《Reincarnate into Another World as a Bicycle》Chapter 7: Pimp my Ride

"Damn... What have I done?" Luo Ren said while scratching the back of his head, his long straight hair was fairly messy due to the ravaging wind of the speedy descent. But he ultimately felt really guilty once he saw the aftermath of the supposedly ancient immortal mount artifact as both of the wheels were left in poor condition.
The smell of burning rubber wafted through the air and he didn't know what to do, all he could do was think carefully and laugh wryly.
"I'll have to get it fixed before eldest sister see's it" Luo Ren said to himself.
'Fixed your egg! I don't want anything to be changed, that might screw me up!' David screamed internally, and thought that he could potentially become completely ruined if any of his body parts were to be replaced, and also, how would that feel? When you are fully aware and conscious as somebody pulls you apart piece by piece.
David shivered at the thought of being treated like a piece of replaceable scrap metal and looked towards his bicycle system.
'How do I fully repair my wheels?'

Flashlight - cost 1 energy per 10 seconds - ability to flash an ordinary light

'Ok, how about if I put one mile points into front wheel's toughness?'
"+1 mile point in Front wheel - Toughness 1/1 MP, Toughness, upgraded. (Total MP left: 8)"
Front wheel 18% out of 110% Durability - Toughness 1/100 MP 0/2
'Ugh, all that did was increase my total durability, it didn't fully repair my wheels except give me a bonus 10% durability upon my 8% that I already had, giving me 18% out of 110% durability'
'To upgrade the same thing again, I would need to pay two mile points, but I only have eight left, and this amount is insufficient to gain my wheels the relief it needs, can this system help me out? Hey crappy system! Are you useless? How do I repair my wheels?'
"Host, to repair your wheels, the exchange is one energy point for one durability percentage" David was shocked to hear a reply, it was the same robotic voice he heard from the system the other times, why didn't he know it could do this? This revelation greatly satisfied David before he consolidated his thoughts.

'Place forty-five energy on both front and back wheels' He thought.
- 45 energy, + 45 Durability (Total energy: 45/100)
Front wheel 63% out of 110% Durability
- 45 energy, + 45 Durability (Total energy: 0/100)
Back wheel 52% out of 100% Durability
David felt his wheels transform from the burnt out rubber, to a somewhat decent state between half fixed and half damaged.
Though he felt that his front wheel was stronger, not only because it had more durability, but because the wheels felt brand new. The front wheel was now was tougher then the previous version and could take and he felt that it could take on a little bit more damage than before.
This all happened before a stunned young man, Luo Ren who had witness the whole thing, his mind went dead blank, the only thing that could describe Luo Ren right now was that he was absolutely flabbergasted.
He was about to take David towards a blacksmith to custom make some new wheels, but that was before he saw the wheels of the artifact repaired itself.
David was wholeheartedly immersed into the system, that he forgot about his surroundings, and focused on which area to upgrade next.
'I think I should even up the wheels, I don't like it when one is better then the next, it gives off a vibe of oddness' David thought about it like having one boob bigger then the other, which gives of an uneven sense of propriety, so he decided to place one mile point into his back wheel's toughness.
"+1 mile point in Back wheel - Toughness 1/1 MP, Toughness, upgraded. (Total MP left: 7)"
Back wheel 62% out of 110% Durability - Toughness 1/100 MP 0/2
His back wheels gained 10% durability, as expected, he then decided on two more area's that could use an upgrade.
'Place one mile point in Body Frame - Toughness, and Spirit - Energy please' He told the system his chosen choice that he felt was common sense to upgrade at this point in time, or at least, were areas where he could casually throw points in to test the waters to collect any note-worthy information.
"+1 mile point in Body Frame - Toughness 1/1 MP, Toughness, upgraded. (Total MP left: 6)"
Body Frame - Toughness 1/100 MP 0/2
"+1 mile point in Spirit - Energy 1/1 MP, Energy, upgraded. (Total MP left: 5)"
Spirit - Energy 1/100 MP 0/2
David saw a surprising change in his system which cause him to grow extremely excited.
[David Lee] Grade: 1 (Low) Health Points: 72/110 Energy Points: 10/110 Mile Points: 5 Attack: Ordinary Defence: Grade 1 (Low) Speed: Ordinary
He immediately recognized that his skeleton frame became more shinier and tougher, this was due to the upgrade he made, not only was the defence of his body enhanced, he grew more health points, though just a poor amount of hp, it was enough to make him sigh in relief.
This was the same with energy, he was given ten bonus points in energy, but to David, these two facts weren't that noteworthy enough to make him jump up in joy. But there was something else that did.

