Cavity: The Rot Within
It only happens once a year. Where everyone dresses up in all sorts of frights, in order to get their savory delights. Not knowing that each bite will only bring them blight. It is only on the day after that they come to see me. Not for a treat or trick, but to fix their pearly whites. For I am a dentist, not just an ordinary dentist but also part tooth fairy. Only after Hallow Ends is when I am allowed to enter this world.
The eerie sound of drilling could be heard as Dr. Lopter was checking his dentistry utensils awaiting for his first patient. His white lab coat was immaculate like his perfect teeth with his red wiry springing out of his head. He was current relaxing in his patient chair, enjoying the coolness of the room while listening to the 90s summer hits. He heard knocking on the door, it must be his first patient.
“Come in.”
In a gruff voice he invited his guests who slowly opened the door. It was none other than little Suzie and her mom Carol. The frighten little girl was hiding behind her mother peering out behind her mother legs.
“Doctor, Suzie here has some taffy stuck in here teeth. And can you do a checkup?”
“Most certainly. Come here Suzie have a seat.”
Suzie was reluctant to leave her mother’s side but her mother nudged her over. She climbed onto the chair and opened her mouth with her eyes shut. She was trembling letting out a small whimper. It was clear she was terrified such a dainty little thing.
Picking up one his hooks, he started to pick at the teeth. Being part tooth fairy he could see into one’s soul from reading their teeth. He saw the tooth with the taffy on it, taking his hook he scratch the tooth. Suzie yelp in pain and open her teary eyes looking at her mother, pleading for help. Carol was looking at her phone replying to an email.

“The tooth must come out.”
The mother put down the phone and look at Suzie who was now crying hysterically at the outcome.
“Make it fast I will be outside.”
Abandoning her child to her fate, Carol left leaving Dr. Laptor and Suzie alone. Not wanting to have her tooth pulled she attempted to leave. However, before she could escape she was strap down in the chair. She was now screaming at the top of her lungs crying for her mother who was on the other side.
“Now, now Suzie this is the chair of the decay. No one can hear you scream or shout. I know the real reason for what you have done.”
Dr. Laptor gave a big smile showing off his perfect teeth as he prepare to remove the tooth. However, this time will be a tad bit different. Suzie must be punished for her crime she committed. Stealing from her little sister candy just because she got a bit less. Such a rotten core must also be cleansed.
“And what better lesson to learn than pain.”
Picking up his pliers he slowly closed in on his target. Suzie did not shut her eyes this time she was desperately trying to shut her mouth. Tears were streaming down her face as well as blood from her mouth. She was a poor brusher for her gums to be dripping with this much blood.
The pliers got onto the tooth crunching and tightening around the sticky tooth. Suzie eyes were screaming with pain as her pupils dilated. In one swift motion Dr. Laptor yank out the tooth tearing and ripping it out. Blood gushed out spraying over on the white bib around Suzie chest. Somehow she was able not to pass out from this extreme pain.
“Quite a strong little girl.”
Placing the tooth on the side, Dr. Laptor went to go fetch Carol who was still on her phone. Suzie now free ran over to her mom cowering behind her. All Dr. Laptor did was smile and bit them farewell. He return to his chair examining the tooth he pulled out but that moment did not last long. He heard another knock on the door it must be his next appointment.

“Come in.”
None other than young Max was pushed in and the door was slam shut behind him. He was banging on the door trying to open the locked door. Dr. Laptor looked over he could tell without looking into his mouth this was rotten to his core. He could not help but smile as he watched Max’s feeble attempts trying to leave.
“What’s up with that creepy smile? Stay away from me you freak.”
Dr. Laptor smile grew bigger, he loved to punish people but more than that, he love to collect rotten teeth. He could smell it coming his mouth the rot that did not stop at the teeth but all the way down into his soul. He slowly got up and approached Max who still did not give up on leaving. Grabbing him by the shoulder he tossed him in the chair. Strapping him to begin the examination.
“The hel…”
Before he could finish, Dr. Laptor shoved a block into his mouth and that’s when he saw it. Not one but five black pearls. Five teeth so rotten that they turned black from the decay from how Max lived his life. Manically cackling Dr. Laptor found a prize so rare he could not contain himself. His mouth slightly drooling as he picked his hook to pick at them.
Not ready to concede defeat Max used his tongue as a shield to protect his rotten teeth but this would not stop Dr. Laptor. Picking up another larger hook he impaled the tongue nailing it to the bottom of his mouth. Max’s tongue was squirming like a fish out of water trying to get free, splashing around in his own blood and saliva. Then he froze in terror not from the pain but from the look in Dr. Laptor eye. A look of a predator obsessed with its prey.
With the last line of defense gone, Dr. Laptor went back to probing the black teeth. Picking at each one he found a few that was completely eroded, that the nerve was exposed and naked. Touching one with his hook he sent an electric shock that cause Max’s body jolt in pain. Fascinated by this reaction he repeated this process, electrocuting Max multiple times. Tears were building up in Max’s eyes but for the rotten pity was never given.
Satisfied with the results of his examination, Dr. Laptor proceed with the next phase, the extraction of his prize. Picking up his pliers which still had the fresh blood of his previous patient, Dr. Laptor went in. Tightening around the first tooth it started to crumble from the pressure causing Max to scream in pain. However, his screams were not long after yanking the first tooth which filled his mouth with blood Max was foaming blood and passed out from the pain.
“How unfortunate, I can only cleanse your mouth not your soul.”
Finishing with collecting the remaining teeth, Dr. Laptor disposed of Max by putting back into the waiting room. He was now alone with his prizes, the teeth he pulled from today. Picking up one of the black pearls he took his time to savory this moment. In one swift motion he threw the tooth into his mouth and began to crunch it.
He could taste all of it. All the candies, everything the tooth had to chew for it to become this decayed. Then the final piece that destroyed it. Such a sweet sensation made it worth the trip.
