《Cursed Armor Reincarnation》Chapter 5: Better Than Expected

Brann was going to teach Rune how to temper and make blades, weapons, and armor over span of several weeks. Brann was actually very helpful when he wasn’t bragging about himself. Rune only learned how to forge a crude dagger when the day was done.
The night was already upon him when he stepped out into the moons’ light. His armor was like a shadow in the blue and yellow light, made from the two moons, as he made his way to Hersker who told him to join him at the end of the day.
Rune put one foot in front of the other as he was exhausted mentally. He had not actually rested his mind in the three days since he came to this world. He wanted to taste food and actually sleep, but his current body wouldn’t let him. To be honest, it was a bit depressing for Rune, but that didn’t stop him.
He focused on walking to the chief’s house and reached it after going past several houses. He walked up the steps and knocked on the door. He waited a moment and, right before he hit the door again, Hersker opened it inwards.
To not recreate the Brann incident, he was ready to move his hand away from the door whenever he knocked and, this time, he didn’t smash someone’s face in. Hersker ushered him inside of his home and Rune gladly went in.
“Ah. I hope you don’t mind, but the house is still in a bit of a mess from the attack.”
“Well, please disregard that. You should be fine with the blood though, right?”
Hersker asked Rune this fully aware that he was covered in blood for an hour after he killed the attackers. Rune just nodded at this fact and was led into a hallway. The chief opened up a door and handed him a small key and left Rune to himself.
Rune put the key into the slot and turned it to find an extremely dirty room. It was covered in blood and food and it was just a mess all around. Rune cast [Water Sphere] and started to try and removed the mess. For the blood, the water washed it away and the food was swept up and both things were thrown outside.
After several minutes of working not very hard, Rune had managed to clean the room. The room consisted of a bed, a drawer, and a lamp on a table in the left hand corner. He closed the door and locked it, then collapsed onto the bed. He was mentally strained from everything that happened so far and wanted to just do nothing for a little while.
The next day, he woke to find a tray of food on the drawer next to him with a note that read: “Thank you for cleaning up the mess.” Rune sat up and looked to see that it was morning and sunlight was entering the room via a window. He could hear birds chirping and it seemed nice all around.
Despite that, Rune wanted to increase his power even further and he ignored the birds that were chirping away. He got off the bed and opened the door. When he opened it, he saw Sophia with her hand on the door knob.
She was surprised when he suddenly opened the door and she jumped a bit. Then she settled down and started to talk to him. Her face was red and she was looking downwards while shifting from side to side.
“Would you like to join me for breakfast?”

I don’t understand why she is like this? This is our second meeting and she seems to have a huge crush on me or something. Is it just the way this world works?
Rune followed her down the hallway and they turned into a kitchen area. It was neater than when Rune had passed it the day before and the floor wood was shiny and clean. There was a fireplace in one of the walls and there was a cauldron hanging over it. There was a table pushed to the side with two plates and utensils for two on it.
Sophia grabbed two bowls from a cupboards and filled them both with the soup from the cauldron. She set them both down on the plates and opened a pantry door. She grabbed some bread and split it in half and placed them on the plates.
“Here! This is tomato soup and bread. Please eat this!”
Wut? You guys have tomato soup? I didn’t know people here ate that at all, much less for breakfast.
“Do you not like it?”
She started to look down and her face started to make a gloomy expression. Her expression made Rune want to comfort her. It did seem like she made this food for him after all.
He had no better excuse than that and he decided to stick with it. It would probably explain why he was mute though.
“Oh, I’m sorry for not thinking of that.”
“Sure!”
She seemed to be in good spirits after the conversation and she turned around. Rune sat down and removed his helmet and consumed the food and quickly put his helmet back on.
“I’m glad to hear it!”
She started to happily eat her breakfast when Rune saw Hersker in his peripheral vision. He was grinning stupidly and was giving him a thumbs up.
Rune had been going through a daily routine of “eating” the food that Sophia made for breakfast and dinner. During the middle of the day, Rune worked on his blacksmithing techniques and, during his lunch break, he was off killing and absorbing monsters. When he came back, he was being taught by Sophia about alchemy. She had finally given in and wanted to spend more time with Rune.
“It has been about two months since Rune has come here and he has helped us so much with everything. He saved our lives, our industry, and was even ok with being near demi-humans 24/7. He has said that he is leaving to go somewhere, but he would come back for a little while. Then he would go to the capital.”
Hersker was speaking proudly as he was standing at the head of the temporary village hall. He was standing in front of a couple hundred demi-humans with a stupid grin on his face.
“I would like to take this time to thank Rune for helping our village and to congratulate my daughter, Sophia, who became Rune’s girlfriend!”
Hersker took a quick glance at Sophia and gave her a small thumbs up to cheer her on. At this point, Rune’s secret, that he was cursed armor, was known to only Brann, Hersker, and Sophia, but they still accepted him.
In fact, Rune was quite glad and relieved that they didn’t cast him out and was especially happy that he finally got a girlfriend. It seemed that Sophia didn’t care that he was Cursed Armor. In fact, it seemed like she wanted to make him an actual human body to reside in.
On top of these facts, he modified his armor, weapons, and even ranked up his magic into mid tier magic.