He focused on another part of his system, at an area just below his health and energy and saw a difference in his defence status, as it changed from ordinary to Grade 1 (Low). He theorized that this meant his defence capability had transformed from ordinary, to a grade 1 artifact, albeit only at a low grade level.
Base on this fact, he decided to use another two points, one on the speed attribute for both wheels.
"+1 mile point in Front wheel - Speeds 1/1 MP, Speed, upgraded. (Total MP left: 3)"
Front wheel 63% out of 110% Durability - Speed 1/100 MP 0/2
"+1 mile point in Back wheel - Speeds 1/1 MP, Speed, upgraded. (Total MP left: 2)"
Back wheel 62% out of 110% Durability - Speed 1/100 MP 0/2
His theory bore fruit as his speed status went from ordinary to Grade 1 (Low)
This cause him to smile widely, though he didn't have a mouth, David just like to visualize his emotions through his consciousness, and created an imaginary figure of himself as a young man, particularly as his past self from Earth, to display those emotions for him.
Luo Ren was currently in a state of shock, he saw the artifact transform a few times, the back wheel in addition to the metallic skeleton. Upgrades one after the other with no explanation whatsoever, to this strange predicament, Luo Ren only had one thought in his mind.
Luo Ren looked around his surrounding with suspicion, but after sighting no other being in sight, he sighed in relief, before re-mounting the mysterious artifact and riding off into the distance.
He was glad that no one had witness what he saw, or else something troublesome would had occurred at that exact time and place.
David returned from his system upgrade allocating spree and back to the real world, he found himself be ridden by Luo Ren through the sect. He memorized this area to be the core disciple area, a place where a person like Luo Ren shouldn't be.
But luckily their weren't as many people roaming around like before, this was because the sky was getting dark, and people were either inside their immortal cave, or off to do other things.
David noticed that Luo Ren had a one-day core disciple pass, so he sighed in relief, because who knows what would happen if Luo Ren was discovered in this area without that pass, perhaps those arrogant cultivators would get angry and destroy him out of spite.
Luo Ren noticed that the bicycle had more speed, if before, he could casually ride a mile in ten minutes, he could now do so in eight minutes, he didn't want to go any faster due to fear of ruining the tool from overexerting.
For this, David was thankful, perhaps his maximum speed was around six or maybe five minutes per mile, if he was to be worked any faster, his wheel would burn out and would make his durability drop drastically.
But for now, his durability maintained the same percentage since he was being ridden at a safe speed, while travelling on a nice smooth environment on cement pavements made for carriages.
'I think I'm forgetting things... Oh wait, my health. System, how do regain my health points?'
"Host, to revitalize your health points, you can exchange it directly with mile points, one health point can be exchanged for one mile point."
'What? Why don't you just rob me, this is too ridiculous! Is there any other way?'
"Host, of cause there is another way, one way is to gain a regenerative function, but further details about this function is classified information"
'Wait, I can get more functions? What's the deal with this?' David replied in confusion.
"Host, once you have upgraded any of the features, such as handlebars, bell, wheels etc. to a certain point, you will automatically be given a function catered to that feature, but the information about what kind of function, or when you will be granted it, is classified"
The robotic voice was form and resolute, leaving no room for David to maneuver around, but at this point, he couldn't complain, in fact it should be common sense, upgrading a feature on the system at minimum, should be able to get you more abilities, so he was glad that this system was not very restrictive, but fair and worthy.
'System, is there any other way beside those two solutions?' David said in a hopeful tone, he didn't particularly like the previous two options since they can only be satisfied after long term savings.
"Host, there is one more way, a devour function, but this function can only be granted after upgrading one of the feature, this information is classified, but I am willing to compromise, I am willing to let you pay one mile point for a small hint for this information, do you dare choose to accept?"
'Yes, I accept' David agreed without hesitation, it was only one mile point... that can easily be regained after eight minutes of riding, in fact, Luo Ren was riding right now, and was about to make it past a mile already.
- 1 mile point (Total MP left: 1)
"Host has paid sufficient funds, authorizing hint, beep beep beep, hint authorized, Host will now receive hint... To gain the devour function, just upgrade this feature once... Hint completed"
The robotic voice died off, and David just stared into space with a dumbfounded expression.
'You shameless system, what kind of hint was that?' David was extremely depressed, but he couldn't lie, the hint was somewhat useful, so all he needed to do was deduce which feature would be able to gain the devour function, and then upgrade it once.
While he was dozing off, he discovered that Luo Ren was riding anxiously, and was picking up speed, David was confused because Luo Ren anxious and wary eyes where directed at him.
'What happened when I was away?' Naturally, away meant that his consciousness was focused on the system, and not in reality.

Getting Hard (Journey of a Tank)
Herald Stone always built tank characters in every MMORPG he played. To be immortal—that was his first Goal, a simple childhood dream. However, the turbulent realities of life put an end to his gaming days. Years passed, and Herald Stone, now having attained success and stability, was presented with the opportunity to redeem himself...to fulfill his first Goal. Trivial? Childish? Others might think so. But Herald Stone always fulfilled his Goals—every single one. No matter what. Immortality beckoned in Mother Core Online, and this time Herald Stone would answer. Choosing a long-forgotten race, hidden away in an unknown region, the journey of an immortal tank begins. This is the tale of Herald Stone...getting hard. Schedule: Mon-Wed-Fri-Sat, 10am Central/ 3pm GMT. ~1.8k-2.3k words per chapter. Also published on Scribblehub. My other ongoing story: REND | Royal Road Expect a focus on building a true tank in MMORPGs. Heavy game elements and numbers are present. But actual math will take a backseat to strategies involving skill builds and synergies that steadily become more complex while remaining understandable. The main character is atypical in LitRPGs or web novels as a whole. He might take some getting used to. Character arcs will develop over a long period. What you see now will be different as the main character changes. The start of Getting Hard is slow-paced (more so than others of the genre) and includes world-building and character development before focusing on the LitRPG.
