《Stuck in a zombie world with an OP shop》Chapter 8

Ryan quickly dives off the truck onto the side away from the people in the car. Bullets come whizzing by as he falls, but Ryan doesn't stop before crouching behind two sets of huge wheels. Above him, holes are made in the steel body of the truck from bullets. After placing the sword in its scabbard, Ryan holds the spear close to his chest.
"Shit, go around the truck!" Yells someone from inside the car. At this point, Ryan is extremely thankful the man is having to yell at his partner to get the message across. Very likely, the two men didn't use hearing protection while shooting the gun and now have damaged ears.
What Ryan didn't know was that the two men had spent the previous day clearing out their apartment building, and didn't use hearing protection the entire time. Though both of them gained the class 'Gunner', they didn't have the sense to plug their ears.
Ryan looks under the truck and watches the car zoom to the front side of the truck. Before the car passes the front of the truck, Ryan crawls under and lays between the wheels, under the axel. In a hurry, Ryan buys the skill Bullet Resistance 1 for 500 credits. In a panic, he tries to buy it again for 500 credits and it works. After adding a bulletproof helmet to the shop, which would cost him 2400 credits, Ryan instead purchases two more levels of Bullet Resistance. Checking his stats is enough to see Bullet Resistance is now at level 4, but his credits have gone down to 2734.
"He's probably under the truck!" Yells a man inside the car, and bullets start shooting around the tires. "Yeah, I see him right there!"
Several bullets penetrate the tires, but they do not explode like Ryan thought they would. Instead, there is a slow leak of air from the side wall. Under a hail of bullets, Ryan crawls out the other side of the truck and starts running for the building to his right.

The car comes roaring around the truck just as Ryan escapes through the front door of the building, but the passenger in the car is able to get off a bullet in Ryan's back.
"Guah!" Ryan yells out in pain and stumbles. He doesn't fall, but the bullet certainly did heavy damage. Now, Ryan's inside an unfamiliar bar strewn with trash. Around the room are tables and chairs thrown about like an elephant went wild, and six zombies slowly shuffle around then to get to Ryan. With the spear, Ryan quickly dispatches the zombies.
After killing the zombies, Ryan jumps over the bar and hides behind the counter. There are shards of broken glass on the ground, but those are among the least of Ryan's concerns. From the other side of the bar, the sounds of two obnoxious men entering the bar can be heard.
"He's got to be in here somewhere!" Yells one of the men.
Already thinking of a plan, Ryan purchases the skill Fire Resistance for 500 credits, six glasses of water for 60 credits, a molotov cocktail for 200 credits, and a lighter for 50 credits.
"Where you at?!" Yells one of the men.
Ryan starts his plan by pouring two glasses of water on the ground around him and igniting the molotov cocktail. In the next instant, Ryan throws the molotov cocktail over the bar and it arcs to explode at the feet of the two men.
"Fuck!" One of the men swears, and the gun starts shooting. "Behind the bar!"
Ryan tries to curl into a ball as the bullets blast through the wooden bar, but he only barely protects himself. Still, these bullets do far less damage than the one currently stuck in his back, and most stop before breaking skin.

Slowly, the men begin to scream increasingly larger amounts and the bullets stop. When the heat gets too much for Ryan's comfort, he pours the remaining glasses of water over himself.
>Earned 845 ₵
Ryan gets a sudden box of text and realizes one of the men must have died. A few seconds later, he gets a similar box.
>Earned 20 ₵
From the earned credits, Ryan figured that revealing himself to other people would be much more dangerous than he previous thought. If a single zombie gave only five credits, killing the two men earned him over 170 zombies worth of credits. Anyone who's already killed another person might know the efficiency of this credit gaining method.

Mabel's boss dabbled in awfully questionable business for the owner of an herb store, and she never blinked when he had suspicious-looking visitors. On one particular Sunday, though, Mabel couldn't help but watch the man leaving Herman's office with a critical eye. He reached a hand down to help her up, but Mabel swatted it away, standing on her own and scowling. "Don't call me 'Little One,' Death." She fired back, crossing her arms and straightening her back to look taller. "And, besides, you're the one who told me your name was Death, so what else am I supposed to call you?" The raspy growl that rolled from his throat didn't sound anything like a chuckle, but the slight smile on his face told her otherwise.
