it all.
The muscles in his body seemed to relax more, even the grip on the sword relaxed some. His eyes were much clearer than before.
This was the calmest he has ever been since the accident that happened. The him from before, and the him now were two totally different people. Like night and day. Even if it was his closest friend, no one would be able to tell it was him.
His golden colored eyes moved as they locked on to his next target. It was a guard whose hand was slightly trembling as he held the sword. It was hardly noticeable, but Adrian could tell that he was nervous. Who wouldn’t be after watching two of comrades die in front of them.
What he didn’t notice was another guard who seemed to be watching his surroundings closely. He didn’t show it, nor did it feel like he was a veteran, but he was. He didn’t have an ability like others, but what he didn’t have he made up with skill.
This guard was different from the rest, he was an elite. Being placed at the gate wasn’t a job that was given to him, he asked to be placed at the gate. There was a simple reason for it, he wanted an easy life.
‘Damn, never thought we would meet an ability user.’ He glanced around at the other guards and sighed lightly. ‘Not to mention these guys aren’t even wet behind the ears yet. Just because you passed the academy doesn’t mean you are a true guard. Being sent on one mission and making it back alive, doesn’t make you a true guard.’ He couldn’t make out where Adrian was, but he knew that he didn’t leave the scene. He just had a strong feeling about it. ‘This, this is what makes you a true guard. If you can fight someone stronger than you and come out of it alive, that is what makes you a true guard. If it ends here, then so be it. But i’m at least taking this bastard with me!’

Adrian’s foot that was planted on the ground pushed off as he darted at the guard who was slightly nervous. As soon as he made his move, the others could see a shadow move. Everyone slightly hesitated, but they knew they had to move, if they didn’t, someone would die.
‘Chance!’ The veteran thought as he dashed towards a point where the shadow was heading. There was no certain percentage that Adrian would pass by this point, but the veteran just had a feeling. His knowledge was much more superior to the others here, he just had to put it to use.
Fully focused on the nervous guard, Adrian didn’t even sense the veteran guard coming his way. It was different when he had [Mapping] up, he could sense everything even without looking at them. However now, that skill was disabled.
His sword tip aimed for the guard's throat, but his heart jumped. His stomach felt like it was going to turn over any moment. ‘Danger!’ He told himself, but it was too late to stop.
He felt something warm, it was a fuzzy feeling like you were being held in your loved one's arm. This feeling was over his heart, but it soon was felt all over his body.
Lowering his head slowly, he was already afraid of what he would see. The first thing he noticed was a hand holding the hilt of the blade. His head was lowered even more as it followed the blade that went through his chest. Blood dripped down the blade as Adrian felt shocked.
‘My moment. My goal… my mother… it… ends here?’ He asked himself as he dropped down on his knees. ‘No! It can’t end here! I’m the main character! I’m the one who isn’t suppose to die. Right? Right?’
From the corner of his eye, a tear could be seen. Slowly it slid down his face.
‘This isn’t real! Yeah, that's right, i’m dreaming right? That’s the reason, that has to be it. Any moment now, i’ll wake up and be back with my mom.’
“Mr. Veil, that was excellent work. I thought it would be impossible to kill an ability user unless we had one of our own. Now I know, it can be done!”
Mr. Veil was the veterans guard name. He didn’t show that he was happy with the results, but he was inside. He put his foot on Adrian’s chest and pulled out his sword watching Adrian’s body hit to floor. “Idiot, anything can be done as long as you train.” He told the guard as he swung his sword making blood go flying.
‘Why is everything so cold? Was it truly wrong for me to want my mother back? Was it wrong for me to want to kill the person who did this? Tell me! Was it truly that bad?’
The tear finally reached the edge of his check, as Adrian started seeing nothing but blackness. Little images of his childhood flashed in his mind. It felt like he was watching the life of someone else growing up.
‘No, t-this… can’t be.’ He said slowly.
These memories weren’t his. The life that was flashing before his eyes, that wasn’t him at all! This person, his life was sad.
‘Growing up with a lone mother, who didn’t even know who your father was. Your mother came home with bruises everyday, as she tried to make a living for both of you. You… waited for her to come home every day. Looking out the window of that small house in the slums, waiting. Except, she never came home.
Day by day, you waited at that window sill looking out, watching, waiting. You hoped she would come home like she did every day. Never moving, not eating, not drinking, for five days. Five days you waited, but she never came.
Time passed, one year, two, then six. You had to make a living for yourself so you joined a band of thieves as a child. A year later, you fell in love with an older woman who reminded you of your mother. She treated you just as a mother would, but you wanted something more, however she didn’t accept.
Four months later, that woman also disappeared from your life. Feeling like it was your fault, you left the band of thieves to wander the world. Stumbling across a group of mercenaries, they beat you and took everything stripping you naked. Once you woke, you found out you were in the middle of the forest. Having no idea how you got there, you wandered endlessly, until you suddenly passed out. When you woke, you had five horns on your head and you gained an ability.
A chance for a new start is what you thought, but it failed. Although it was required to have an identity when you were born, you never had one. It was as if you never truly belonged to this world, to this life you had.
It ended with you being killed by some guards. It was a short life you lived, dying at the age of fifteen. Before you even had a chance to see anything this world had to offer, you… died.’
Adrian saw it all. The pitiful life of this mysterious man. From how he grew up, to how he died. Adrian saw it all.
When he first woke up in this world, he thought this was happening to him, but it wasn’t. He was just replacing everything that happened to this guy with his own life. However, he couldn’t change the guy's fate. It was meant for him to die at the gate, he wasn’t meant to live past the age of fifteen.
