《Battling Records of the Chosen One》C135. Reward for Passing the Test

There were only three days left before the quarterly assessment, and rules for this assessment had already been published.
The rules were simple. Each trainee acted alone and killed a real Voodoo-barbarian!
Losers would be eliminated immediately.
The one who was low-ranking would also be eliminated.
The division of rankings was equally simple. The shorter time it took to kill a Voodoo-barbarian, the higher the ranking was; on the contrary, the longer time it took, the lower the ranking was.
After the quarterly assessment, 10 camps would be cut from the 20 ones. As for how many trainees would be finally eliminated, it depended on the result of the quarterly assessment.
…
The atmosphere in Bloodthirsty Camp became tense again as everyone was preparing for the upcoming quarterly assessment.
Especially when the trainees learned that during the quarterly assessment, they needed to, by themselves, kill a real “Barbarian Soldier” who was comparable to an overmatch in Gang Spirit Realm. Even top trainees like Shi Yu, Ning Meng, Qi Can and Gong Ming felt the pressure.
Barbarian Soldiers, according to the level, were those who could only be contended against by the practitioners of Gang Spirit Realm!
And now, trainees of the whole Bloodthirsty Camp were all in Martial Realm. You could imagine how much the pressure they would feel to be required to cross the level and fight with a Barbarian Soldier.
“Fortunately, although it was fighting alone, accumulated points can be used to exchange for some spiritual weapons. It should not be difficult to kill a Barbarian Soldier as long as we go to all lengths.”
In the dining hall, Shi Yu muttered, "The most important thing is that the Barbarian Soldiers that the Bloodthirsty Camp prepares for us are certainly not superiors; otherwise it’s difficult to contend against them even for overmatches of Gang Spirit Realm, let alone us.”
Nearby, Lee Qiu nodded quietly.
In the terms of levels, Barbarian Soldiers were divided as per the difference of cultivation, which was the same as practitioners of Gang Spirit Realm.
The first-level Barbarian Soldiers were roughly equivalent to the practitioners of Human-gang Realm, the second level was equal to the Earth-gang Realm, and the third level was equal to the Heaven-gang Realm.
In this quarterly assessment of Bloodthirsty Camp, level of the rivals prepared for the trainees would certainly not exceed the first level, otherwise even top trainees like Shi Yu, Ning Meng, Qi Can and Gong Ming would lose the competition.
"Well, are you afraid, toy boy?" Ning Meng on the other side disdained.
“Knowing the enemy and yourself, you will be without danger of defeat.” Shi Yu smiled, "I'm not like you, who are foolhardy and only go on a rampage in a battle.”
"Bullshit!” Ning Meng thumped the table and said angrily, "Am I foolhardy, uh-huh?! You are calling me mindless?"
“That's what you said. I don't mean it.”
"You dare not to admit it, right? Toy boy! You are fucking cowardly!"

“Whether I’m cowardly or not, it's none of your business!”
As if they were enemies, they would quarrel whenever they appeared together, and the trainees at Camp 39 had already been used to it.
If Lin Xun was here, there might be possibilities to resolve the dispute, but he was not here today, which made Lee Qiu between Shi and Ning embarrassed; Lee had to pretend to hear nothing and to eat silently.
…
Spiritual Tattoo Battlefield-- Mille-waterfalls.
When Shi Yu and Ning Meng were having a row with each other, Lin Xun was standing on the top of the mountain in the middle of the vast sea.
Torrents of waterfall like white dragons, roaring like thunder rumbling, were pouring down from the mountain top, with a cloud of fine spray coming up upon the sea, which was spectacular.
Lin Xun gasped for breath. With his wet long hair and clothes clinging to his body, Lin looked rather discomfited.
He was standing on the top of the mountain, with the water surging under his feet, the sky high and the sea wide. Although he was exhausted and ached all over, his heart was full of lofty sentiments and the uninhibited enthusiasm was burning.
He made it!
After nearly three months in Bloodthirsty Camp, he finally passed the test - “Mille-waterfalls”!
Lin Xun stood upright on the mountain top, taking a broad view, and his heart was filled with joy; it was just like he was overlooking the world, everything seemed small.
At this point, that cold voice without feelings arose--
"The seventy-second attempt succeeded, and seeker passed the second test on Green-cloud Path."
Buzz!
After a strange undulation, Lin Xun felt the scene changed irregularly and then vanished like bubbles.
When Lin’s vision was clear again, he had returned to the Green-cloud Path of "Heaven-accessing Place". At the end of the path was the Gate to Heaven as if it stood erect there from time immemorial.
“The result is medium, so the passer will be rewarded with the Part One of Nature Insight & Spirit-Devour Scripture and the Part One of Tianyuan Saberplay."
With the voice, two luminous balls appeared out of the void.
Lin Xun was stunned. He already had a premonition that he would be rewarded after passing the test just like last time, but he did not expect that this reward should be different according to the result!
For a medium result, he was rewarded with two martial arts. What if he got a superior result? What would the special rewards be?
Lin Xun suddenly felt a slight regret. If he had known it earlier, he would strive for a superior result anyway!
Unfortunately, there was no way back. Lin could only take this experience as a lesson, and he would certainly strive for a superior result in next test. Lin Xun reached out his hand and gently touched the two luminous balls; in the twinkling of an eye, arcane pithy formulas of two martial arts emerged in his mind in spurts like the tide coming in.

