Chapter 12 - Fast and Furious

Going back almost a week ago. Before the invaders approached the mountain home base belonging to Dasas. A certain meeting among an adventurer group was taking place. In the large tavern adjacent to the adventurer guild located in the city of Numan.

The adventurer group made up of twenty members are called “Fast and Furious.” Led by a strong man named Dominic. The large group of twenty is all sitting around a large table. It can only hold half of their members, while the other half is standing.

“So everyone. I got us a big job. It pays a whopping one-hundred gold forian coins upon completion. My second-in-command Brian our strategist can fill us in on the rest.” –Dominic

“It is as Boss says. The job is a big one. Pays one-hundred gold for subjugating a group of bandits that took over a frontier village. The request was posted under the name of duke Bourdain. Safe to say this bandit group is probably big for it to take over an entire village. Even resulting in such a huge reward by the duke.” –Brian

“Even if the bandit group is big. I doubt it isn’t anything we can’t handle. We are a rank 'B' adventurer group. It should be an easy job. With one-hundred gold split it means every member will receive five gold coins each. That can easily last us a good five months. If you don’t spend it stupidly.” –Dominic

“The strength of the bandits is unknown. But I think it is worth it for such a high reward. Besides bandits are usually untrained men in combat that resorted to banditry to survive. So is everyone in?” –Brian

“Count us all in!! Five gold forian coins each got my blood pumping.” –A group member

“Okay everyone pack up. Get ready to move out tomorrow. We will have a single wagon to carry our supplies. We should arrive at the frontier village around four days or so if we make good time. Rest up everyone and be prepared for the journey tomorrow.” –Dominic

“Aye aye boss!!” –Group members

Once all the members of the group “Fast and Furious” dispersed. The table was only left with two men who stayed behind. It was the leader of the group Dominic a large muscular pale white man with a shaven head. The other was Brian a light tanned skinned slim man with semi curly blonde dirty hair with a short stubble beard.

“Brian. I suggest you stay behind in the city. My sister Mia is currently pregnant with your child. It’s a sensitive time at the moment for her.” –Dominic

“No boss. It is exactly the reason why I have to go on this run. I will need the money to take care of our child.” –Brian

“True. It is all about family you know that. I will do everything to keep my family safe.” –Dominic

“I understand boss but I need this. The adventurer game is in my blood. The peaceful family life is not me.” –Brian

“Let’s just hope this can be your last job. Coming home safe to Mia is all I care about.” –Dominic

The two men parted ways and got ready for the night. The next day the group arrive at the front gate of the city with a wagon full of supplies ready to go. The group then start the journey to the frontier village along the small dirt road leading to it. The journey was an uneventful four day trip. They only encounter a single monster that was easily dealt with.

The group finally arrive at the abandoned frontier village. It was not designated a name yet. It was a newly rushed built village that has not stabilized yet. The village was part of a project to expand and cultivate the frontier lands.

Once an adventurer guild branch is built then the village can start to really grow. The newly established frontier village only had a little over a dozen guards to protect it until then. But a band of bandits attacked and left the village bare.

Having finally arrived at the frontier village. The adventurer group surveyed the area. They buried the corpses of what is left of the dead village guards they found.

“What the hell. There is a mountain with a big red castle on top within the forest. It looks extremely ominous.” –Brian

“Hmm. How the hell did bandits build a castle on a mountain. In the frontier forest no less.” –Dominic

“I got a very bad feeling about this boss. This is not the work of bandits. At least I don’t think so.” –Brian

“For now just set up the camp. We can check the forest tomorrow. Even if it's bad news we still got to check what it is to report back. I did not come all this way to leave empty-handed.” –Dominic

“I just hope nothing bad happens. We all must get out of this alive.” –Brian

“I told ya to stay behind in the city. For all your complaining. You still jump into danger. The second you see it.” –Dominic

“What can I say. It is in my blood to seek an adventure.” –Brian

“Crazy. Anyway. Be prepped for the forest hike tomorrow.” –Dominic

Now back to present day with Dasas and crew…
