The entire god realm was in a huge panic. It had been billions of years since the last time the Immortals' Poison had surfaced.
Back during the reign of Alphonian the High God of Time, a god so mighty and awe-inspiring that none could hope to match him. Yet even he, the previous ruler of the god realm, was unable to survive his encounter with the poison. However, before he died he managed to find a method to remove the poison: Transplant the poison to a mortal with a great destiny.
The reason this would work would be because the poison, which is the greatest impossibility, loves to destroy what was meant to be and create things that shouldn't be. It was less of a poison and more of a monster.
So when it resurfaced and affected the current ruler of the god realm, the High God of Light, the gods panicked. In their blindness to the pricelessness of life they chose to sacrifice an innocent to save the guilty, like any hypocritical being would do.
However in their haste, they misunderstood the destiny of the one they chose.
It wasn't that he had a fate defying destiny, it was that he would have one...

Rather than one story, it is six stories of varying length, each taking a slightly different perspective to tell a larger story. Some are more actioney, others more cerebral but I hope there will be something for everyone. Stories over 7000 words, with the exception of the titular After the Long Burn, will be published in two parts. I anticipate an upload schedule of one part every other day.
