Chapter 5
I didn’t believe those words.
It’s a trap. To capture me too.
But...I knew I had no choice if I wanted to see Julius alive.
I reached the designated place ten minutes before 6 PM and it was empty. Exactly at 6, I spotted a lone figure walking towards me. My keen eyes noticed that he was holding a gun. Feeling suspicious, I drew my own firearm and stood my ground.
When Julius came about twenty feet of me, he stopped and I noticed the crazed look in his eyes. Realizing what was going on I shouted ‘No!’ and dodged sideways just as a hail of bullets struck the ground where I had been standing.
“You monster! You killed my family! Gesù, I will end you!” Julius screamed at me like a madman as he reloaded his firearm.
Darn it, they used the Illusione Istigatore on him.
Knowing that there would be no respite until I knocked him out, I shot at him and retreated while he jumped into an undergrowth.
I took careful aim at a point above the undergrowth and when he lifted his head, I pulled the trigger sending a bullet where I knew his shoulder would be. His arm in jerked up pain and I blasted the gun out of his hand. Racing forward I swung the butt of my gun hard onto his head.
K.O.
Dragging him out of the undergrowth, I looked around and saw that the entire area in front of me was bristling with gangsters. They had appeared so silently, that I felt goosebumps. Standing at their head was a man wearing an eye patch and sporting a bald head.
I knew instinctively that he was Gesù. “Well done!” the man clapped. “We didn’t give him a high dose so he ought to recover.” Then tilting his head he said, “But it seems like you know a lot about us so I don’t think that we can let you go.”

He raised his arm, “You gave me a good show. I hope you didn’t expect me to actually let you go. It was fun while it lasted.”
Then he dropped his arm. All the gangsters raised their guns but before they could fire, a hail of bullets from the surrounding trees tore into them.
It was over in less than a minute.
The police raced out and handcuffed the shell-shocked Gesù and the remaining gangsters. Feeling a sharp pain in my leg, I noticed the bullet in my thigh and then...passed out on the spot.