‘Your name, i’ll remember it. Even if no one else in the world knows who you are, even if we aren’t from the same race. Even if we are from different planets, i’ll remember you. Because no one else will. Damien Le Elstro.’
Memory Acquired - Damien Le Elstro
Damien, a child who lost everything at a young age. Raised by a single mother who mysteriously disappeared a few years after Damien was born. Damien matured quickly as he lived on his own. His life was filled with tragedy, nothing went the way he wanted. No matter how much he wanted to change his life, it never changed. Bearing the blood of the royal king, he awakened his hidden bloodline, transforming into a pure bred Xylan. His fate ended with him dying alone, not one person knew who he was.
Phase 3 of 4 complete.
You’ve not only gained Damien’s memories, but also his bloodline and ability. The true power of his ability was never revealed due to him dying before it ever ranked up.
Bloodline fusion 0.01% complete
Once the bloodline has been fully fused with your own, your body will transform. You will no longer be yourself, your body will no longer be yours. Instead, you will live as Damien.
It felt like he was being drawn away from this place. Everything that happened so far, it felt so real. The feeling of his mother being dragged away, the reactions at the hospital, even the combat he felt. It all felt real to him.
A little white light appeared in his vision.
Laying on a bed, with white sheets covering his body was a young boy. His face was white, but compared to the paleness it had earlier, you could tell that he had some life left in him. A bandage was wrapped around his head, and his face has some slight swelling.
Attached to his arm were countless cords that were also attached to different machines. His eyes that were closed moved slightly. “U...gh” His voice was soft, being able to barely speak a word.
“A-adr...ian?” A womanly voice called out by his side.
The young boy laying on the bed was Adrian, currently he was in the hospital. He didn’t feel much pain, it was just a slight shock when he moved his body. He slowly turned his head to the voice, and a figure he knew all too well appeared.
Her hand was covering her trembling pink lips, as countless tears streamed down her face. “M...om…?”
She slowly reached out her hand until her fingertips touched Adrian’s hand. Her hand was shaking. “Adrian!” She yelled out as she threw herself on top of him.
Gritting his teeth, he didn’t scream out in pain. He held it in, for her sake. Who knew how long he was out for, but he was glad to be awake.
“T-th..ey…. Said… you wou-wouldn’t...” She cried over his shoulder as she spoke, but never finished her sentence.
‘Was I truly dreaming? Veronica, Damien? Were they even real? No, it shouldn’t have been a dream, it was too real to be one. This must be the moment before that damned planet is revived.’
As his mother was crying, Adrian was deep in thought. He was currently injured, and he didn’t expect to heal up in the next minute, but he knew that given a day he could be fully healed.
He placed his hand over his mother's back, giving her a hug. ‘I won’t let anything happen to you. What dad couldn’t finish, i’ll finish it!’
A knock was heard on the door. “Can I come in, or am I interrupting?” Someone asked.
Jamie leaned back off of Adrian and gave him a quick kiss on his forehead, as she looked at the door. Standing there was a woman around her age, it was her best friend, Monica.
“You aren’t interrupting, please come in.” Jamie told her as she wiped her eyes.
Spoiler : About Me and Unknown Son
Hi, let’s start off with a little bit about me. I’m 19 (Young I know), male, and currently getting ready for university to start this fall. I actually didn’t plan on writing a fiction, that was until I got inspired. I fell in love with a few tv shows, and I thought hey, what if this happened instead. That lead me to reading a few fanfics online, then some of my friends told me about certain novels. Some were light novels, others graphic, and web. All were pretty interesting I have to give them that, but due to that it made me wonder what writing would feel like. I’m not one to say I enjoy writing, but I do enjoy seeing how stories turn out. Seeing one character grow up, and reading their actions/experiences makes you wonder what they will do next. Even if it’s a casual conversation, you might wonder if it will turn into something else. Unknown Son was inspired by these tv shows and novels.
Unknown Son, I wanted it to feel somewhat realistic. However for a fantasy, that wasn’t happening. It didn’t even take me a whole lot of planning to realize how I wanted to start this story off. I’m like, how can I make a story with a slow start, but still attract the attention of a few readers. I thought about it, and based it on some random high school stuff I watched in tv shows. Some characters are named after my good pals, but their personalities are way different.
There were countless trends going on, but I didn’t want to follow one of them. Reincarnation, Evolution, Dungeon Masters, Apocalypse, Wuxia/Xiania, Virtual Reality, Transported to another world. I thought about it and wondered how could I make it different, but still keep slight elements of these. So far, I only have VR/Evolution, but I guess you could consider it an Apoc/Another world type setting. It’s only the beginning, and it’s slow because I have to think things out and work and other stuff.
I’m taking elements from different novels, and using them. This story is dark, but… idk, I would expect people to die I guess. I wouldn’t call this a perfect story, nor some masterpiece. To me, it’s just an average story, nothing special. However, i’m glad you like it. Like I said, i’m new to writing, so i’ll make mistakes. My first story might not turn out that great, nor would my second or third. However one of them will turn out great!
------------------------------------------
If you are confused about the story and what the hell just happened, just know it all started from Chapter 3. Remember how he was yelling out and his mom called the nurse? Well, he never woke up, until now.
I actually wanted to do that, It was all a dream thing, and this was a good opportunity to do it. However the question stands, was it really a dream? The way the world was introduced, the races, everything. Was it a dream? Probably not, but it surely wasn’t reincarnation. Let’s just say, the story will finally start. Advertisement Previous