Nature Insight & Spirit-Devour Scripture, a secret manual of cultivation, enabled one to have an insight into the quintessence and details of something, grasp the various abstruse arts, and control and refine the nature’s energy into an entity that was raw and original, which acted as the source of power; with such an entity in body, one could boast mysterious power…
In a word, it was a profound manual for refining the spirit energy. According to the manual, one could grasp the whole universe, understand mysteries of all arts, devour spirit energy of the nature, and refine it into the power source of his body, thus producing unbelievable effects.
It was only Part One of the manual, but it was enough for a practitioner to achieve Tao Insight Realm!
The Tao Insight Realm, the fourth realm of basic cultivation, was indeed difficult to achieve. However, the cultivating approach of Tao Insight Realm was even included in the Nature Insight & Spirit-Devour Scripture, which made the scripture valuable.
It was hard to imagine what kind of miraculous approach was included in the Part Two of Nature Insight & Spirit-Devour Scripture.
The Part One of Tianyuan Saberplay was about how to practice the saber, and included three movements: Reaching for the Stars, Drawing Down the Moon and Incinerating the Sun.
The power of each movement was extremely enormous; however, it was too difficult for Lin Xun to understand even 10 or 20 percent of it by his present savvy!
Lin Xun couldn’t help but wonder why the saberplay was so unbelievable. He had got the scripture but just couldn’t understand it. The scripture was like an abstruse book from heaven.
Lin Xun suddenly remembered Meditating Magic, which included three realms named Star Circulation, Moon Turn and Sun Glory and was aimed at refining the soul.
While the three movements in the Tianyuan Saberplay were named as Reaching for the Stars, Drawing down the Moon and Incinerating the Sun, and were fighting techniques.
The two manuals were seemingly different. Since they were all titled with “Sun”, “Moon” and “Star”, did they interconnect in certain way? Lin Xun was not sure.
“Seeker, next time the Heaven-accessing Place will open one year later. The third test on Green-cloud Path is called ‘Hundred Fights’.”
The chilly voice sounded again in the empty Heaven-accessing Place, and it was totally impossible for Lin to recognize the source of the voice.
“You will have three opportunities to pass the test. If you fail in the end, the Heaven-accessing Place will be sealed and will not open until one thousand years later…”
When the voice faded away, Lin Xun felt a familiar sense of dizziness and lost his consciousness. He then left the Heaven-accessing Place.
…
In Old Mo’s warehouse.
Young Man held her chin with her hand, staring at Lin Xun who sat cross-legged. A touch of confusion crossed her beautiful and sexy face.
Lin Xun did exist in her eyes; however, she couldn’t sense Lin Xun, which was really weird.
Is it possible that this fellow had cultivated some special manual?
Young Man was in a daze, and she was not sure for he had never heard of any manual capable of shielding one’s Qi.
Suddenly, Lin Xun’s body shook in the meditation; he opened his eyes and found the beautiful face of Young Man so close to his face. Lin could even feel her fragrant breath. Her eyes were so intriguing that Lin Xun was taken aback and said with a look of surprise, “Sister, what are you doing?”
Young Man knocked him on the forehead, and sniggered, “Take it easy! I will never throw myself into men’s arms!”
Lin Xun nodded and stood up, and then he surprisingly found that a blast of strange power was flowing around him, and the power was refining his body at an unbelievable speed, making him feel physically improved and highly refreshed.
It was the benefits of passing the Mille-waterfalls, which brought unexpected effect on physical refining.
“You seem to have become stronger,” Young Man raised her eyebrow, and looked at Lin Xun with surprise.
She could feel that Lin Xun was slightly different again. He became more intangible, with a more ethereal aura.
“Isn’t that better?” Lin Xun smiled, “We will have quarterly assessment three days later. I just wish I could be stronger.”
Young Man gave him a withering look, and said, “Stop dreaming, but you are obviously not strong enough to fight against a first-level Barbarian Soldier. What would you do?”
Lin Xun replied without hesitation, “I will certainly not fight barehanded. I need to arm myself with some spiritual weapons.”
Young Man nodded, “I have noticed that other trainees are all thinking the same. Many trainees have been to material warehouse to exchange for spiritual weapons. You’d better hurry up, or good ones will be taken by others.”
Lin Xun smiled, “Just leave those toys to them. I have my plan.”
Young Man was surprised, “What plan?”
Lin Xun looked at Old Mo who was busy in the distance, and happily said, “With such a powerful spiritual tattooist here, wouldn’t it be very easy for me to get a spiritual weapon?”
Young Man also smiled, glanced at Lin Xun, and said, “I didn’t know you are such a crafty boy!”
Lin Xun rubbed his nose, and seriously answered, “I am not crafty. I did Old Mo a big favor. If he doesn’t return my favor, he would be very regretful.”
Young Man couldn’t help but burst into laugher when seeing Lin Xun just boldly took the favor from Old Mo for granted. Her smile at this point was beautiful and charming enough to enchant all men.
