《File Not Found》Email Nr. 8: What should I do?

Subject: what should I do?
hi,
something really unexpected happened.
I don't know how to react. I don't even know how I feel about it. Right now, I'm just numb, and I need to talk to someone. Preferably, you.
They just sent a new batch of terraformers to Neptune. 25 criminals in the eyes of the law, and among them was Mia S., now registered as Neptune inhabitant 0111, batch 4. Yes, I double-checked it. That is not a different Mia, and that is not a mix-up.
I can't wrap my mind around it. I know you're probably surprised as well. From what I've told you about Mia, one would never think she might run into any trouble with the law. Moreover, into such big trouble that she'd be sent to Neptune out of all places.
Of course, I immediately pulled up all her records and even the protocol of her trial, and I still can't quite understand how this came to be.
Apparently, shortly after we broke up she met this guy Steve J., who was not only a drug dealer but also a smuggler of forbidden tech. He was found dead on the street a couple months ago with his throat cut.
According to the court records, Mia was charged with aggravated assault and murder. Do you realize how ridiculous that is? I am sure that Mia would never kill anyone, and even if she did for some extreme reason, she would not use a knife. She would choose poison as her weapon – something that would let her keep her hands clean. Mia is a very cautious girl, after all.
Besides, however painful it is to admit it, judging from her social media and her texts with friends, her relationship with this Steve guy was quite peaceful and loving. Definitely much less rocky than ours. So if after everything, she didn't cut my throat, why would she do it to Steve? It doesn't make any sense.

She claimed in court, she was not guilty, but they found the murder weapon with her fingerprints on it, and apparently, it was enough to send her to that freezing hell of a planet.
The most heartbreaking and also confusing part of this is her email to her mother right after the trial:
I'm sorry, I don't even have the chance to say goodbye in person. I regret everything I've put you through. Now I can't make it better anymore, but at least you're safe. Please remember, whatever happens, I love you very much, and I will miss you more than you can imagine.
Did Steve threaten her family, and that's why she had to get rid of him? But why didn't she go to the police in that case? Was she scared of Steve's criminal connections? If so, why did she get involved with Steve in the first place? This is so out of character for her.
But now that I think about it, I realize that people do have a tendency to change, and maybe something happened in Mia's life in these past two years that made her into a completely different person.
On the other hand, I've witnessed numerous times "inconvenient" people framed by the government and given a one-way ticket to Neptune. The best example would be Carlos L. from batch 3, who tried to start a union at a toxic waste recycling company he was working at. He managed to hold exactly one meeting before his fingerprints mysteriously ended up on a gun used in an armed robbery.
Or I'm sure you've heard of Jianxi W. - his case had been in the papers for months due to the sheer brutality of the story. He was charged with defiling and cannibalizing 7 young women for some kind of satanic ritual. But you wanna know the truth? The guy was not a batshit crazy satanist. He was a translator who happened to do some projects on the side that the government was not so fond of. For some reason, it gives me joy that his illegal recap of a long-banned book "How the Steel Was Tempered" is still in circulation. Even though I personally find it boring.

Could it be that Mia was also framed?
Should I find out? Should I even care that much? Should I try to help her? Should I reach out to her?
In the end, I know I'm still in love with her, and that is never going to change. I've made my peace with not seeing her. I'm also fine if she's with somebody else. It's ok if she hates me and curses me. But what if she dies?
Whenever I imagine that my heart stops. I think I won't be able to live in a world without Mia. I'm used to being alone but not that alone.
Yours,
Ryan

Mia,
I've heard what happened, and I'm very sorry. I know you forbade me to write to you ever again, but I need to know you're all right (as much as it is possible under these circumstances). How are you holding up? How is your family?
Please be strong and let me know if you need anything.

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Not Another Isekai RPG Story Alternate
The story ends at Alternate Route Finale. Ch 2-2 and on can be treated as Extra Chapters. I still hadn't edited that one and it's low on priority. I may come back to it if I'm in the mood. Most of the portions of the story will NOT focus on the skills, stats, grinding or battles. More about the dialogues (or the internal monologues) and the MC interacting with the world (or glitching, if you name it.). ... With parts of his memory lost, Takeshi, a 25-year old lazy office worker was transported to a game world. Using his casual knowledge on video-game mechanics, join Takeshi's journey as he discover more about the world, his companions and himself. (only if you're interested though.) My personal review: from ch-2 on expect a lot of perversion going on. It can be pretty weird, like the MC want to be a girl and Y*ri other girls, Fut*nari folks, Traps, the mention of t*ntacle monsters and some lulzy display (like shoving a morning star up someone's b*tthole in retaliation). In here, the MC will discover new things as he kept on exploring and trying different stuff. This story will mostly be character-driven. Explanations about the world and its mechanics was kept to a minimum. The MC's on the shameless side with not much real-life common sense (maybe) and he's (probably) not righteous at all. The other characters can be pretty weird as well. It won't focus on romance. Well that's about it.

Flashback: Siren Song
The year is 1969. Yancy Lazarus—bluesman, gambler, future world-class mage and fix-it man—is just a dumb, unlucky kid serving with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. With just a few weeks left to go until Yancy gets shipped back to the States, he’s just trying to keep his head down and avoid a body bag—no mean feat in Nam. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves. Just like the mysterious music drifting through the jungle toward Yancy's squad, Siren Song will get under your skin and sink its hooks into your mind. —eden Hudson, Author of Halo Bound (the Redneck Apocalypse series) *** Hey everyone, this is James Hunter. This story isn't a full length novel--its a novella length work (25K words), and is part of my Yancy Lazarus series. Its already free on Amazon, so I thought I'd post chapters here for the good folks of Royal Road. If you don't want to wait for updates or would prefer to read it on Kindle, you can pick it up for free here: https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B01066TLC0
