6 days after the explosion - The palace

Elena was bleeding to dead in the prince arms. He didn't know what to do so he took his jacked as fast as he could and did his best to try to stop the bleeding with it. While keeping his jacked in the wound, he looked around trying to find someone who could help.

He found the detective near him watching as the girl bleed without knowing what to do and the unconscious Susan. It looked like the guard chased after the criminal

"Detective, wake the girl there right now!!"(prince)

"but s."(detective)

"NOW!!"(prince) shouted at her

The detective understood that it wasn't the time to argue and started to shake the unconscious girl, trying to wake her up. Susan managed to open her eyes but wasn't fully aware of what was going on since she was still a little shaken in the head thanks to the blow to the head

"SUSAN, USE THE BEST HEALING MAGIC YOU KNOW TO ELENA RIGHT NOW, FAST!!!"(Prince) shouted as soon as she open her eyes

Susan didn't understand what was going but manage to do what she was order to do with out thinking too much, she could tell instinctive that it wasn't a time to have any doubts, The prince calmed down a little when he saw her applying her magic and stared at the detective

"Go get some help at the castle, and ask them to bring the best medics and medicine we got, order from the prince"(Prince)

"Wh."(detective)

"NOW!"(prince)

The detective didn't say another word and did what the prince told her. Meanwhile the prince kept pressuring the wound with his jacked while waiting for more people to come or for Susan to finish.

Susan kept on healing Elena none stop even with her milt contusion pouring all her concentration and even using some of her inner mana. Normally, a mage didn't need to use their inner mana since they specialize in modifying the mana around them and most of them didn't have mana inside them, but someone who could also use inner mana had the possibility of adding some mana around them, increasing the power of the spell or casting one if there wasn't mana around them.

In this case, the castle was full of mana since they installed it near a huge mana vein, so there was plenty of mana around making it easy to cast a spell, but since using inner mana did increase the power(even if it was a tiny bit here) she did it to help Elena as much as she could.

After casting a healing spell for a long time, she manage to close the wound and repair the damage inside her body to some extend but since she wasn't an expert healer, she couldn't do anything else.

"I have done everything I could, we should leave the rest to the experts"(susan)

The prince checked her pulse and after sensing a small pulse, he relaxed

"Thank you"(Prince) bowed a little in gratitude

This made Susan blush a little and turn her head, since it was rare to see the prince showing that he care about something. Since she met him, all he ever did was play around or show a boring or disinterest expression.

6 days after the explosion - Hospital

After the palace doctor checked on her, he told the prince that she should be fine for now, but they should take her to the nearby hospital for a throughly check up and make sure that the dagger didn't have some kind of poison or special effect on it

When they arrived, they used some magical items to make a throughly check up and they didn't find anything else beside the knife wound but they did recommend to do a minor surgery to the heart to completely fix it. The procedure involved opening her chest and pouring healing magic directly to the heart. Since it was dangerous to wait to much for her body to naturally heal the would and generate some side effects later, they asked for permission from the prince (since his family wasn't here, as his fiancé he could consent) and went as soon as they could.

Her father arrived in the middle of surgery and went directly to the prince as soon as he saw him

"Where is Elena!?"(Father)with a worried face

"In surgery"(Prince)

Elena's father punch the prince in the face with all his strength when he heard where she was. Some guards and Susan reacted to that but the prince stop with one hand while checking his check with the other.

"Why did you let this happen!"(father)

"Sorry"(prince)said while bowing and didn't try to make an excuse

Elena's father didn't try to said anything else and waited with the prince in absolute silence. After an hour, the surgery was finish and they allowed visitors. They found her sleeping and the doctor told them that the surgery had being a complete success.

The damage to the heart had being completely fixed but that she still wasn't a 100% ok. For a few month there should be some chest pain, and since blood didn't circulate well for a while, they didn't know the damage to the nerves and brain. She should wake up, but it could be in a day, a week or a month and there may be some psychological trauma after this

Her father and the prince(and even Susan) were a little worried after hearing all this but glad that at least she should be ok. The doctor left after finishing his diagnostic to let them have some time alone with her

"Julian, I am cancelling the engagement"(Father) said while looking at his daughter

The prince wanted to ask why, but he knew why, he also wanted to say no, but he didn't have the right. All he could do was to wait for him to finish what he wanted to say

"I understand you didn't want this to happen, but I can't put my daughter at risk when I feel you don't have the means to protect her"(Father)Still looking at his daughter

"I understand"(prince)finally said

The prince took one last look at Elena and went for the door but before he open it and went outside

"I am sorry for what happen, I didn't want my problems to harm her in any way"(prince)

"Me to Julian, me to"(Father)

She left the hospital with Susan, leaving the guards that came with him to stay guarding the room just in case.

