《Dark Wolf》Book Three: Chapter 14

John leaped from Barzid before he could blast his mini-gun. The demon bull's horns almost hit him, but it left no scratch on John’s fur. He was lucky he didn’t find out what might happen if the demon’s horns scratch him.
He aimed his gun and blasted the demon's back. However, his shots deflected off the demon's armor. It must be as strong as Torgek's armor suit.
Barzid spun around and threw his ax toward John. The ax whirled through the air, and John ducked.
When the ax landed near the vault, the door exploded, sending metal fragments over the floor. The beacon shimmered within the debris smoke, like a lighthouse in a fog.
John grinned. “Yes!”
He aimed his mini-gun at the beacon, but the bull demon charged into him. John slammed into a wall. His head spun as he watched the demon pick up his ax.
"You shall not pass me!" Barzid shouted, blocking the exposed vault room.
John glanced at the beacon and toward the bull demon. He slowly grinned as his free hand reached for one of his grenades. “Why don’t you come at me, bitch! I’ll pass anyone when I fucking want to!”
Barzid snorted and charged with his ax raised above his head. John pulled out the grenade and pushed the trigger button.
When the demon approached him, John jumped back, avoiding the ax slamming into the ground between his legs. He grabbed Barzid’s narrow face and shoved the grenade into the demon’s mouth.
He released Barzid and kicked him straight toward the beacon. The demon crashed into the beacon and exploded. Red meat and stone pieces splattered together across the entire chamber. Nothing was left inside, except gore.
John sighed. That took care of the artifact. Hopefully, it worked and the Earth returned to normal space. To find out, he must head to the bridge immediately.

*****
Tiara’s face hit the glass window and fell to the floor. Her sister removed her mask so she could cover Tiara’s face with cuts and bruises. Zira must have really hated Tiara’s beautiful face. But she will pay for that.
As Tiara got up, Zira grabbed Tiara’s throat and slammed Tiara’s back against the glass. The glass cracked a little behind Tiara.
Zira smiled at Tiara’s face. "Why don't you just give the fuck up. You know I am stronger than you." She moved her lips toward Tiara’s left ear. "After all… You're just a puny hybrid."
Tiara held back her eyes, understanding there was no time to cry. If she loses focus, she will be dead.
She turned her left eye and glanced at the glass. With a grin, she spat a small flame at the glass from her mouth.
Zira glared at the burning heat on the glass surface. "What the-"
Tiara screamed as she swung her sister toward the melted spot, and slammed her back against it. Zira struggled as Tiara held her back and said, "Say hello to our father."
Zira arched her eyebrows in confusion until she screamed in agony. Outside the window, her flesh popped open in the space vacuum through the hole. Her blood and organ pieces splattered into space in a gore trail.
She grew thin as her insides entered the hole. First, her stomach, arms, and legs went through before her head got stuck in the hole. Zira's scream vanished from her open mouth. Soon, her head broke through the glass, leaving the fracture hole open.
Tiara sprinted back so the vacuum wouldn't reach her. Then a blast shield spread across the window to stop the leaking hole.
Tiara dropped to her knees and let her tears rain off her face. She hated her sister. She hated how much Zira stood on her corrupted father's side for years. So why was she crying for her sister? Did she actually love Zira deep inside?

TTWN: The Tale of Will Newbie
This series is inspired by the music of TheFatRat, please take a look if you don't know who he is here. Everyone wants to live in a fantasy world, right up until they have to face dark beings beyond their comprehension. Everyone wants to be a hero, right up until every day becomes a fight for their life. Sixteen-year-old introvert Will Newbie lives in a fantasy world. He's the hero of this story. He has been left with nothing; after a brief adventure in the mountains near his home, he returns to find his entire home missing, every person mysteriously vanishing into thin air. All that's left for him is his rather, "disembodied" older sister and the quest given to him by a rat-turned-god: Gather a team of Champions, fight back against the forces of Sin, and save the world. But if he's learned anything, it's that being a hero isn't as easy as it sounded in the books. So, he'll have to keep himself together, keep his team from tearing each other apart, and figure out just how much he's willing to sacrifice for what he believes in. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! This is my first fully written story, so I want to improve. Positive or negative, I'll take it into account! I will try to update weekly every Friday, but as I'm pretty new to this kinda grind expect some irregularities. The covers are also by moi, done in Pixel Studio. Quite proud of them, really.

Twoen
The struggle for an interesting game has been the story of my life for quite some time. Every game I find is either too easy, not interesting or too short. Luckily, my two brothers who match my level of skill, albeit in different areas, tend to spice things up. When I look at my older brother I have no idea how he gets anything done when he's such an idiot. Still it doesn't detract from my respect for him as a gamer, though maybe a little. When I look at my younger brother I marvel at the monster that my older brother and I created. Deadliness, craftiness and quiet, both in what he does and how he is. When it's just us three we tend to destory everything in our path. So normally we tend to compete rather than team. Although that isn't to say we're just good as individuals. When we work together our effectiveness multiplies rather than lowering. Well enough about us dorks. Anyway a new VR game came out, apparently in development for quite some time. Of course my older brother decided to drive out and buy three copies. What would this one be missing? Difficulty? Depth? Length? In any case I plan to reach the top before my brothers do. It was a competition after all. Twoen had all three things I normally yearn for in spades. Something I did not foresee. A keeper

Forced Development (What does it truly mean to live a fulfilling life?)
To get things started I would like to admit that this story does not bring much new to the table when it comes to the over-saturated Litrpg genre in terms of things like mechanics and power systems. Then what exactly am I trying to bring to the table with this work? A nice slow-paced novel about people maturing and growing older think of it as the re: zero or jobless reincarnation of Litrpgs. A story that tries to take into consideration how a worldwide system would affect the economics and culture of a world. A story that is much more character-focused than the typical heavy progression-focused novels this genre is known for. The RPG system, like any good power system, is there to actually explore the themes of the story and not just as a plot device for characters to get stronger. This is a story where we will see the growth of the Mc from being a baby to when he dies of old age. With plenty of heart-racing actions and intriguing plot developments along the way. Exploring themes like; What does it mean to improve at something and what does it mean to mature as a person? How does magic, the constant threat of monsters and people so much stronger than the average joe that they can destroy countries affect one's culture both on the micro and the macro scale? How people are affected by the culture in general? Generational trauma Nature vs Nurture Talent vs hard work What is morality, society, and people's opinions on both? What does it mean to be human and what does it mean to be alive in the context of a world with multiple sapient species vastly different from one another in basic biology? All these questions are going to be explored from multiple angles using the system as a catalyst for those discussions. So if any of does questions sound interesting to you what are you waiting for, I'm sure you are going to love this story. PS - Chapter come out every Friday at about the same time.