The speech ended and the people started to congratulate Sophia and Rune on getting together. Sophia was latched onto his arms and she was hugging him tightly and smiling a bright grin.
Rune was embarrassed, but he didn’t show any emotions as he had no face. Soon, after everyone said their thanks and applauded them, the crowd left and Sophia sighed.
“That was kind of suffocating, wasn’t it?”
The two of them walked down the hall, holding hands, and left the building. The trip that Hersker mentioned was the class getting back together after two months. Rune planned to get there when some of the others started to move in that direction.
Earlier in the day, he saw that three groups started to move to towards the meeting spot and he had told Hersker about it. When Hersker knew, he called a village meeting and started to toast his feats.
Rune had decided to travel and checkup on his class, then go directly to the capital. Since his relationship with Sophia had developed a great deal, he decided to bring her with him. He still had yet to warn her about it.
They walked to the edge of the village and a group of three demi-humans, Brann, Hersker, and Sophia’s little sister, Dina, were huddling together next to a pure white horse. As they walked closer, the three of them noticed the new couple moving towards them and they stopped talking amongst each other.
“Ehhmm!”
Hersker cleared his throat and started to talk after he received a nod from Brann and Dina.
“This is a gift for you two for your journey. I hope you are safe and have good luck on your adventure!”
“Bye bye, big sis! Come visit me sometimes!”
“The great me deems it necessary to see you off.”
They were saying their goodbyes and they found that Sophia’s gear was strapped to the horse while Rune held all of his. And so, the two set off for the class meeting.
“This meeting is with monsters? What kind will be there?”
“Wait! Wait! Those are some of the most feared creatures in this continent! Why are you meeting up with all of them?!”
They continued on their journey with Sophia latched on to his waist and was trying not to fall off as they raced towards the location at high speeds. Soon, they arrived at the forest’s edge and got off the horse.
Rune nudged the horse and it started to gallop in the direction they came. Then he held up his hand and Sophia grabbed on as he slowly led her to the area.
Rune checked his map and saw that they still had to cover a large amount of land. They pressed on and soon came to a clearing. Instead of a lake, they saw a small goblin camp. Since they were in the forest, it was only natural to run into monsters on their way there. All four goblins turned towards them and started to break into a run.
Sophia stepped back, fearful of monsters for she had never been in any danger like this before. Rune just held her hand, then tested his new chain sword. The weapon was drawn from his [Storage Greater]. He swept it from one side to the other and all the goblins were halved. Then they stepped over the bloody, corpses spurting blood. Rune cast [Water Control] and [Water Ball] and used the water to block the blood from coming in contact with them.
The two of them moved passed them and kept walking through the forest.
After a while of pushed past bushes and shrubs, they saw a murky lake that seemed too large to see the other side. The beach was sandy and the tide was rolling in.
To their right was a group of people who were sitting in chairs around a large fire. There were about seven people in beach chairs under umbrellas and they were talking with each other. One of them was reading a book intently and trying to concentrate.
One person, the one reading the book, was slightly see through and her skin was as pale as wax. Another had a pair of folded red wings and was conversing with someone with spikes on their back and blue scales on their arms and legs. To the other side of the person with wings was a girl dressed in an elegant gown with green hair. Talking to the green haired girl was a girl with white fur and a fluffy white tail who sat next to a girl with a red and green tail with wings.
Rune could see another person was sleeping and had pale skin and his fangs could be seen every time he opened his mouth to snore. He had a strange tail with a stinger at the bottom of his back. He walked over to him, still holding Sophia’s hand, and shook him awake.
“Huh? Rune? Oh, hi. How are you-”
Tyler stopped talking in his raspy voice after he saw the Anubis girl holding his hand. He was so shocked at how someone like him could get a beauty like her that he stopped moving and talking.
The other six people turned their heads to look at them and they all stared in shock as they saw that Rune was holding onto a cute girl’s hand. At this point, Tyler regained his senses and hissed at Rune.
“You aren’t supposed to kidnap people!!”
“What!?”
Seven people spoke the same word at the same time and all showed the same reaction, surprise. Then Ms. Flustern spoke to them with telepathy.
Several people turned to look from Ms. Fluestern to Rune and nodded and Sophia just put on a confused expression. She turned to Rune and whispered to his helmet area.
“What did she say?”
Rune used telepathy to directly talk to only Sophia after she asked her question. Then Tyler spoke up to her.
“You do know what he is, right? You can’t possibly like a-”
“Cursed Armor? He is still a person! And a good one at that!”
Tyler shrunk back as she retaliated. Then he muttered multiple things before using telepathy to talk only to Rune. He was obviously jealous.