The prince wasn't sure that he love her in a romantic way, but he had known her for years and even if she constantly nagged at him and was always angry thanks to all the stupid things that he always did, she was one of the few people who actually give a sh*t about him, and considering that most people treat him like garbage and most of his family ignore him, this wasn't a small thing.

In the end, he let go one of the few people he care about and he didn't know when or even if he will see her again

The next day, the merchant took his unconscious daughter out of the city to one of his villas in the country side so she could recover and miss any opportunity to meet the prince again.

6 days after the explosion - The palace

The prince returned to the palace still depressed from what happen in the hospital. When he arrived, the servant was waiting for him at the entrance.

"Follow me"(servant)

Since he wasn't in the mood to complain, he chose to follow him without complaining with Susan behind. He expected to meet someone but was surprise when he took him to the palace jails. This jails have wards that stopped mana from coming inside and the prisoners usually wear shackles that absorb their mana if they were warriors

They kept going until they arrived at one jail where Aria was inside(without the shackles) while the detective was interrogating her from outside

"Why did you kill him? Who are you working for?"(Detective)

"I told you, I didn't kill him!!"(Aria)

What is going on?"(Prince)

The two of then looked at him as he arrived, one with a serious face and the other with an angry one

"She capture, torture and killed the guard that stabbed the girl"(Detective)

"I DIDN'T KILL HIM!!"(Aria)not denying the torture part

The prince didn't know if he should be happy for the as* hole fate or sad because he lost a good lead, probably both

"Tell me what happen after he escaped, and don't omit the details"(prince)hoping to find a clue

"After he stabbed the girl, he started running and the other guard that was with us chased after him and sounded the alarm. He was chase by at least 10 guards but the guy still manage to outrun them and he managed to escape to the city. according to the report the soldiers gave, Aria managed to run past all the guards chasing him and follow the criminal out in the city. She returned after a few minutes but not only was the criminal dead, both his legs and b*lls were completely destroyed, a clear sing of torture. Right now I am trying to find out why she did that"(Detective)

"What do you have to say to that?"(Prince) asked Aria

"I didn't kill him!I only kick him in the .... there to stop him and broke his legs so he wouldn't try to escape, when I handed him to the guards, someone had slid his throat and poison him"(Aria)

The prince cursed inside his mind at Aria's stupidity. He knew he wasn't the type to lie or try deceptions since she was an idiot but since she was an idiots, he wasn't surprised someone manage to fool her and kill the guy while she wasn't looking. Well, it was possible for her to kill him and play innocent, but he seriously doubt that her straight forward personality was an act, and if she was, she seriously deserved an award.

"Let her go"(prince) say to the jailor of the prison

"Why? she hasn't told us anything yet"(detective)

"She already told us everything she knew, she didn't kill him"(prince)

"How can you be so sure? It's really suspicious she didn't saw the moment he died"

"Because she is an idiot"(prince) shrugged

All the people present looked at him with an incredulous look, and Aria went completely red in anger

"i am not an idiot!"(Aria)

"It is an undeniable truth, that is why I am sure someone manage to kill him without her noticing and why she isn't lying, since she isn't smart enough to fool anyone"(Prince)

Aria went mad in rage, but for some reason, all the people take a look at her face and nodded in agreement. This reaction shocked Aria and made her really depressed

"Well detective, I want you to check with Aria the area where she capture the culprit the path she took to the palace and see if there is any blood from the guy or witness that saw who kill him"(prince)

"I could tell you to not interfere in a police investigation but since you are kind of my boss boss and it makes sence so I will do that right now. Are you coming?"(Detective) directing her question at Aria

"Actually, I need to know something first. Is Elena ok? they told me she survived the stabbing but they didn't know how bad it was"(Aria) with a concern look

This made the prince remember her and making a sad face after everything that happen. Of course Elena saw his face and was almost having a panic attack but Susan decided to intervene before things got complicated

"She is fine, but her father cancel Elena's engagement with the prince so we wont see her in the palace anymore"(Susan)

And this made Aria both glad that she was safe but sad that she wont see her any more. In the end she chose to follow the detective for the investigation and as soon as she finish her duty, she was planing to visit Elena at the hospital

"I will let you know if I find anything"(detective)

"I would appreciate that, thanks"(prince)still a little depressed

When they left, the prince went to a secret stash to grab a couple of bottles of alcohol and get drunk. Maybe drowning his sorrow in alcohol was kind of pathetic, but it was the best way he could cope with all the bullsh*t he had going around him lately
