《Cursed Armor Reincarnation》Bonus Chapter 2: The Festival

Rune woke up in the shipwright's building to see water rolling into the shore in waves and he could hear birds screeching. He was in Porte on his third day, a Wednesday.
It was the day of the festival and he had until Monday to finish. His ship was already progressing faster than anticipated and he had promised Sophia that he would go to the school festival with her.
The frame of the ship was already done and all he had to do now was to reinforce the ship’s surfaces and replace all the wood with metal. There were some minor hiccups when several steel beams skewered a couple builders, but he had healed them with [Heal] before they died.
He climbed out of his hammock that the secretary had set up for him and he walked over to Marq’s pantry office. He opened the door to see shelves of food and a man in a blue coat stuffing his face with bread.
The man, Marq, turned to look at the noise produced when Rune turned the knob and opened the door. Then he turned back to his work as soon as he saw who it was.
“I’m going to be gone for a day. There is no negotiation with this.”
“Ok, but are you sure you don’t want to be a shipwright. Your skills are awfully useful.”
Rune teleported to his home without answering. It was still early in the morning when he woke up and the school festival started when school usually started.
Sophia was smiling strangely as she hugged a pillow with her entire body. She was still asleep, but was unconsciously rubbing her face on the pillow.
Rune wanted to wake her up, but he also wanted to watch this cute scene a bit longer. To be specific, he watched for about five minutes until he shook her awake.
“Nn? Rune? What *yawn*, what time is it?”
“I don’t know. Sometime before the festival starts. Let’s get ready to go. Remember that I promised to go with you?”
“Yes.”
She slowly started to wiggle out of the bed and almost fell on the floor when Rune caught her. She started to cling to his neck and started muttering incoherently.
The two of them walked outside after eating breakfast with a tried Roxana. She had plans to go around the festival with Lysp and Enya.
The couple left the house while holding hands and were talking about what to do during the festival. The students had planned it during homeroom, which was before their first learning period, study hall, and for an hour after school.

They worked extremely hard on it all and had tried to make as many things as possible happen. Even the younger children had small events.
Also, some merchants that Rune had met at Tyler’s mall would be selling some items in stands in the gym area outside. To eat, people could go there or to the cafeteria and, in both places, people had to pay for food.
People from around the continent came to see the children and what they were doing. Of course, Rune had put up some guards to protect the children and students.
Parents and guardians could attend free of charge, but others had to pay a small fee of 10 silver coins. It was Rune’s way of earning money greedily. He didn’t need it because the school was self-sufficient, but he had more plans for this school.
He had yet to put a proper room for Home Ec because they worked in either the school kitchen or the cafeteria. The tools were limited as they didn’t have enough string and needles for everyone at the same time.
Roxana had left the house a tad bit earlier than Rune and Sophia to meet her friends who were waiting in front of their house. They had already finished eating breakfast a couple minutes ago and were excited to look around.
Roxana was already really close to the twins even though they hadn’t been together for very long. Ulf, the twin’s father was happy to hear that they were getting along well.
The school year was 270 days, including weekends, which allowed for students to do what they liked for 90 days. They had three choices. To go home and come back after a quarter of a year, to practice a trade or career in the capital, or to stay at the school.
Staying at the school meant that they would have a learning advantage against everyone else and would be taught techniques for fighting, cooking, surviving, and other things. Rune was thinking about bringing those that stayed out to the mountain known as Bear Den to hunt and train.
Ulf wanted Roxana to come visit his house to see Lysp and Enya. Rune agreed to it if Roxana stayed out of trouble for the last month of school.
He only did this because he knew that students back in Earth were extremely rowdy the last month or two and he wanted to make sure that she wouldn’t turn out like that.
Since people became adults at the age of 14 or so, he wanted the younger children to experience a good childhood before having to endure reality’s harsh environment.

Even though society considered them adults, people’s life spans differed between each race, but the shortest one was humans with one hundred years.
However, even with a lifespan of one hundred years, they usually died before then from famine and disease. There were also raiders, attackers, and bandits to worry about, not to mention accidental deaths like dying from steel beams skewering their lungs.
Half-Elves lived to be a couple hundred years old even with a human parent and Tiger People were supposed to live about 500 years if they weren’t injured or killed before then.
Rune and Sophia had wedding rings that halted their aging process and allowed them to become whatever age they wanted. Rune originally was an immortal being when he was Cursed Armor unless he was killed, but Sophia was a Beast Folk whose lifespan was 150 years.
Rune would give Roxana one when she turned 15 and she didn’t have to wear it if she didn’t want to. He planned to, if she wore it, give a ring to her spouse if she got one.
The three friends moved along the sidewalk to go to their classroom. They were first going to pin up poems that they wrote, then walk around. Of course, each student was given a small charm that prevented them from getting hurt or being attacked by people in other ways.
The small charm was shaped like a small rectangle with a button that could be pressed to activate it. When protected the child, it sent the child’s thoughts of what was happening as well as everything in a five foot radius to a screen. There were security guards, Bastets, who were stationed in two different areas. In each room, there were three guards with tasers that used Lightning magic.
There was also a long black case in each room where a small caliber pistol was kept. They were given two rounds in each box as well as a teleportation crystal to instantly go to an area in the school. However, the rest of the guards stationed in and around the school would be notified when and where they teleported to.
Rune believed that there was no such thing as too much security. In fact, he had several barriers around the school to protect everyone in it from control magic and mind distortion magic.
Rena was in her dorm room with Hika who was her roommate. They had become friends in the first month despite Hika being Human and Rena being Majin.
There were two beds in each room and a shared bathroom. It was basically a small hotel room without a kitchen, but it had a table and two chairs to eat at.
They had gotten up early to go and prepare their cafe. There were eight blocks where each of the four classes had two blocks to do what they wanted. The other six blocks were there to have students work at their events.
Luckily, Rena’s class was going to be free during the second and sixth block where they could have time to see three events occurring.
There was going to be a “fireworks display” which no one had any idea of what it was and two performances by Sophia’s class. They were going to perform a play of some sort.
Rune was sitting on the roof with Sophia leaning on his right side. Behind him was Roxana with her two friends who were talking and laughing with each other. To. His left was Rena, Hika, and Rouna who appeared in the middle of the festival.
Everyone was under a large blanket that Sophia made for picnics. They were waiting for the fireworks display as Rune had said to follow him up to the roof.
No one other than him, Ms. Flustern, and Lisbeth knew what was going on, but they waited for it to start.
Suddenly, they heard a crackle of fire and something shot into the sky. Many people were startled by it and even more so when it exploded in green and red colors.
No one had seen anything this amazing before, nor even the people from Earth, because these fireworks used magic and gunpowder.
It was amazing and people stopped to stare at the sight. They oohed and aahed at the sight as the fireworks exploded in beautiful explosions.
Sophia pulled down Rune and kissed him before he realized what was going on. She pulled away and smiled. Rune did so as well and he turned to look at the others.
They looked in amazement as they smilied towards the sight. Rune thought that this kind of event was nice once in a while.
